So, you only show at specialty shows because you live in the country? Seems like you don't want to travel but think that others should? I've known people from Darwin to travel to their breed specialty shows, too. They did quite well Personally, I'm not in a position to travel to a specialty show and find somewhat hypocritical of someone to judge me on that when they choose the shows they do because they 'live in the country'. I've seen quite a few judges non award. Some I've known about at the time, some I've heard about later.

Er, how? How on earth would making a title harder (or impossibel in some cases) to get reduce breeding? Dodgy breeders aren't going to change just because their dogs aren't titled. Maybe some more thinking this plan through is in order?

Do you have any references to back up these statements? As others have said, what about the breeds that are small in numbers? What about remote locations? I live in Darwin and I show Great Danes. The cost and logistics of me getting to a Specialty Show with my dogs would be huge. There are quite a few people here (including myself)who have what you would call Petrol Champions. These Champions may not have ever been to a specialty show, but have been under enough judges who have signed their name to the statement "I am clearly of the opinion that this exhibit is of such outstanding merit as to be worthy to qualify for the title of "Australian Champion"".

Yeah, a bit Premium performance is higher (denser?) in calories. Say you need to feed Gus 3 cups of food a day, you may only need to feed two cups of a performance food. If his excersise levels mean you need to feed him 6 cups of 'normal' food, there may be no way on earth he'd digest all that, so 4 cups of PP food would be more manageable. My boy gets about 6 or 8 cups of RC 4800 a day, divided into two feeds. If I was to try to get weight on him with 'normal' food, he'd need 10 to 12 cups! His stomach couldn't handle that amount. Post GDV surgery, he needed to be kept quiet for 4 weeks (he also did some hip damage at the same time :rolleyes: ) His diet didn't change his energy levels and he's still not as fit as he was before...........we're building up slowly

Yep, I'd go with what the others said and feed twice a day, and a premium pefrormance food. My boy lost about 10kgs after GDV, he looked terrible I couldn't feed him much, so he went onto many meals a day (for the first few weeks) of a premium performance food. He's on RC 4800. It's a high energy food, so there's no need to feed him huge amounts (which is a good thing for a deep-chested dog). He's doing great on it, 6 weeks later and he's almost back to normal

I was wondering the same thing I buy a catalogue at every show, too. And people won't pay this? They'd rather steal?

That was Dante....he's so awesome at costing money. That was cheap..............it cost me way over twice that! That was middle of the night emergency surgery, a couple of plasma transfusions, 3 days in hospital, IV fluids, multiple blood tests, lots of drugs....................... Hope he's okay and it's nothing serious.
