What are these Kelpiekaye????? They are the rubber liners from the inside of milking cups that go on cows. Great to throw, shake, tug of war etc

Hope all going well. Good luck.

I was just reading the thread about kongs getting stuck in dogs mouth. I give my dogs milk liner inflations to play with and have never had a problem and have never worn one out. Dogs seem to love them. You can buy a packet of four from Elders, Murray Gouldburn etc.Its a wee bit of a worry when Ruby goes over to the dairy and gets a new one out of the bag though. Dont think the boss would be to happy.

How does Crate Games go with an older dog eg 2 years? My girl dosnt like the crate much and she going to fly to NZ soon.

I once had a stray chook fly into my property. My GSD Juste didnt do anything, then one day I went outside to find the chook sitting on the dog bed with Juste. The chook ended up staying

You Plan And Plan(update2/06/11 All Good)
kelpiekaye replied to BJ.'s topic in General Dog Discussion
You have planned and done the best you could so dont worry needlessly and dont feel bad. It probably wouldve happened when you were there. Things happen. Enjoy your holiday -
Not ready to hand in my knife and fork yet, however I have got a will, as everyone should if they care about their loved ones.

WHAT? Unreal. Some one should go to the media.

Awesome. We spent the weekend at the Cattlemans Cup a while ago. That was the same lots of people, horses and dogs all behaving well.

Bummer. Wonder why. There is no way that Ruby could get any body parts through slats. Oh well more expense. Does anyone want a cage with slats?

We are moving to NZ at the end of June and are in the throws of organising flying 1 kelpie, 1 kelpie pup and 1 cat with Jetpets. I have a Atlas 60 dog crate that I flew my Kelpie Bo over from NZ 5 years ago. Jetpets have seen photos of it and say that the ventilation holes have to be round. Has any one else had recent experience with Dog crates and flying. I would like to use my cage if possible to save a bit of money.

That was awesome. Almost made me cry to see them work so well together. Something to envy,

Well said

Know what you mean. There are bound to be callous dairy farmers around but hopefully the times are a changing.

Ive read the book a couple of times. Ive lent the book to a friend and never got it back. Got another book, lent that and havnt got it back yet. Great book. Will have to see the movie.

Im glad you added not all. Im a dairy farmer and I have cried over the death of a cow more than once. When you get cows in twice a day, milk them twice a day, help them through a difficult calving, treat them for illness etc etc you cant but help to get to know them and although we have to do whats practical it isnt always easy.

I own and work with my dog Ruby on dairy farm. Have worked in kennels Worked for the pound in NZ doing beach patrols in holiday times Did volunteer work for SPCA in NZ in weekends going to call outs for mistreated, injured animals etc Competed in dog agility with a few different breeds of dogs eg GSD, Border Collie X Hunterway, ETT, Kelpie

We had a Rotty staying at the kennels I once worked at that had to be pts as she had damaged her back and was paralyzed. When the vet tried the vein it collapsed so he put it in her heart. She went very quickly. The distressing thing was that she was a pretty cranky dog and vet (her regular vet) said the most important thing was not to be bitten ourselves. I had to make up a device with a tube and rope to prevent her from biting the vet or me. It wasnt till she was just about gone that I could give her a cuddle. Poor old girl.

Thanks for that info. Pup will be at least 15 weeks so no problems.

Just a quick question. How old do pups have to be to fly international? (to NZ) Thanks in advance

Chronic Unknown Skin Condition - Desperate

Very Sorry. Life Sucks sometimes -
I read this before I spayed Ruby. It is a very good balanced paper and I have never had a vet mention any of the risks involved with spaying and neutering. At least having acess to this information we can make informed decisions. Maybe we all should take a copy to our vets. The main reason they want us to spay is to stop unwanted litters etc.

I agree with the other replies. Wait till at least 9 months. PF is right when she says socialising will help dog more than testicles.

Ruby my Kelpie hunts and catches rats and mice just like a cat would. She may have learnt it of our cat "Horse". So much for a soft mouth of a GR. In NZ rats carry lepto and I have known dogs that have died from it. I used to vaccinate my dogs for lepto.
