  1. We had our last comp here in QLD last week-end. We saw some lovely new starters having a go in Rookies. I am looking forward to seeing them compete in starters next year. We had a thunder storm approaching just as the competition got underway and it hit during presentations. There were a few withdrawals with dogs not coping with the impending storm. But overall there were some lovely routines performed. My boy Chook just missed out on his Freestyler Intermediate title so now we will have to take all our props all the way up to Toowoomba early next year LOL. My highlight for the year was Chook performing at the Ekka and taking out first place in HTM Intermediate. For him to perform in that environment was amazing, I was so proud of him and the best part was we got it all on video. What was everybody else's highlights?
  2. Are you doing Freestyle or HTM and no you are not allowed to slip away into retirement just yet.
  3. You guys are going to have an awesome time
  4. To all my fellow vet nurses today is the day where our skills, service and passion for our jobs is recognised. It is often a difficult job being a vet nurse but one we do because we are passionate about the care we provide for our fur and human friends. Feel free to add your comments below and let your vet nurse know how you feel about them.
  5. I didn't notice you all being nervous, I was too busy watching the awesomely handsome man Roscoe in action
  6. I know what you mean, so much information is mind numbing LOL. It was nice meeting both you Lisey and the very handsome Booker he worked brilliantly. It was lovely meeting you too Elise pity you didn't bring Hudson along maybe next time :)
  7. Anything is achievable if you learn to use the tools correctly. I agree with Huski I've seen lots of good and bad pet owners & trainers try and use a method of training without totally understanding it. This only brings confusion to the dog and frustration to the handler. Can you train using R+, yes. Can you train using correction, yes. You need to find a way that works and makes a happy working partnership for you and your dog, learn how to use those methods correctly then you are on your way to success. Ask lots of questions education is the key to success.
  8. I'll be there with my not so naughty boys according to Steve  Assuming they are Border Collie's? :) They certainly are and might I say very pretty boys too Make sure you come and say HI :)
  9. I'll be there with my not so naughty boys according to Steve
  10. So glad to hear you enjoyed it Teekay the feedback from the consults so far has all been really fantastic. One more sleep for me before I head up there, so excited! ETA: My bag is already heavily packed with lots of goodies for our workshop attendees ;) Looking forward to catching up with you this week-end. I'll have a stash of secret lollies..... this time Daisy won't get them
  11. I am actually not sure on exact numbers, I am finalising the attendee list today or tomorrow. We should have around a dozen or so dogs each day, and I know there will be quite a mix of breeds. The Evil Beagle and Wizbang aren't coming this time, so I will be in need of some puppy pats and cuddles! LOL! :) So will Chook & Styler
  12. If it is anything like the windy storm we had last night we are in for a great time
  13. HI Everyone I have an Epson Artisan 837 printer and when I print my photo's they are all coming out with a bright red/pink tinge to them. I am using Epson inks and Epson glossy paper. My grandsons blue romper suit is coming out bright pink. I have tried adjusting the print settings but I can't get rid of the pink tinge. The photo's look fine on my lap top screen and even when I go to print preview. Any ideas????
  14. Wow lovely routine and congrats on your pass at the EKKA. Royal are such hard places to compete at in any dog sport and to get a pass is just fantastic :) Thanks, yes royals are the hardest place to work but I love the atmosphere. Even though I knew Styler's routine wasn't really ready to compete I put it in just so he could soak up the atmosphere and also to see what needed proofing. You don't get that environment anywhere else so I worked with it and although he didn't quallie we got a lot from the experience. When it comes to dog training I'm a big believer that you have to make the most of every opportunity that comes along.
  15. Thank you it was definitely hard work, Chook can be very frustrating to work one minute he is spot on and the next he is an airhead so when it all came together I was so stoked and I lost it at the end like a big blubbering baby
  16. The funny thing about the video is watch what walks past in the background at the 55sec and 1min 8sec mark remember I am performing to War of the Worlds. It was either an omen or just a plain freaky.
  17. What have we been doing..... Competing at the Brisbane Royal - The Ekka It is one of the hardest but fun venues to perform in. Our arena is a huge undercover tent area where large audience gather to watch up perform usually they are eating while watching us. The hard part is we perform on the same surface that the breed showing happens where they have been using food all day, bitches in season etc. I have entire male dogs who are food and people motivated you could imagine how difficult it is for my dogs. I also performed 2 new routines which was a huge or crazy thing to do. Although only 1 of my 3 routines came off the way I wanted it to I was happy with what they did. Our results were Chook 1st in Freestyle Intermediate (no quallie) with his new routine Super Mario and 1st Heelwork to Music (with a quallie score 159) with War of the Worlds and my young boy Styler 3rd Heelwork to Music Intermediate (no quallie) with new routine The Thunderbirds. Here is a link to Chook's HTM Intermediate Routine. (hopefully I have done it right, I'm not very techie LOL)
  18. It shouldn't be about what treat your using it should be about the reward experience your dog is having....
  19. Quite possibly, not 100% sure yet, someone does have to stay back to man K9 Pro HQ and look after our crazy Malinois! LOL! Come on Bec you need to come back for a visit ;)
  20. Only if you let her come back to QLD every now and then
