  1. The DWDQ ran a platform workshop up here run by Maree and Angie today, despite the rain and freezing cold weather it went ahead at Angie's place. It was a fabulous workshop showcasing all levels of platform work, everyone has gone home totaly inspired to get think about using platforms. Looking forward to the Michele Poulitt seminar up here in September
  2. We had a great weekend, just home now :) Schatzi got a 100% success rate with 4 quallies out of 4 entries. She got two Novice HTM passes, both with 1st places! Then she also got two Novice Freestyle passes with a 3rd and a 4th. That gave her, her Novice Freestyle title! Up to Intermediate with the big kids now Tora did well, no passes for her, but entering her was about building her confidence and she was definitely more confident on the second day and only missed out on a quallie by one mark - so I was happy :) All in all, a great weekend away dancing :D Congratulations you are doing so well with both Schatzi and Tora. It was lovely catching up with everyone again and meeting some newbies too
  3. Jarrah got his Intermediate freestyle title in November last year (thank you to Judge #2 BC4Me for my perfect 20/20 for musical interpretation! ) & we haven't done any work at all until this weekend because we were away for 5 weeks at christmas in the UK & I have been very slack. But I put in my entry on Friday for Advanced Freestyle at the Royal in August, so I thought I had better get myself organised & do some work. I went to see a friend today to get some ideas for my new routine, she told me she didn't think I needed help  , but I convinced her that I did & now I have so much stuff to learn it's scary . I will keep you posted on how it's going. Steve was a fantastic presenter, thanks Maree for suggesting that we should go & see him . Robyn your routine had some lovely choreography and I thought your interpretation of accents and beats was brilliant. Steve Austin is a wonderful presenter and well worth going to see glad you took my advise to come along for the week-end. I'm looking forward to judging again on Sunday. For those going it is freezing at Camp so take all your winter woolies :D
  4. Hey Rachel, glad you jumped in here, looking forward to catching up with you in a couple of weeks. I'm judging on the Sunday as I have a prior commitment on the Saturday. Seen you then
  5. And what is this Famous Friday night Cabaret? Hope that you do perform :) And sorry to hear that you've had surgery but glad that it went well. Friday night cabaret is fun. We all have dinner at 6:00 and after that we DWD girls and guys put on a display for everyone else. We can do a full routine or one we are practising, some maybe preparing a younger dog for performing to an audience etc. Cabaret's are always fun as there are no expectations and it's another excuse to get all dressed up and perform to a crowd.
  6. I'm sorry to say you can't use for finger to imitate shooting your dog you will be DQ and immediately asked to leave the ring. It simulates the use of a weapon rule 7.3(g) page 10 of the rule book. I'm heading off to Camp Tailwaggers tomorrow for a week-end seminar with Steve Austin. A few of the girls are doing the famous Friday night a cabaret not sure if I will be performing. I haven't done anything with the dogs for weeks as I have been recovering from some surgery so my boys are more than likely going to be feral   TASSIE - I look forward to meeting you when Kamal comes over in July.
  7. You posted your last sentence on the K9Pro forum a while back and it made me stop and think about what I was doing and how I was trying to push my dogs to do things beyond what they were capable of. Becoming aware of the holes we had in or training and fixing them when they arise has been vital and we are now gaining progress at a faster rate and our training sessions are so much fun. Thanks Vickie your ability to break things down so it is simple to understand is invalueable.
  8. I hope she feels better soon and yes I agree crate training is one of the best things you can teach your dog
  9. Yes it was the tears in the eyes one.. got them crying in the aisle again and even the judges was teary too. For those who might be interested our HTM routine was done to We will meet again and the artist was Andre Rieu and his band. Our Freestyle was John Farnham's Chain Reaction :) We did lose a point from two of the judges for Tux's vocalising that he was having a wow of a time. But I am willing to wear those points to see him work so happy :) And yes Meg's Mum and Dad was ever so pleased with Meg's new title :) And her music was The Little Drummer Boy Artist, The Red Hot Chilli Pipers Congrats I love it when people perform to strong emotional music. It gets people's attention because it's different.
  10. So you were told you could do no further damage and that it should be ok? These 2 bolded segments contradict each other. She is either ok or she's not. You said she was bothered by an ongoing shoulder injury with a degree of soreness, a torn muscle which was diagnosed only days before and you said her body is falling apart. I find it difficult to understand why you would want to put her through a long rechoreographed routine. If you were so hell bent on performing why didn't you just shorten the routine? How would the general public percieve the sport then if she had broken down mid routine and had to be carried out of the ring. One of the creeds in which the sport was based on "is the dog should never be put in harms way". In my opinion performing with known injuries to the extent that you sas she has is putting your dog in harms way. I know the sport of DWD is exciting and performing in front of large crowds is an adrenalin rush but honestly is it really worth putting your dogs health on the line?
  11. Congratulations to everyone who competed and also to those who gained quallies and or titles. :cheer: You guys are all doing so well.
  12. I can't believe you went ahead and attempted to perform a 3 1/2 minute routine at a demo when your dog was diagnosed with a torn muscle only days before. May I ask Why???
  13. Flick_Mac keep our chin up I have worked with some amazing vets over the last 7 years and it amazes me how clients think that vets are miracle workers. Sometimes vet & nurses do perform miracles and other times God gets the upper hand on us. Keep working towards your dream of becoming a vet you will meet so many wonderful pets and their caring owners, you will also meet some that you would rather forget.
  14. You might need to soak his dry food in some water but don't make it sloppy, just take the harness off it.
  15. I agree with Sheree I've seen lots of dentals abcesses and it extraction is the way to go. Once your vet gets into the mouth and has a good probe and look around each tooth and takes some xrays you will have a definate answer. Don't stress about losing teeth dogs cope quite well without them. Just a word of warning if he needs to have an extraction be prepared to feed meat/chicken chunks for 5-7 days as he should have stitches in his gum line where the tooth was taken. Dry food is too hard and wet food can get stuck in the wound so meat/chicken chunks are best.
  16. I love weird names, I had a german shepherd I called "Aspro" cause I knew he was going to be a headache (very headstrong dog) and called Ruff Nutt (He had ears all over the place as a puppy). I currently have border collies named Chook, Diddy, Wizza and Styler. If you put the names together you get.... Chook, Diddy Wizz in Style (not made up by me but my friends  ). Oh by the way Styler was orignally going to be called "De Mas" as in "come here you dumb arse" but since I do a sport where we get our names announced over a PA system I thought better of it.
  17. Tassie did very well gaining all four passes yesterday :) lovely routines too. It was lovely meeting you yesterday Margaret Deakes with Polly (who is a Dandie Dinmont Terrier) gained their HTM starters Title and also did very well in their first attempt at Freestyle with a lovely 1st place win. Gamby should be on here bragging too about her 2nd pass in HTM Novice and she also got second place. Tux and I did very well in gaining a pass in Freestyle Novice and we brought home a pretty blue ribbon that says first on it for our HTM Novice Routine. To say that I am proud of Tux is an understatement. 'My" Goldie's mum was sick so Meg stayed home. She is so disappointed that she missed out this time Congratulations Ballarat ODC on a very succesful day and it was great to see alot of club members doing so well in their very first attempt. Congrats and Well Done you should be proud of yourself and your dogs
  18. If anyone tried "experimenting" on my dogs I would be soooooo P*$$ed. If I was the owner of the kennels your working at and I found out you were experimenting on clients dogs, you would be out the door so quick you wouldn't know what hit you. I'm sorry but people do not leave their dogs in kennels to be used as guinea pigs, no matter how simple or complex your experiments maybe.
  19. We are having our second comp for the year tomorrow. :nahnah: It's an evening comp under cover at a small school 1/2 way to the Gold Coast so about 50min drive for us on the northside of Brisbane. Should be a great night. There are some lovely new competitors coming through as well.
  20. What a beautiful friendship.
  21. Surely one of them could dance too?!?!?! :D ETA - ahhhh puppybreath ... I agree  Congrats they are so cute. Do you have a name in mind??
  22. Good Luck, hope you all have fun and get some video for us all to see ;)
