Cross Continent Road Trip With Four Dogs
voloclydes replied to Dxenion's topic in General Dog Discussion
I hated the tree top walk, not my thing at all. I didnt take our dogs but i wanted to and wont leave the 5 behind again. What size dogs? Have you had any trouble at parks? We only stay at the odd one. Like cities in perth we stayed in a park. -
Any Whippet Owners Near Queanbeyan?
voloclydes replied to Her Majesty Dogmad's topic in General Dog Discussion
Runs into thread and thanks god that child cannot see this thread. He's decided next one we get will be a whippy! He had a close encounter with obe that adpoted him! He now thinks they are the coolest. Think it might be preferable to his other choice of beagle! -
i have had more bitches and prefer them to a degree. i have found... (may not be always the case) that boys are more rough tumble and outging. girls are more quiet and content. a bit shyer in a way, more reticent in coming forward. i think my son prefers leo and they rumble all round the floor till i yell and put a stop to it... the dog keeps coming back for more, he loves it. sophie would not come at it at all. we do have 5x male dogs atm tho...

To Those Who Wonder Why We Crate Train
voloclydes replied to piper's topic in General Dog Discussion
my lot fight over the crate..... its supposed to be leo's but sophie is his shadow and they share... but it can get crowded with a huge number in there. like 6... they are jossling for position. sophie can't hold on all night... so i can't make her sleep in there... although atm now i am leaving for work at 4.30 i could let her out... and she might start to streeeeetch out her pee stops. -
yeap, people.... the spots give a whole new meaning to exciotment.... you know what, now days with sophie.... knowing how shy and badly treated she was 2 years ago... to see her miss you even tho you only went inside for 10min, is sweet. i don't even bother to make her get calm before i pat her.... its take so long for her to show emotions, like affection and seek out humans for friends... i am fine with dirty paws and exciotment. now i have learnt youtube i might show you how far she has come...its gob smacking....
-
But my dogs do miss me! They leap around stupid even if I walk behind the shed out of sight or I go on holiday for 3 months. Insert rolly on the floor smiley, the phone won't let me add one. But it's so true, 5 min or 5 months it all the same......

For us a kennel. Charges $22.00 per day. No discount for more than, one our dogs would want to bunk together, no discount if you provide food and dogs must be Yearly vacc ( I do 2nd yearly) and the cost for 5 is 100 per day..... Approx. We tend to travel with or rely on mil and step son.

we have 6... a chi, a pair of jrt, a foxie cross and 2x dals. all the boys are fixed... sophie the dal is not... all dogs were added as adults apart from the foxie who was puppie... he was added when the OH's or jrt became a bit old and stiff at 13... it pepped him up and made him a bit more active, it was a bloke thing... he had to keep up...insert rolly eyes man. they all get along fine apart from the odd despute... they soon forget that it happened too. last night at bed time the jrt started a blue with sophie... who really like to finish arguements... so he was locked in the crate over night... the hair thing tho when we went from one dal to 2 was 100x worse. not sure where such a short haired dog keeps all that fur! the dals do tend to act like a pair.... hence the term in this house "the spots" one is hardly without the other. it will be fine, dogs cope its humans that stress about little things.

Dog Scared To Make A Mistake
voloclydes replied to woodbyne's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
mmm funny when you read something days later you know you explained why badly. sophie now goes from being indifferent to in your face slapping you physically and clawing at you in a hurting way... if you say any thing... she then will take off out side, never to return. you cannot verabise at all (i think due to her being misstreated). so i just have to end it the whole thing...other wise she keeps escalating and getting more in your face... i couldn't think of another way to end it quietly... as unless you sort of end task she can not get back on track.... she is very much a dog of exreemes. i thought in the doggie world if she hurt another dog in play they would just walk off? as far as i know of her background and woodbyne knows more than i... is she was locked in a walk in walk out stable yard... for most of her life. no training, no inside, no human contact and by 2yo had 2x litters of puppies to her brother. she came to us very scared (one of her sibblings was put down due to being so terrifed he injured him self trying to escape) under weight and a nervous wreck. she has gone from a extremely nervous dog who would not wee or poop where you could see so she could eat it..and if you so much as looked at her while she was pooping she whirled around so fast she was still pooping to eat it. she had not even mastered come. i am very open to ideas with her as some times she is a bit over the top. but today for her i had a very big win... she came out with horse and cart... she ran about 1/2 km and then fell in the creek... accidentally really... then i called them back a few times as they were sort of heading like there were going to take on the sheep 600m away... so i bellowed loud so they could hear... (leo is partially deaf) and next thing she had nest in the tussocks and refused to come out. except when i went home then she had to try and beat me up the drive. huge win tho, she gave up coming with the horse when the plovers attacked her... they never got her but far too close for her liking.... once.. its taken 12mo to get her over it. sorry for the war and peace novel but the back ground stuff might give you some ideas in how i can do better.... -
looks at esky.... nah you look nufink like me.... i go leo as an adult in june, his crate training which was in winter extended to out at 9.30ish for a pee.... then bang in the crate...all night, as he's alergic to cold he was fine with it fast, we had the odd night he went off and needed to go out but now hes fine... sophie has a tea cup bladder and i reccon will never go all night...like my sleep..

voloclydes replied to hayleyc's topic in General Dog Discussion
it had a pole attached to a trotting cart type seat with bike suspension... not sure i have a pic on this puter... it was odd... looked like it was for a mini trotter... looked like it might have been injured at some stage. had been used for dogs google regal sulkys and look at mini sulkies..this link should work... it was one of these...http://www.rjwalsh.com.au/mini/products.htm this dude did the sale... http://www.nickkirshner.com.au/ it was a few weeks ago at a place called kalkite if you wanted to chase up the cart. tell him a mad clydedale woman told you about it.. it did not sell on the day. -

Dog Scared To Make A Mistake
voloclydes replied to woodbyne's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
My way of letting Sophie know she did wrong I just to stop and take away My attention for a moment. No looking at her I just sort of shut down.... Then come back on track. She. Now likes your attention at all costs and will fight for it more. Before she was indifferent and could careless, making it very hard. -
Has Anyone Heard Off Or Owns A Sacca Wagon
voloclydes replied to hayleyc's topic in General Dog Discussion
there was a dog cart at a clearing sale about a month ago... didn't sell as they want too much money for it... stainless steel... less than grand would have bought it. -
it was my last ditch solution so i could manage this week.... i start work at 5am so get up around 4... today like last week... i got home at around 4.30...but i did flit home between jobs for an hour and took dog with.... which i love taking my dog with... and he loves coming. yesterday i was home by 11am... when your a casual cleaner working for a multi national corp they like to make your life hard... by changing shifts... 4 weeks ago i was only working 5 hours and it was middle day... so dog could have a life too. hope fully i can fit the recyled door to the garden shed, which will take major mods so not a weekday arvo job... i might take a pic of the old one... which is a write off. i think we have all had yard dramas from time to time....i think my lots spend all day sleeping and thinking of things to do me to make life a pia.
-
so did you read my first post.... the dog dug threw a wooden door thus enabling him to escape... it was a one day thing... i will fix my house yard this weekend... as in day after tomorrow...yard was dog proof untill the day i posted... but at least this time he wasn't sent home with lead in his butt! i don't normally allow my dog to wander ever.... ever ever... given my country upbringing my thought on how repeating strays should be dealt with is not fit for public forum. nor would i blame my neighbour for doing same..
-
well i had to go and clean this arvo so took him with me and left every one else in the lock up... so he found the big white spotty dog worth barking at... he's been with me to clean at this lodge before, but never at this time of day... and it was his danged reflection.... well i do aim to entertain. he will be at mr clydes house tomorrow and then it will be a public holiday... thank god.
-
well home again.... i asked child to check door was in place and if so leave leo out... but when i got home door was down.... but dog was in yard.... been home all of 15min he's now comatose on the floor... i have to now go and clean a unit.... just flyes and stuff... but will take him and leave the others at home.
