we recently travelled thru vic, sa, wa, and nt. i was suprise every second couple had a doggie with them but very few caravan parks allowed dogs. one had a sign small dogs only by owners descretion. i felt leo would have been too big... as a waist height dally. but i did say to OH i bet i could get them to allow him if i had bought him by doing all his tricks and promising to keep in the crate when onsite outside. oh and they had a limit of one dog....although there was one lot with 2 dogs. i am not sure our 5 would have gone down very well.

we only tend to buy ice cream at the beach and when we got to the city so poor doggies are not with us. they do however think they have arrived with cruchy ice cubes. i do get the cup thing... a throw away cup is a bit more expensive than a spoon and often if you in summer had 50 people coming in wanting them it can add up.

guess the OH silly nicknames for the spots aren't so bad... dalstupid.... after said dalstupid has headbutted the table 10 times in a row... he know he cannot fit under it... but never gives up trying. dumbmatain.... for above reason... or as OH says not a sharp tool but still a tool. although the OH did have a couple of customers convinced that's their breed! some folks are trusting. -

The Delights Of Adopting An Adult Dog.

when i looked to get leo i wanted no puppy piddles... seemed a bit odd to most folks but i have done years and years of puppies. i did not want any more with a full time job. i wanted a doggie whom could cope and fit in with being left the odd day... not a baby who needed every thing including toilet training... leo needed de sexing but at 10mo that was fine. sophie was in the same boat but badly treated... and our other jrts... as well. we had not adopted our last 4 who know they may have ended up in heaven. -
we have 2 dallies amoungts others. the dallys get called 'matians ,'maches and the spots... as there are 6 dogies in total... they often get refered to as hot diggity dogies.. (manly the spoted ones due the fact they will often starting digin to china) the jrts get called terriosts... oh and barney gets called rubble.... as he like to hunt and rummage.
-
some of you guys know i live in the sticks our hot digity dogies never get walked (in the sense of a formal walk) but as i do have horses and carriage drive quite a lot they do get a run along side the cart! i am suprised when we go to manly 2 x visit per year just how many city people are walking along the beach front on the walking paths with their doggies.... it does make me miss our lot more.there are some really good places to walk in and around the burbs. i could see our lot living in doors and never going out... leo's a sookie la la and hates to get his feet wet... but will happily eat snow! and crys when left out in the summer on a hot 30degree night!

well why should you slag off the queen less than the poor idoit who wanders in here looking for advice on their lab who is due any day? it should be a taring and feathering all round! :D no holds barred! funny that not what you do in this life but who you are... fwiw.... who cares if she populated every palace in england with mutts! so long as they are well cared for, which they seem to be.
-
yeah our chooks used to like em.... they would here the car come home and they would mob the car. you could hardly open the doors... without hitting one in the head. we never had to have the grill on the car cleaned tho. no chooks now tho.. so i have to get it cleaned. trust a matian to find food in the back yard.

how is tango's health? is he showing any signs of having stones or urinary problems? its a small step from skinny to over weight with this funny breed..... the spots as these 2 get called.... seem to inhale and get rounder. silly matians are sleeping... one in the crate on in the middle of the floor.... its only a fake sleep tho if i went into the kitchen... they would knock me down in the rush for the thought of dinners. :D -
Whats The Best Gossip You Heard About Yourself Or Your Dogs?

leo after christmas was nearly 35kg.... yes i know he is roolly big for a dally height wise but shish he had fat rolls on his fat rolls.... the vet said 30kg tops.... ok so recently he had a weigh in and he passed muster at 28kg so he's lost 7kg..... spot on now. sophie had gained heaps while on trial adoption..... she's lost about 2kg... she has a couple more to go... its not hard if they are prone to finding tit bits on the run, for them to find a few extra rolls. have you gotten tango on a diet? but it would be nice to see with tango as he was skin and bones. before -

the main reason was she was guarding her bed... from the families youngest child... he was in tears and could not even go out on the veranda to put his shoes on. i had no contact with them untill it had gotten to the stage of the dad of the family saying she goes and thats final. i did catch up with the kim (the mum of the family) and tryed to organise a play date..... but it fell thru. the behaviour i think came from a phantom pregnancy... at the time she was returned nesting..... and not wanting to come out with me or the other doggies unless she was really made to. couple of times even i suspect false labour too..... the whole time licking her girlie bits and acting like she might have been preggers. NO PUPPIES tho at all. she had not been fixed, as at our place all the boys are.... so no need and the nearest neighbour the same.... and 10km to the nearest town. the trial owners had the same senario.... with a dog run as well. there plan was after she settled to fix her. she was also very thin when she came and seemed very stressed.... also seemed to have been in season when she came..... then a few weeks before she went on trial. i could not really afford to pay extra for the in season bit... given her back ground they were hesitant to spend the large sum up front in case she did not work out. i think kim has adopted another from a pound in griffth. she was heart broken to give sophie up. she came back a much happier doggie... and more friendly....they have not damged her in any way in fact i think it was what she needed. her sit which was ordinary and often you had to push her butt down is now really good. it was as if she had never left. sorry sc for stealing your thread... but me i feel we are walking the same path and given you tend to take on others second hand doggies.... i feel almost as if we are too of a kind. tango and leo have made similar journeys. yet we still have sophie and dylan coming up. -

wow thats great news... sophie is back but going really well, she failed her trial adoption. i for one am glad... although i had almost gotten used to her being gone. in case you had not heard. glad things are going well for you all. -
terror is a friends doggie but he visits regularly in the last 18mo i have had leo ( the big dally) he has not been able to play with any of our doggies... its a shame as terror is a lovely doggie and leo would not hurt a fly... both have similar personalities. hence terror was beaten up, he never was the sort to go in all guns blazing.

well i have recent gotten austar... and needless to say have watched ceasar millan. i have found watching it interesting. it has given me some interesting food for thought. today we had a friend come with his meduim dog, which has been attacked in his own work yard (owner owns a workshop and yard in an industrial area). terror ( the doggie in question) has had bad experiences by being attacked by larger dogs so now he will start a fight first with a larger dog and ask questions later. terror is fine with the smaller ones in our pack. in the past my large dally would end up in row with terror as he mirrors the other dog. so if terror was happy leo would be happy if terror growled leo would growl and things would be a row in no time. today given what i have seen on ceasar... i introduced terror and our jrts combined with shopie the dally. they got on like a house on fire. with the big dally inside. then as we walked out to go i let leo our largest out and because terror had been ok'd by the others leo was busy saying hi and how are you rather than a stand off insuing. how different is that? now the other dog has had a good experience with a larger dog which might change his out look as he is not a nasty dog.

just an update...... sophie has been on a diet since she came home and seems to be playing with leo like no tomorrow. there is either a cyclone of playing and romping or they are dead asleep. she has lost a fair bit of weight i would say at least a couple of kg... boobies have shrunk back a bit.... yes she had a litter before being handed on to us. she is showing less and less signs of being up the duff than ever before. she seems to have a rashy thing on her bottom/inside leg and round her grilie bits, she is worrying it... and is getting cream on it. if not better in a few days she can go into the vet. my vote is she was phantom! having seen lots of preggers doggies in my life she sure looked it...i would have betted $50.00 on it a week or so ago...

mmmmm we have dally that could do agility and one who can fall flat on his face. obedience would be more his deal. does it exist in canberra? i know classes do, but do trials exist in the canberra area?

serriouly folk tho :D where else would all those teens whom know everything get a job any way! give us on the net a great laugh.

well unless it happened while away, although she had no other dogs around and was in season some time before she went on trial..... i will i think give her some time to see how she goes in case she is going to come into season again....we will get her done soon now she is looking like staying here for life....i wanted to make sure, what was going on. i have not the bucks in the next few weeks as the boss... hates me now and seems to have cut my shifts so food and bills come first. i have never seen a phantom and was very intrigued as i knew it might be more common than i know.
-
sure as has any other dog round here who had puppies, but will it right it's self if she is just left to run her course? dogie has been away since 26sep... so almost 6 weeks.... home only a few days. not a social doggie so a whole trip to town and vet is ok, but not something you can do while going to town as a long trip. as in what happens do they have false labour as well? (boy if she does i will need a shrink!)

and again!
