Try looking for ballroom waltz CD they will have plenty of waltz's both fast and slow. How are you searching for your music? I use ITunes very simple and easy to search for songs.

For a royal I would use music that is a little more lively something that people can sing along with or clap along to, it's nice to have audience support. Here's a few just off the top of my head When I'm 64 - Beatles How Lucky Can You Get - Hot Shoe Shuffle These Boots Are Made for Walking - many different versions of this Stand By Me - Ben E King Fever - Michael Buble or the Peggy Lee version is also very good Any slow marching music is also good. At the moment I am doing James Bond with my young boy Styler and Black Box by Stan Walker with my older boy Chook they both have one qallie in HTM starters.

The morning show on Channel 9 are saying the same thing, ban the breed because they are viscious. I was very disappointed when Steve Austin agreed that the breed should be banned but he did go on to say that owners should take more responsibility.

Wow, could you provide some details on that? How was the collar fitted? Do you have photos? Poor dog. As for the rest, I think that this subject has nothing to do with whether anyone, personally, wants to use a pinch collar or not. IMO the only reasonable question is, is the pinch collar significantly more open to abuse or less safe than the other legal correction tools out there? Because if the pinch collar really is significantly less safe or easier to abuse than other legal correction tools, then maybe we should regulate them to a higher standard. If they aren't more dangerous, then banning them is at best going to pointlessly annoy dog trainers, and at worse is going to harm dogs (because if a pinch collar is safer than a check chain, for example, how does it help dogs if lots of the people who use a pinch collar now start to use a check chain instead?) My own personal experience is that the pinch collar is kinder and safer than a check chain, and on some dogs is less aversive than a head collar. I have never personally seen significant injuries caused by use of a pinch collar, martingale collar or a head collar, but check chains can definitely cause damage. If anyone can provide any evidence that I'm wrong, that pinch collars are significantly more likely to be abused or cause injuries than a check chain, I'll re-think my opinion. However, from what I've seen, I find that unlikely. Sorry don't have pics (it was quite a few years ago) but it was a small dog with very big bulgy eyes they had a halti on the dog wich was too big the dog pulled one way the owner pulled the other and the strap that comes across the nose slipped up and put pressure on the bottom of the eye and out popped the eyeball. Sadly the dog lost it's eye. It was very lucky though at one stage the owner was talking about euthanaising the animal due to the cost of surgery. I'll never forget the look on that dogs face as it was one of the first serious eye injuries I had ever seen.

Well, that's a relief. Did you tell them collars cause cancer? The internets says so, so it must be true. Ahh that's why you shouldn't believe everything you read you on the internet or in books which outdate quickly. People should actually step out into the real world and see what it's really like instead of hiding behind computer desks and under mountains of usless bits of paper that make them feel important.

My vets at work asked me to exlain to them what pinch collars and electric collars are as they had no idea what they did or how they worked. Most vets have no knowledge when it come to behaviour most will put them on Lovan or Clomicalm to slow them down and hope the problem resolves itself. I educated my vets on the good, the bad and the ugly truths and fictions of "ALL" types of collars and training equipment and training methods. They agreed that all collars can be harmful if not used correctly. In my time as a vet nurse in a large clinic I have seen 4 embedded flat collar injuries, 3 neck injuries caused by check chains, 1 eyeball popped out caused by a head collar that was fitted and used incorrectly and NO injuries caused by pinch or electric collars.

My D60 does have a little focus switch but it really doesn't do much change things. I don't like the idea or feeling of resting my glasses on the view finder this is why I take them off to shoot photo's.

Ooops, I'm sorry BC4ME, no idea how I managed that! ETA, I think I have fixed it now Alls Good

Extreme pain what a load of codswallop and yes I agree bring back caning there was a lot less disrespect in schools when it could be used. If you miss behaved and got caught you knew what the consecqences of your actions would be. I'd be more than happy to see the return of the cane. (Some) kids are so disrespectful now, teachers can't lay a hand on them and they damn well know it. All the teachers are allowed do is re-enforce the good.... Oh hang on, sound familiar? Much, much less than the hundreds of of other, more easily available tools that are misused every day. There are very few retailers of prong collars here in Australia and I am yet to find ONE who would be willing to sell a prong collar to a client without making sure that client has the knowledge to use it correctly. And yes, this includes those who sell them over the net. Just because you click the purchase button it does not mean that you are necessarily going to get it. Yes! This. Just a note the names in the above quote are wrong. I (BC4ME) stated Extreme pain what a load of codswallop and yes I agree bring back caning there was a lot less disrespect in schools when it could be used. If you miss behaved and got caught you knew what the consecqences of your actions would be. NOT YES!!! Exactly, we need to bring caning back too, used properly extreme pain is a most efficient teaching tool. Don't know how the names got mixed up there. ;)

Well Said

Well actually I consider myself pretty well educated about them and I wouldn't use one. Not something I say much on this forum as it usually results in some unpleasant comments from certain people. Some things I prefer not to discuss on forums - politics, religion and prong collars! May I ask in the nicest possible way where you got your education regarding pinch collars from?

I wear glasses for distance I don't normally wear them when I taking photo's as it is difficult to look down the view finder. I have a Nikon D60 and mostly use the auto focus button, although I am starting to experiment with manual focus and this is wear the problem lies. I can get nice photo's but a lot seem just off focus (they are clear but not as sharp as I would like) do you think this is because I'm not wearing my glasses and if so is there any way I can make is easier to see down the view finder wearing my glasses? :D

That's ok, the group is for people who do support the use of prong collars, you don't have to join (or use them - the beauty of choice, unless you live in Victoria where you don't have any) I don't use prong collars on my dogs but I believe the choice to use them should be available. I'm not a fan of tools like head collars, but I don't believe ANY tool should be banned - it's a slippery slope IMO and we should be focusing not on banning a tool but proper education on how, why and when to use them. Great words Bec. Education on the proper use of any training tool should be undertaken before you put any type of collar or lead on your dog. But sadly it is the uneducated that seem to scream the loudest only because the rest of us have done the research and learnt how humane pinch collars are. Educate Don't Prohibitate. ;) YES!!! A police dog to be bred to work and unfortunately their job is to protect their handler and the public at all costs even if the causes injury or death. I think it's time we gave our police force some support instead of critising every little thing they do. Oh yeah like the 8 year old kid who got chewed up big time in Ipswich by the police dog last year, shit happens ay the police new kids were around in that situation, failed to secure the raid and they got in the shit for it rightly so. I might say probably because someone else had the gumption to photo evidence it. It doesnt matter if the people are deadbeats. Police officers, not the dog, and dogs are not sworn in officers ffs not in this country, have the intellect to judge situations of potential harm, they get tax payer funded training in it. I would love to see the police enquiry conducted by the police The bolded sentence was meant to read injury or death to the dog. I'm not going to argue specific cases but I do know that if a K9 Unit turns up at a scene it is because the human police may need the dog and it's handlers help. Hence putting the dog and handlers lives at risk. Receiving tax funded training doesn't make it any easier when you are working in a high stress situation making split second decisions. God our policitians are elected by us, usually have the best eduaction and are funded by the tax payers and they can't get things right. No one is perfect. The media like to brow beat our police force for one to two bad judgements when 100's of good jobs go unrecognised. Think what it would be like to walk a week in a police officers life and see how easy it is. I am not a police officer nor am I married to one I believe these people and their dogs deserve more respect than they are given. After all when there is danger around who do you call...... the Police.
-
I am aware that the police have strict guidelines which must be followed and they have a duty of care to adhere to but unfortunately the badies don't always follow these guidelines they do anything and everything they can not to get caught, making the life hell for our police officers. It is a life often filled with instant decisions made under duress, then they are put through the wringer when things are over. The police officers love their dogs just like you and I do ours. They don't like putting them in situations of great danger but if it came down to a human life versus a dogs life I know who's life would be lost. A police dog to be bred to work and unfortunately their job is to protect their handler and the public at all costs even if the causes injury or death. I think it's time we gave our police force some support instead of critising every little thing they do.

Need A New Heelwork To Music Song
BC4ME replied to BC4ME's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Thanks everyone for all your ideas. Most of the suggestions have been done before or are presently being used. You can use a piece of music that someone else has used but its nice to come up with something new or different when performing. I have gone with Click Go the Shears which will suit the Ekka theme city meets country)well and also the crowd should clap along nicely. All I need to do now is get my dog working nicely too Wish me luck I'm going to need it ;) -

You all have some great songs some of them have either been done or are being done at the moment. I'm looking for something different but what I don't know. 500 miles is on the top of my list at the moment though it was a great song and everyone knows it. But keep the ideas coming -

Thanks for the replies. Because Chook is a funny dog with heaps of personality I was thinking something upbeat and catchy, something everyone can sing along to.
