Okise got some sketches done already (thanks again so much for the picas) First is of Shekhina's lovely dog The second is of TerraNik's lovely Ahsoka Not that great sketches, but just working on proportions etc at the moment, as well as angles etc. The fluffy dogs are alot harder to do as a quick sketch cause there is so much detail in them, but look forward to doing more of them when I get to the next stage, Texture and Fur Thanks again

Howdy. I am hoping that some people might be able to give provide some photos I can use as referances so I can improve my drawing. I hope to do a study of dogs, beginning with quick sketches to get form and proportions, then moving onto more detail later. There are lots of picas on the net, but I hate to use photos that I have not go permission to use as I would like to post the sketches in my deviantart account http://altheau.deviantart.com/ I am not a super great artist, but I enjoy it I am after clear pictures of a single dog, any breed, size profile or angle (prefer untouched). If you can that would be great, if not thanks for considering it =]

Might be a dumb question, but why are there certain colours that are highly undersirable? Is this just for showing, or does it possibly indicate something else about the dog that pet owners should know?

I hope your poor dogg is feeling better soon. My thoughts are with you -
The only ointment I know of for cows teats is potties white ointment maybe? http://www.sykes.net.au/potties/whiteointment.htm They have a green ointment as well which is great for scratches and cuts. http://www.sykes.net.au/potties/greenointment.htm We used to use white ointment all the time with the horses, was good as it kept wounds soft and pliable as well as flies out. Not sure how good it would be or if you can use it for dogs, but it lists the ingredients on the sites listed. You can get both at most saddlerys or stock feed places.

Reasonable Timeframe To Put On 2kg
altheau replied to altheau's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
At the moment she gets In the morning a Kong full of science diet, a chicken stick and sealed with optimum dog food, and closed with doggie cookie. She also gets something to chew on like a bone or a denta bone stuffed into a kong (otherwise one chomp and it is gone ) to keep her amused while we are at work. At night she gets Science Diet, Optimum and some mixed vegies. She also gets a couple of treats when we go out walking (Mainly for things like listening to me when there is another dog around) and a few for training. As far as excercise goes we have only been able to start walking from Saturday as she has been in season (so we played lots of fetch). But since Saturday she gets a walk twice a day for at least 20mins but usually 40+ each. Every second day during the week i run (not very fast) and she comes with me. We also have at least one session of fetch till she is puffing. I just ordered her a backpack as she does not seem to get tired at all when we go for walks and i think she would like it (everyone elses dogs seem to ) We will be monitoring her weight pretty closely and adjust her food as needed of course, but so far she is at least maintaining her weight, but I think she looks to have put on a little bit of weight. Another question out of curiosity, she is due to be desexed on the 6th of july, does desexing usually cause them to gain weight or not really? -
Reasonable Timeframe To Put On 2kg

I have to admit I have never had to work on getting an animal to put on weight before (Any dogs had previously where purchased from puppies so they were well fed from the get go). When I think about it 2kg on a doggy that is only 13-14kg to start off with is quite a bit, like 1/7th of her current weight, so 2-3 months does make sense. -
Reasonable Timeframe To Put On 2kg

Would have to depend on the breed & the age of the dog We picked her up from the pound so I can not say what breeding for sure, definatly some staffy, but is built more like a kelpie (possibly) and she is mature, somewhere between 2.5 and 4yrs the vet said. -
Hi Guys, When we went to the vet for something else, he said that Yuki could probably stand to put on at least 2 more kg, she is currently 13-14kg. If you where trying to put about 2kg on your dog, what do you think would be a reasonable timeframe for them to gain it in? I want her to put on the weight but I am not sure how long it would take to do this in a healthy manner. Any input would be appreciated (I should have asked the vet but I did not think fo it at the time, we are due to see him again next week so will get to see if she has gained any weight then) thanks

I just bought a Canon 450D (as they are on sale now as the new model, the 500 is out, so you can possibly get a really nice deal on them) I have found that liveview is not needed as i thought it would be as the viewfinder is quite a bit larger then the ones on the old point and click ones, so it is easier to use. I have never had a SLR of any type before so it is all new to me and I think it will be a little while before I get any really awesome shots, that said the presets functions are not to bad. I got the 450D over the D60 as it felt better in my hands, I wanted it for skiing so something easy to hold onto was important so it did not end up in the snow
