how sweet -- what size puppy is she going to have to share with ?
-
Yes, I asked and they had no idea. They said she had gotten out once. Thats all it takes I guess! I'm thinking Mischa?? What do you think? mollie and mischa is very cute :D
-
what an amazing - and cute- little surprise. You have alot of expert advice here (I love DOL), I have no experience in whelping or babies ... but just want to wish you best of luck with the little pup and Mollie. Just out of interest, did you let the previous owners know, not sure if you know them or not. Any clue about Dad ? And does the baby have a name yet ?

My Lab Pup Tana And His Best Buddy
mrs tornsocks replied to labsrule's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
Beautiful labsrule. I hope Archie can meet your boys soon ... -
oh so scary, this is one of my worst nightmares. so glad he is okay. Take some time to read in various posts here about bones and what is suitable -- you would be very surprised at how our pooches can gobble down something that seems way too big for them - their gullets are incredible. I would say ensure bones are so large he could not possibly swallow. I never buy those 'lamb bones' they package in the pet section of the supermarket == some of them are just too small. Brisket bones are softer and easier to chew, and other things like chicken frames/wings/necks or turkey necks for something a little bigger.

My Dog Ate Something Totally Grose
mrs tornsocks replied to mrs tornsocks's topic in General Dog Discussion
Hehe, I keep threatening OH with 'kisses from the nappy boy' .. and then encouraging Archie to go up to OH where he almost always wants to lick him normally anyway .. or his other name is now 'poo pooch.' I just use the same tone as when I say 'where's Daddy ? where's Daddy?' and he runs to him, mouth open. I will have to remember the bathroom wastebin too, that is worse than a baby nappy I reckon. -

Oh my god, people !! I mean, dogs ! I just read these out to OH and we both did all the errrr, ewwww noises that should accompany. Although I got home late tonight and only told OH after he'd been playing with Archie for a bit. Not sure if there were any kisses Archie is quite okay, I just hope he hasn't got the 'taste'. -

Ew, so I guess it's nappy inspection time. How do I tell if it's crystal or peatmoss ??? -
If you're squeamish, click away now. I sometimes let Archie sit out the front, which is fenced from the street, but not from one side of the neighbours. I work in my home office so I can usually see him and what he's up to. He was out of my sight for about 5, maybe 10 minutes while I was on a call, then when I went outside to find him, he was sitting in front garden of neighbours, eating something. It was a baby's pooey nappy. Next door has a little bubba but they are a very respectable young couple -- I have no idea how a dirty nappy got into their front garden but they just moved in so who knows ? Must've fallen out of the rubbish or something. Archie won't get too sick from it will he ?

Can Eveyone Please Check Out My Golden Retriever
mrs tornsocks replied to Emmajin's topic in General Dog Discussion
Hi Emmajin We had exactly the same 'worry' with our labrador retriever at this age. He looked like a skinny gangly fella and was all legs. We upped his food just a little bit (about 3 cups of Royal Canin, twice a day) and he is now filling out nicely, still nice and slim though, but not so gangly. He is now 10 months old. I would not be too concerned as long as he's had all the health checks (worming etc as others have mentioned). Have you tried maybe walking for 30 minutes and then doing some additional training/supervised play sessions at home ? I would not be walking him this long as they are still growing bones and joints etc. Even some hide and seek type exercises (ie sniff out food etc) are good because they also tire him out using his mind and senses. He doesn't need to be constantly exerting himself physically to get stimulation and ultimately, to calm him down a bit. edited to add -- it was about 5-6 months that we cut our boys feeds down to 2 per day. You can obviously adjust the amount. -
16 Week Puppy Wakes Up At 4am And Won't Go Back To Sleep
mrs tornsocks replied to springer11's topic in Puppy Chat
If you can't keep him awake until 10.30 or so, what time is he going to bed ? It sounds like you need to get him tuned to YOUR routine --- how long have you had him and has this behaviour jsut started ? -
I just realised and I hope I've got this right -- is it Lexie or Chloe the girl you got after the other little one so tragically went to the bridge ? Our bouncing baby boy Archie is now 10 months and 30kgs ! (we lost our pup around the same time as yours I recall)
-
oh how cuuuuuuuute ! she is transfixed by the candle (or is it the yum yums ?? ) happy b'day chloe !
-
I am glad to read this thread and see others are in the same boat but -- my boy is 10 months. Please tell me he's got plenty of time to learn not to pull ? My 30kg weights session every morning is starting to make my left arm a little out of proportion.

This kind of prompted my question in a way. Archie sleeps inside in his crate -- but I think he gets hot in it; a few times I he's barked to wake us up, I let him out thinking it was toilet, but he's panting and flops down on the deck outside. He's only done this once or twice coz most of the time I keep the air con on. He might be cooler if he can just sleep wherever he likes, but I don't want to leave him free to roam inside the house because he moves and walks around alot and schnuffles and licks his boy bits and that keeps us awake (we can't close our bedroom door, long story). There is no-where in the house we can shut a door and not hear him schnuffle. I think I might try him outside for a bit while it's still hot and put his crate out there so he's still got his 'security' bed if that's where he wants to sleep. I was thinking he can come sleep back inside when weather starts to cool down; just not sure if I'm giving him a 'confusing' message.

Hi, do people think I should still take it easy on my lab's joints etc by limiting his walks ? He has about 30-40 minutes a day, usually early in the morning, and usually to a park or beach where he runs off lead for a while. I think he would LOVE another walk because he just loves the sights sounds and smells, although if he's at home, he'll mostly lounge about during the day (ie not too flighty)
-
Do you / would you leave air con on all night to keep your dog cool ? Ours is in the loungeroom, where he sleeps, if I turned it off it wouldn't make a difference to me, but it might to him. I wonder if that's a little extravagent given bills/energy consumption ?

This One Time, At The Dog Park.....
mrs tornsocks replied to SeeGee's topic in General Dog Discussion
That's exactly what I mean, you want to just give them the biggest cuddle ever when they do something like that. Not silly at all, you should be proud of your pooch. I let my boy sit out the front of the house around school-run time, because there are normally more people walking by. My office is at the front, so I can hear all the people coo-ing at him. It makes me smile with pride (and he isn't even recalling properly !) -
My Cooler Bed Has Arrived !
mrs tornsocks replied to mrs tornsocks's topic in General Dog Discussion
well ... to make up for it today, I bought me a new dress, a new belt and a juicer. Nothing that Archie can sleep on. Don't bet on it... well ... as it happened ... he went all quiet at the end of the house where the bedroom is and I remembered I'd left the new (not inexpensive) dress in its bag on the floor, so I raced down there. He had managed to somehow find a pair of, erm, knickers - and let's just say he didn't get them out of the drawer -- and was trying to make his new bed on those. -

Great feeling huh ? -
yeh, mine's doing a few loop da loops with the rain. Usually by this time the only movement he makes is to stretch in his luxurious slumber. But he keeps coming to me on the couch and panting and wanting plays.
-
what is their purpose anyway ???
-
got it on last night finally. Mmmmmm, soft pads, so lovely.
