  1. So sorry for your loss, Jaana ;) She has good company while she waits for you Run free flash
  2. Ahh, you need to come to the Darwin Royal. :D That's my pick! Followed by, of course, the Canine Expo shows the following weekend............ And the shows the weekend before the Royal...............
  3. Love this shot OK, it's off topic, but I had to comment!
  4. Plastic storage containers from Bunnings . Gotta be my second-favourite shop, first is Pet Barn
  5. Hehehe, I got the new chews and was miffed at no stickers, too. I had to grow up a little and actually write on my calendar BTW, does anyone else find the packaging huge and hard to open?
  6. CLD's of the world unite Our accountant at work came racing into my workshop today screaming "Meg, Meg, there's a great dane outside". Of course, I had to drop everything to go and meet him (oh, and his owner). While I was chatting to the owner, another person from work walked past and called out "No Meg, you are not getting another one".
  7. Don't stress, it should come out in the next day or so. Mine have eaten an assortment of foam, toy stuffing, etc. Toy stuffing looks hilarious in poo. But, how funny If it was me, I'd be putting him in the pool to test his floatability. Can he swim? Perfect time to teach him
  8. I wouldn't really call it a precedent. The Darwin RSPCA was sued a few years ago, and lost. The only info I could find http://www.abc.net.au/stateline/nt/content/2003/s1069891.htm BTW: I knew the woman involved, she moved to Vic and was murdered not long ago (not related).
  9. I'd agree with this one totally If it's possible, let's hope the mum was the kelpie
  10. Oh, what fun. There goes my weekend
  11. Ok, all of mine are just point and shoot happy snaps, but I like them My favourite, I was sure she'd stop while I ran to get the camera! I find mud! Just having fun
  12. That is an excellent point. I will ask the vet about it week after next when I bring her home. I guess you can't give it to puppies? It's not recommended for use in puppies aged less than 14 weeks. Great thanks for that info! I have two danes, both now on Comfortis. I swear by the stuff. I used to find fleas on them whenever we'd been to dog training or dog shows, ie:quite often. I tried flea treatments, shampoos, spot-ons, capstar, etc. Nothing seemed to work and I ended up with fleas in the yard. Since starting on Comfortis, the yard has cleared up by itself, yay One thing in the fine print is that the tablet must be given withh food and the dog may throw-up. If it's held it down for over an hour, all's good. If not, re-dose. My bitch chucked after about two hours (and they had a fight over who got to eat the vomit ). My dog was fine (everything has the possibility of being food and he's not giving it back for any reason) With the first dose, only the bitch got it as my dog was too young. Flea problem calmed down enough (with capstar for him) to wait until she was due for her second dose to give him his first. And he was too little weight wise for the big pills I had bought. I really didn't feel like paying for a six pack for him that I could only use one of.
  13. Hmmm, so would that be a Great Doodle? Or maybe a Great Spane? ETA: A Standard Pane?
  14. This started to happen with my old girl (RIP Razz) when she was 13. I took her straight to the vets, full bloodwork, diagnosed with pancreatitis. She was in hospital for almost a week on a drip, when she came home, she was on a restricted diet. I had pancreatic bloods (amylase and lipase) done every 6 months. Hers were always quite high, so she was on a restricted diet for life. At almost 15 years old, she started to leak again, so back to the vets with me in a panic. Bloods were all ok, so she went on meds. There's two types, can't remember names at the moment. One didn't really work for her, the other did. If it was me, I'd take her to the vets for bloods. My vet originally thought it may be a UTI, and wanted to put her on antibiotics for a few days. I told him that she wasn't her normal self, he then suggested bloods. Only you know what's 'normal' for your dog, go with your gut, and all the best. BTW, Razz gave herself her wings at 15 years and 3 months old.
  15. Could you try doing it while he's sleeping? Or really tired? I have a great dane, who I used to straddle to clean her ears. One day, she decided she wasn't happy with that idea anymore and I went for a quick ride through the house Now I clean her ears while she's asleep. Okay, she wakes up but stays still at least
  16. The best laugh I've had for ages You've got my vote for thread of the year

    Puppy At Wedding

My thoughts are -it's your wedding, not your guests -if they won't like it, they don't have to be there -can you add something to the invitations (probably a bit late) to let people know she will be there? -if you're really worried, have someone organised to take her home after photos -Congrats, hope it all goes well. I once got sent home (100metres away) from a friend's wedding to get my dog. When I said "What if people don't want her here?" His reply was along the lines of "It's my wedding, if they don't like it, they can leave." ;)
  18. I've been following purple's progress through the breeder's thread. So sorry to hear, but you did everything you could. Fly free little one Hugs to you and pink
  19. Thanks, the photo's a few months old, but a favourite
  20. Next..... 10 things about Dozer 1.Dozer loves everybody - she has never met a 'people' she didn't love. This includes the drunk derelicts trying to sleep in the park. 2.Dozer loves water - be it hose, tap, sprinkler, shower, toilet, beach or spa, she'll play. 3.Dozer once tried to catch a low-flying helicopter - not a chance in hell. At the time, I did think that if it was flying lower and she could jump a bit higher, she'd have a shot at bringing it down. 4.Dozer nested when she had her first season - on the couch with a collection of teddy bears. It looked cute until she got bored and played with (read, disembowelled) them. 5.Dozer ate a futon matress - well, shredded it, when she was younger. It looked like a foam bomb had gone off! 6.Thinks Dollop is a present for her - she was very excited that I brought him back home after his first vet visit. 7.Thinks she is a lap dog - and she is, all 50kgs of her. 8.Is a harlequin dane - and we had a little girl once say to me "I like your dog, she looks like a baby cow." I loved it. 9.Was confused when she first met Dollop - he was obsessed with her nipples for a few days. Two weeks later, she was lactating 10.Can hide a tennis ball - in her closed mouth!
  21. Just found this thread, loving it. Here goes. 10 things about Dollop 1.Dollop is worried about the upcoming stress of his first Christmas - the photo says it all. 2.Dollop is a ceasar baby - although his brother came into the world naturally. Maybe mum decided one was enough! 3.Dollop is a show dog - his first show was at exactly three months old and he took out baby puppy in group. 4.Dollop has a bra fetish - clean or dirty, he will steal them and stash them in his crate. 5.Dollop can swim - he discovered this when he followed Dozer too far into the water. 6.Dollop is teething - on Dozer, who seems to enjoy it - strange. 7.Dollop loves food - everything has the possibility of being edible, except bras. 8.Dollop was confused when he first met Dozer - her nipples didn't work. He gave up after a few days. 9.Dollop thinks the dining setting is shrinking - he used to be able to get under it to hide his toys from Dozer. Now, he doesn't fit so well. 10.Dollop enjoys housework - it appears that his aim in life is to be able to do the dishes.......................while they're in the sink.
  22. Hi Elle, I'm in Darwin, too. I take my dane pup to the showgrounds for puppy school on Monday nights. They have puppy school from 3 to 6 months old, then, after 6 months, you can head off to grade 1 obedience. All starts at 8pm. The first week it's suggested you get there about 15 minutes early for paperwork stuff. Good luck with the new puppy, they're so much fun Meg
