  1. Unfortunately our dining room doesnt have that much light - it is our outdoor setting! The day was beautiful and the light coming on to the table was great! Yep pretty much ;) And even things that did move (Leila)! OH spent most of the day walking around with no or little clothes on knowing that there was no way I was going to take photos of him as much as he wanted me to! Good thing we didnt get any visitors! The first shot of Leila was one of my first which made me very happy with the little camera!
  2. Leila (GSP) is 18 months old and only now she is just starting to get better with her recalls and I work on it every time I go out - sit, stay, COME!. She is still mostly kept on a long line. As stupid as it may feel at the time make sure the rewards are a jackpot! The best advice we got from here was to use chicken wings/chicken maryland/raw sausage. They just can't believe it when they come back and you produce something like that! Not all the time, just every so often so it is really exciting! The raw sausage is particularly bad to be dishing out but it pretty much guarantees that Leila will come back to us. Just wait until adolescence sets in - you wont even get a reaction!!!
  3. On line price was $900 including delivery, JB price was $950 and even then it was still $100 less than their advertised price so not bad. Plus we got a backpack and SD card all for less than the advertised price. I'll get filters and other things online when I figure out what I need I think. Harvey Norman wouldnt even entertain the online price, but I didnt think they would.
  4. I dont yet have any of Leila running around at the park because I havent figured out how do take photos and keep her under control at the same time!
  5. Here are the first photos from my new Canon 450D. I have deleted so many photos but have tried just about everything on every automatic option possible. I definately need to do a course but having fun playing for now. A most unwilling subject...Leila "Leila at the footy" This was a total fluke when I was playing with the 55-250mm lens. I quite like it except the top of her head is cut off. Stop taking photos of me, I've had enough!
  6. We went with JB in the end and they gave us a great deal. Very happy with my new purchase! I just really hate playing the games. We tried Harvey Norman because OH has got so much stuff from them and they were useless!
  7. That was an option. OH is going to drop in to JB this arvo and see how receptive they are to price matching to a website. He is much better at negotiating for things like that than me.
  8. I am looking at getting a Canon EOS 450D Twin IS lens Kit with 18-55mm adn 55-250mm IS lenses. It will be my first digital SLR. The best price have found this camera and lens kit for $1069 at JB Hifi but have just found it on topbuy.com.au for $858.65 (plus $45 shipping). This price fits my budget much better (although willing to go over budget) but it just sounds too good to be true but it all seems to look ok. Has anyone bought any camera supplies from topbuy.com.au? or do you think buying it from JB is a better idea. Do people also recommend getting an extended warranty? And do you get a Canon warranty or retailers warranty?
  9. Flat collar and lead (cotton horse lead rope atm because I prefer the weight and feel) and long line at the park.
  10. Sounds like you are talking about Leila... Thread is busy...I cant keep up But I love puppies!!!
  11. She is a nutter!! SO much energy! More than a lab!! Yep you've got it spot on. Quite often described as a german shorthaired nutter! And many other expletives in her time!
  12. Leila is disapointed you dont want a GSP... she is a poser!
  13. We got one of the ones from Coles with the tassles. It smelled funny when I first got it and washed it...it now smells doggy! Leila needs a trip to the beach! Yep! I have noticed the static, it's bad around the house but even worse in the metal crate. Leila doesnt care, she just loves to be warm and toasty! Her hot pink polar fleece coat from Warls also is really staticy but there is no way she is letting us take it off her!
  14. And I have one knackered puppy. I didnt think she would be that tired but since about 2pm she has been curled up in a little ball in her bed!
  15. Great photos! I'm impressed you were able to catch Leila with a ball....all I have ever managed to get is a blur of brown!!
  16. We ordered from them on Sunday for the first time and still havent recieved ours yet although they did say 4-7 days. And we saved quite a bit of money so are happy. We have just run out so poor Leila is getting random meals. Im getting lost of looks that say "what the hell is this???" then " actually, it tastes quite good!!"
  17. Leila is a cryer. She crys when she does everything - chasing a ball around the yard, burying a bone, asking for dinner. At first we were really worried that she had separation issues then we put her outside but then realised she did it all the time. The first dog she played with was a staffy so she is a growler when she plays with other dogs.
  18. Fantastic photo! I swam with them in Exmouth about 10 years ago and it was fantastic! I took a camera with me but didnt take any photos because I was too busy trying to keep up with them! My sister is up there at the moment and has booked a swim in.
  19. That was my thread and it was in off-topic (very dark photo of the eiffel tower!). I wasnt impressed either - they were way too dark as well. The entire 400 photos must have all printed on the same settings. I'm still disapointed and trying to figure out the best place to go next. I am not going to be a tight-ass when I get them re-done and go for quality and service.
  20. I saw it during better homes and gardens (channel 7) tonight. I didnt even know it was the ad until it was over. Fantastic photo!! And I have just got around to looking at your redbubble site - your photos are stunning, they have so much character!
  21. Cheers for the advice. I found some great looking and large lamb offcuts that had all the fat attached on Wednesday night (3 peices totalling 1.3kg for $4.50) at woolies. The quality looked better than some of the expensive steak they had! I dont usually get meat from woolies. So I'll add more meaty bits with fat and see how we go. The advice I recieved in the GSP thread seemed to indicate that it is quite common and she does suffer in the cold.
  22. Leila is skinny. She is 17 months old and very teenager like but her back hips are boney and she is ribby. She is up-to-date with her worming and spot-on treatment, her coat is shiny and healthy, she is as bouncy as ever and the vet was happy with her when she went for her annual vac and check-up. I have noticed that she feels the cold a lot so she has the best ever crate which is covered and indoors, an indoor fleecy coat ( :D SBT123) which she wears to bed and an outdoor one for when it is cold at night and she has to be out/for walks. She also has a kennel with plenty of blankets when she is outside. Do you think she might just drop weight because it is cold? Temps at night are about 2-8 degrees and 20ish during the day here at the moment. She is eating more than during summer - 2+ cups of Nutro chicken AM and PM (up until last week it was the lamb variety but she has gone off that, I think the bag bag went stale), with 2 chicken wings and a chunk of lamb neck in the morning Or just a chicken a carcass with a few biscuits for a meal. Plus training treats. We choose to feed a kibble base with heaps of extras just because it is convenient. She weighs about 25 kgs. This is what her kibble contains and she loves it (and so does the cat): Nutro Natural Choice GUARANTEED ANALYSIS Crude Protein (Min.).........22.0% Crude Fat (Min.)................13.0% Crude Fibre (Max.).............5.0% Moisture (Max)..................10.0% Ash (Max.)............................7.5% Salt (as NaCl) (Max.).......1.2% Linoleic Acid (Min.)..........3.5% Zinc (Min.)................430mg/kg Vitamin E (Min.)........500IU/kg Vitamin C (Min.)......200mg/kg INGREDIENTS Dried Chicken, Ground Rice, Rice Flour, Dried Beet Pulp, Chicken Fat, Sunflower Oil, Natural Flavours, Oatmeal, Iodised Salt, Potassium Chloride, Choline Chloride, Taurine, Natural Antioxidants (including Mixed Tocopherols and Rosemary Extract), Vitamin C, Vitamin E Supplement, Zinc Sulphate, Marigold Meal, Dried Kelp, Ferrous Sulphate, Copper Sulphate, Calcium Pantothenate, Vitamin A Supplement, Biotin, Riboflavin Supplement (source of Vitamin B2), Vitamin B12 Supplement, Potassium Iodide, Thiamine Hydrochloride (source of Vitamin B1), Niacin Supplement, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Selenium, Vitamin B6, Folic Acid. Has anyone got any suggestions about what to add to put weight on?
  23. I of know Gail and her propoerty - I agisted a horse there years and years ago (we're talking about 15 years ago now) and Gail is a good instructor. If I had a horse again and could afford it, I would do most of my riding in lessons. Now I just deal with a crazy GSP instead!
  24. You'd be close to where Leila's breeder is - Katydid GSPs are on the left after Utah Rd near the christmas tree farm with all their Alpacas! vCBR, who are you having the lesson with out there? I have been out of horses for about 2 years and thinking about wanting to get back in too although I have come to the realisation that I have the $ but not the time so might just have to be happy with regular lessons. Unfortunately I did 2"6 eventing as a teenager and since then mainly prelim but a bit of novice dressage so I'm not happy with the occasional trail ride or uneducated horses!
  25. We have had Leila on the adult lamb variety for nearly 6 months and are very happy. Nice coat, firm stools, she goes nuts for it and she doesnt fart anymore! Advance didnt work for her and she smelt bad! She get all sorts of other stuff like chicken wings, chicken carcasses, RMBs and occasionally sardines for variety but would be happy feeding her only on the kibble.
