Our gorgeous 18 month old happy boy Archie wags at anything and everything, it is non-stop ! If he's lying down, I can whisper pretty much anything from 'good boy' to 'I'm gonna make the dinner now' and thump thump thump ! In fact, we are a bit mean and try and say or do all kinds of things to get him to wag. It makes us feel so good - and presumably he's feeling good too ! Do some dogs just not wag that much ?

When our pup was young, we bought some of that cheapish runner carpet you can get by the metre from Bunnings. This meant he didn't slip down our floorboards, particularly the hallway. Once he was more surefooted we got rid of it, although he still slips now and then.

RIP little man.

German Shepherd Died In Tragic Accident
mrs tornsocks replied to Riley'n'Mia's topic in General Dog Discussion
oh my goodness, that's so sad - so sorry for your loss. I think 'gone to heaven' or whatever you find appropriate to say he's gone away forever is okay. I agree the idea of sleep will make Audrey think he's coming back, or waking up. Hugs to you and your family. -
and next time guests come for a cuppa .... do you take one or two sugars ??

think of a bitch's anatomy... sperm needs to placed a fair way in to have a chance at fertilisation.... I guess, but I just thought it was all relative - ie smaller female uterus, smaller male penis.

Holiday Boarding - Uneasy 2nd Thoughts
mrs tornsocks replied to Skruffy n Flea's topic in General Dog Discussion
Hi MM, sorry to butt in here, but I wuold be really interested in getting in touch with a house/dog sitter for when my OH and I are away with work occasionally. Can I trouble you for their contact ? -
Holiday Boarding - Uneasy 2nd Thoughts

agree with others. You will just be stressed and that's the last thing you want on holidays. Is there any shelter / protection at all for the doggies ?? -
And do the full tie!! If a dog's penis can't go back, don't wait too long until you get help, though, because it can be very painful. Yes, that's what we were worried about that if it stayed out we'd be in further trouble. There's no other way to put this, but I was at the actual size of it when it was out. It was seriously about 10cm long, is that normal for an 18 month old ????

I mentioned this post to him tdierikx - now he keeps reminding me.

He stops pretty quickly when told -- and I'm 99% sure he doesn't hump when we're not here. It's just this one red velvety pillow .....
-
Yes, I think we have a consensus in the Tornsocks household on that one. Poor fella is lying on the lounge recovering from the stress. And so is Archie
-
It's just never really been an issue. We tell him to stop now and then, and he does. He's not an outrageous humper, just a bit ocasionally with his pillow in the laundry, then comes back to the loungeroom. obviously the penis situation is something to be very careful of, but other than that, do you think they should be stopped from humping ? Or because of that danger alone ? He's an otherwise well behaved and non-dominant dog. And yes, it was mightily enlarged. Yuk.

OMG Archie's donger just got stuck out following a little humping session with his favourite pillow; he stood there for about 4-5 mins with it out, looked very uncomfortable (my god it is long, sorry for TMI) I charged OH (since he's a boy) with the job of getting it back in and he got the latex gloves and vegetable oil (thanks Teebs / DOL for a previous post). Just as the oil went into the plastic container, it went back in. He's been licking it since and it's very red and sore-looking, do you think we need to do anything ? ps. he's desexed pps. and now OH is doing the washing up saying to the dog 'did someone get his todger stuuuccck ??'

omg, these are gorgeous!

Yes, Archie's favourite time too. He's fascinated by the water filling up, then scratches at the drain on the floor when he hears the water going down. Also tries to lap at the bubbles :-)

couple of oldies, but goodies ...

Naughty Mindy !!! Don't really have a solution for you but my boy only counter surfed the once. He found a tub of butter and when OH found him hoeing into it, Archie got roused on with a vengeance (OH forgot the positive reinforcement training I'd given him ). Anyway, Arch never did it again - in fact this morning his nose got a little too close to the bench but I'm confident he would never go any further. Still, we keep pretty much everything is out of harm's way.

I Named My Dog The Wrong Name

Gorgeous girl ... so sweet BM. -
Describes my boy pretty well too --- but he's a lab. Never any dead birds when we get home, he's nearly 18 months.

where are you located sookeh ? Hills dog club is good by all accounts, but yes would be good to find another decent puppy school.
-
Great catal-dog !!!! Orbit looks so handsome - and they even quoted him !!!

I got one !!!

Oh boy, how heartbreaking, I'm sorry to hear this. RIP Vader and sympathies to you and the prospective owner. Is there another litter planned in the not-too-distant-future. These things can happen - the breeder of our first pup was minding him @ age 14 weeks while we went away. I had given my mother's number as an emergency and on our last night, my Mum rang me in tears to tell me he'd been run over by a tractor driven by the breeder. My OH and I were talking about it last night in fact (happened a year ago) and we agreed that as much as we loved the little fella that went to doggie heaven, we would never have had our Archie. As sad as it is, another little pup will fill the lives of the owners.

Dog Sucking In Air Forcefully?
mrs tornsocks replied to lanabanana's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
google reverse sneeze or search on you tube and see if this is it. My boy had it once, it freaked me out a bit but is harmless and he's nver experienced it again. Good luck !
