But I'm sure you will get plenty of emails from me It was nice to meet so many DOLERS and put faces to names

  7. Go ahead and do it you will have soooo much fun. Tony is a lovely guy with the sports best interests at heart you will learn lots from him. Tell Tony the crazy BC lady in Brisbane says to say "Hello"
  8. I find myself always saying in my head that not everyone looks after their animals in the same way that I look after my own. I love my job as a vet nurse and euthansia's are something I consider myself good at. I like to think I can help this animal find a better place to be in with no pain and I can also help the owner through a very painful situation by some sympathetic words or maybe just to hold their hand or give them a hug when needed. Although these are very sad cases my next client maybe someone with a new puppy, so going from being really sad to very excited is the thing that I find draining. You deal with one client then take a deep breathe and onto the next one, while still worrying about the ones out the back recovering from surgery. My family knows when I've had a particularly hard day as I just go out the back and spend lots of time with my dogs who seem to understand that mum might need an extra cuddle or kiss from them. It's not just the euthansia's that make our job difficult it's holding little Fluffy that is trying his hardest to bite me and the vet while the vet attempts to look at his ears, it's trying to handle the cat that is lunging, hissing and spitting at me from inside her cage so I can sedate her, it's trying to keep an animal stable under anaesthetic that doesn't want to breathe properly, it's the endless cleaning, organising, keeping the vets on time, the paperwork, the ordering of stock, trying to keep up with the large amount of washing and many other day to day things that make my job interesting. I often go home from work with what I like to call "War Wounds" ie sctraches, bruises, sore muscles from holding or lifting animals. I've seen many nurses and vets come and go, this industry is not for the faint hearted. It is hard work for little money but self satisfaction outways these things. You definately have to have a passion and a cool head to be the someone special who will look after your pet as if it were my own while it is in my care. Do I love my job...... you bet I do.
  9. Forget about learning anything from Steve this workshop, I've just taught you one of the most important life lesson right there! Chocolate freckle + strawberry and cream = best thing ever! You forgot to mention the wine ..... you know you can't live without a bottle or 2 per day
  10. One less person to laugh at me if I decide to dance but looking forward to camp its a great place to getaway to. Oh and we usually learn something as well
  11. Ok i brought back the marker and he definitely associates that to a cross without me having to point at it which is good. There are 2 things: 1) For one side, he undo the crossing as soon as he crosses (ie bottom paw is lifted out as soon as the top crosses over) 2) As soon as i take away the marker, he doesn't know what to do Any pointers? thanks Q1. No reward is given when he just uncrosses his legs. Reward is only given when he waits with his legs crossed for a split second, then maybe 2 secs then 3secs and so you will build duration. Q2 This is telling me he doesn't understand the command go back using the marker slowly reduce the marker size so your dog understands the command this will take time don't rush. I would work on Q2 before I start trying for duration one thing at a time so as not to confuse him.
  12. He doesn't understand that he needs to touch the marker and not your hand. Go back and reteach using a good size marker plate don't use your other to point to the plate. Take each step slowly and Let your pup think about what he is doing. If you need to cue him you've gone to fast. Each step must be understood before moving on.
  13. Use a marker like a lid or small object for him to touch this elimnates your hand
  14. Meet and greet or checkin is around 5-5:30, dinner is normally around 6:00 after dinner usually 7:30ish some of the DWD girls have been invited to showcase our sport with their routines. Me ....... don't know yet
  15. Theres going to be a DWD cabert on Friday night.
  16. Bec do you want me to take notes so you can read them when you sober up ?????

  18. It's the Lottie Ness Monster
  19. GG because of where you live you need to ring both the morteon Shire council and the Brisbane city council to report Tess missing. Also ring every vet clinic within a 10km radius of where you live. Animals can run a long way when they are scared. We had a cat brought into us at work that lived on the other side of the town, the owner had no idea how she made it over this side of the river. I'm sorry you have lost Tess and I pray she is safe and well but this is a lesson as to the importance of updating microchip information, the chip is as only good as the information on it. I hope Tess is back with you tomorrow.
  20. Hi Everyone As a "Campaholic" at Camp Tailwaggers I can vouch that the facilities are the best you will get anywhere in the world. The one most important thing to remember is the camp is situated in a High Tick Area so make sure your dogs are protected. The cabins are all self contained but you do all your eating in the dining hall and the food is soooo Yumm you will want to go back to camp just for the food alone. Each cabin has its own fenced yard for your dogs to roam freely, dogs are allowed in the cabins but you are asked to keep your dogs off the beds. They do supply extra bed covers if you want your dog to sleep on the bed with you though. There should be some caravans for those that are too late in booking cabins and if you wanted to bring your own tent or van to camp, power can be supplied for those. Tailwaggers is set 1000ft above sea level High in the hinterland so bring warm clothes as it can get quite chilly no matter what time of the year it is. There is a fully fenced off leash area called Emerald Park so your dogs can have a run if you want. There are also signed walking tracks around the complex if you wanted to go for a morning walk before breakfast. Comfy chairs are supplied but you must bring a crate for your dog. I am looking forward to catching up with everyone.
  21. Zoff softens the glue and when you pull it off, the tape comes off but the glue often stays in the hair and is bugger to get off.
  22. Soak a cotton ball or 2 with Metho and dab on the tape really soaking it, it will come off only pulling the hair slightly. Just make sure no metho goes down his ear canal.
  23. Yup all my 4 BC's are on it for about 18 months. It works out with my lot to about $2 per day. It is the only product on the market that has Glucosamine Hydrochlorid, Green lipped mussels and Condroiton sulphate all in 1 product. I tried getting this in human form as I have bad knees and ankles from years of dancing and you can't get it in human form. It saves a lot of stuffing around figuring out the dosage rates for tablets and pills. I just mix it over the top of their food with a little bit of water to make a slurry, mine love it. You just need to shop around on line and you will get it cheaper than buying it from your vet.
  24. Glad you enjoyed the Dances with Dogs I was one of the judges today (the one with the blingy jeans )
  25. I think we've all done that at some stage or another
