  1. well that was helpfull it looked like a.... a fleshy pink blurry mess.... almost pornographic... not much of a photographer...
  2. i noticed bloody type splashes on his head... because he's white it shows.. inside was worse.. i wiped it with a cotton ball... i could not find a cotton bud... no smell...seems less red now... maybe just dust....not sure that a pic will show it. but will try. dust could cause it as a bigger dog it scratching... he could of hurt it.
  3. if i think leo has a grass seed in his ear...(yes i will get a vet appointment for tomorrow) can i flush the ear with something.... i have peroxide in the cupboard (as a anti septic and that about all) i have normal kitchen stuff like salty water... or i only have another anti fungal/bacterial shampoo.(not malesab).... it appers to be a bit bloody and irritated, wanted a short term fix.. not really rubbing or scratching frantically. thanks for the tips!
  4. leo is a large Dalmatian... he does have trouble inside with his size.... he tends to think he can go where the small ones go like under the tables. it gets a bit ott... when they all crash... leo takes up the least space he sleeps curled up... all the small ones spread out. unless i make leo exercise he won't. a large yard would be of no use to him... he prefers where the human is..
  5. we have had sucess.... you gain a choccy frog...... this was the light bulb moment. doggie will take a running leap but not from a small standing start. must have been performance anxiety as well.... with me laughing at his climbing.
  6. i think he should take a running leap into the car..... but he won't i get the.. doh! woman that's far too high! while standing at the back. so maybe some exercise to get him to take a run up? my thought are he expects to be lifted, experiences always has been thus so has no reason to change. so how bout this for a thought. he gets so long with treat and car... no jump... back into yard and no come+ no treat. one of the problems is he will stand there for a week looking looking.
  7. no not really broken just full... he will fill up on any thing.. horse hoof trimmings, grass, sheep poo/horse poo in the paddock old bones. me thinks he a constant snacker! ;) so if not really hungry then why bother. i think we also need to be in the "mood" so we might need to make sure we try in the am when we might be hungry and a bit more happy and refreshed.
  8. i tryed to take pics of how pathetic his climb in is.... front paws up then back feet on tow bar... then a scramble like the car is a cliff top. there is no difference in the back seat climb, although when sitting on seat he's very tall. he has jumped in the past, but now seems not to be bothered, like janba said he thinks i should do the work! with his size the car is an easy jump! the jrt can jump into the back and over the seat in one bound. this should be easy for him, i ran out of treats getting him in this arvo just to go to the school bus. :) he does not appear to dislike the car nor get car sick. although he likes food dinner may not cut it, he tends to find stuff to eat everywhere even grazes on grass. so is never starving at dinner time.
  9. blow.... i typed and deleted and wrote a great reply. the interent gremlin stole it... cause the satellite conection fell in a heap. car is a falcon station wagon so not high. he won't climb in the back as the wheel arch stops him from getting a foot hold. OH's quote is "he's got you trained to lift him why would he jump" and "on the weekend he jumped a 1-2 foot fence...knee height dog is thigh height... so should be really easy.... but he has a sookie la la mummy to lift him. drive off he'll soon want in" of course OH's know all, wrong! will have to try some of the idea's although he discovered a red foam ball last night.. the excitement... is huge.
  10. he does jump in sometimes... like once in a blue moon..... clydes looks out window moon not blue today. he grew up in sydney.... he did not even know how to play with a human or the joy of having your belly rubbed. the first time we tryed to to give him a belly scratch he panicked.... he thought we were gunna attack him. now he's a belly rub junkie. i think in the past he has been lifted, into cars... as in back end lifted. might take him to the friend next door, she does both human and horses(well mine) so she would looki at leo... worth a go.
  11. according to my OH leo has lead in his ass! he cannot/ will not jump. he was 1yo in july and is a dally. he will sometimes jump in the car. mostly he stands at the back of the wagon and waits for you to lift the hind end in the air. while this is great on one hand he has never jumped onto the couch... which i prefer him to be on floor. or tryed to jump the fence. the 20 thousand dollar question is how to even make him try... if he does it's a pathetic one leg in the air or we pretend to climb and miss so that's it no more try or interest. yes i have tryed his most fave treat the tic tac's.
  12. humm lets see leo has some nick names for some of his habits.... the grazer is one... just turned on year old. he learnt to swallow while we yell leo! drop it... so i am not sure how to tackle it. i would be better making a list of what leo hasn't eaten . he has been taught by the resident poo eater well... i am hoping the grow out of it option is coming up.... your taitey is such a cutey pie!
  13. thanks for the tips folks... yes he drops quite well. hence i can only get a momentary pause.... the up side is the drop is much better than when i ask for it.... they really like to say ha ha mum fooled ya! he has been doing the long stretch but not very often, but will use it to my advantage would you believe he just did.... so may be all is not lost.
  14. ok so smart pants me thought wow the bow.... we can do the comando crawl, supported beg, beg (so long as it short) shake hands, drop, fetch, and working on stay. can get him to bow but the butt end falls into the drop. so the question how to get the hind end to hover? we can mantain it for a second, but then flop. would scratching the tail end instead of patting head end give him the hint?
  15. this counts as whiskers ......no i don't trim... or shave em...
  16. so common a problem except we don't have the cat doing the whole attack.. tis the jrt hanging off leo's jowls like the stihl doggie in the whipper snipper addvert. i just give up! jelousy's a curse ;)
  17. i just give my lot free rain, with 5 and no piggies in the house. they have all you can eat..... might not work for greedy breeds... on the days they are hungery and cold they have more... bag just sits in the corner with the top rolled down. i used to have a problem with 1 dog doing the stand over(and guarding) with every one else getting shorted. this way if someone wants to guard then they have to sit there all day :) not happening!
  18. having a jrt nothing is indestructible, he ripps the stongest toy apart even stuff for heavy dogs with big teeth. know where your comming from...
  19. Clydes, Whats the bushes they put in car springs? Dont understand what you mean, can you show/pic? (But I have NO IDEA about cars! LOL had to pay the mechanic $30 to change my head light globes and pump up my tires the other week so thats how cluey I am!) hey i don't often know how to 'splain things like that either. the bushes go in where the leaf spring attaches to the car around a little pin. usually in 4x4 but i think car have them too. not sure a pic would help. they are made of nolethane (not sure the spelling) if you asked a canic for suspension bushes they should know.... i would offer to post some, but hell the dogs love em. traffic cones are good, some people give them to horses, fairly tough.
  20. one of mine got sin bined out to outside (he hates it) for trying to kill the smaller dog. roll on friday for the snippy snippy... operation. edited to correct a typeo..
  21. yes my jrt has killed even indestructible toys. i will not allow him near the horse ball, imo it would be gone in a second. we buy cheap basket balls from bW or OH has a canics work shop. the bushes they put in springs in cars last along time. we have lots. ask the local canic to save you some, they bounce well too! best is the free price tag
  22. no advice roolly, but could l loan you my cat? the jr a confirmed cat chaser dose not any more. the cat lays down and if the dog start he reminds him that cats are sharp! tis a gentle slap but gets the message across.
  23. i know this is slightly off topic, but did you guys know some human chiro's will do doggies? i have a human one next door and she will do horses and dogs if they come to her house. dogs are allowed to got the surgery and are treated outside. horse one almost always will if you ask. for a horse one go to your local pony club or saddlery store. oh and the benefit of a horse one is they already travel and will come to you! hope this is some help to you!
  24. our jr love cashews as in the nuts. works well. they all assume the beg possy when the container opens.
