Just thought I'd let everyone know the international food village is gone. :D There is only the Greek place and basic show food vans near the dog pavillion. You will need to hike it to get some real food.

This is one of mine waking up from an anaesthetic

Tilly I know you said no pictures but I thought you might like to see these. I spared you any embarrassement and didn't post the pic of you flat on your butt. It was definately a great week-end now to decipher all my notes :D

I agree with you Robyn a great week-end. Steve is passionate about what he does and it comes across in the way he speaks, he is also very giving of his time and knowledge. Watching Steve work his dogs last year was amazing they only have eyes for him If only I could fit all the info into my head...... maybe Mr Magic Man could help me out there Camp Tailwagger is just awesome ;) Tilly I will post your pics tomorrow

Canberra: Dancing With Dogs
BC4ME replied to Cleo's Corgwyn's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
DWD is never boring you and your dog will love it By doing DWD my obedience has improved heaps, Chook thinks obedience is just one big DWD play session. I loved watching the obedience judges faces when we first started DWD, every now and then Chook would throw in a twist or turn in the middle of a heeling pattern it was hilarious luckily now he knows (well most of the time anyway ) only to do his tricks when given the correct signal and not just because I might be moving my hand slightly. Give it a go it is soooo much fun. :D -
Canberra: Dancing With Dogs
BC4ME replied to Cleo's Corgwyn's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Tony has been trying to get things up and running for a while now I hope you have a very successful night. :D Oh by the way the sport is called Dances With Dogs not Dancing With Dogs. It is more to recreation of movement with the dog (like Kevin Cosner did in Dances with Wolves) not physically dancing with your dog with bring up images of dogs in Tutu's which is not allowed. -
This Is Really Weird, I Have No Idea What Is Going On?
BC4ME replied to MrsD's topic in General Dog Discussion
Do you think that Jarrah just doesn't like you anymore Robyn ;) ;) No seriously have you cleaned the area, it sounds like something has marked that spot and Jarrah is not liking it at all. Clean all his bedding and the area around where he is sleeping see if this helps. If not you may have a ghost and you will need to contact Angie as I think her new DWD routine is Ghostbusters she should be able to help you get rid of any unwanted spirits. -
Chook and I also have our DWDF.S (Dances with Dog Freestyle Starters) title and I am also a ANKC DWD judge. It is an absolutely fantastic sport but very challenging. You not only have to get your dog working by either hand or verbal commands but do this in time to your music. It is a sport where you can talk and encourage the dogs while performing. It is open to any breed of dog, and you don't have to do particular "tricks" to advance through the classes you just need to choreograph a good working routine that enhances the dogs movement in time with yourself. There are 2 catagories to DWD Freestyle which is all your trickwork and HTM - Heelwork to Music. HTM you have 8 set positions around your body your dog needs to work in this is quite technical. You do not need to be able to "dance" but you need to be able to move around into different ways to enhance the tricks you are teaching your dog. This pic of Chook and myself was taken while performing at the Ekka last year. It is a great way of having fun while training your dog. I have found that since taking up DWD my obedience work is smartening up quite nicely. Not sure if this is allowed but the DWDQ have a competition at Brisbane Dog Obedience Club on Sat 17th July starting at 2pm for those in the Brisbane area who would loke to come along and have a look you are more than welcome.

We All have "Those nights/days" when we shoudn't train but we do and this only leads to frustration. We are lucky that our dogs are so forgiving. Don't beat yourself up over it. Boring BC's hey Bec .......... it's never boring around my place with 4 BC's to keep me entertained ;)
