  1. So many lovely dogs, so many wise faces =]
  2. I need to practice some portrait shots, so I forced Yuki to strike a pose for me. Here are my favs, I have not edited them at all as I would like to work on getting a reasonable result out of my camera, then when I can get reasonable shots out of the camera hopefully I won't need to edit them much ;p Ok so I cropped the last one, just experimenting. If anyone had the time for a C&C that would be fab, if not no problem =] shots where taken with 50mm lens =]
  3. Gorgeous! What a lovely boofa. I don't think I could ever tire of your photos =]
  4. I would love a puppy and everything that goes with it reality is though that i will probably look for either a senior or a mature dog that needs a home from the pound or rescue. I don't want a dog for any particular reason then to love, so I think it would be the best idea
  5. I am just so proud of my girl that I had to tell everyone! We have been going to dog training (this was our 6th week). Previous to this I have had quite a few problems with Yuki lunging and barking/growling at other dogs, all fear/anxiety related. Well tonight she was just fantastic, a real turning point I think. She actually showed friendly interest in one of the dogs in our class, he was lovely and friendly as well and his owner was really understanding to keep their chat short when I asked, so she did not get a chance to feel stressed. From then on her tolerance level halved. I walked past dogs, had her butt sniffed by one in passing, she was even barked at by one dog (usually she will rise to another dogs level), she either ignored it or kept going with only the slightest prompting from me (and a cookie ) Even when we where walking through the car park when we where leaving (generally her attention is all gone by then) she kept most of her attention on me and we quietly squeezed through the gate behind a lovely little puppy and a lab that were having a meet and greet. Of course I know she is not cured (she still did bark at one particular dog in our class a bit) but she is so much better. I can't believe how much she has turned around in the last few weeks. I am so happy with her, I love my dog.
  6. Ok so that is not 2 thinks on the list that Yuki is to never find out What pillows are made of (cause she loved to tear the stuffing out of things), and what is in the toilet (as she loves to play in water like that dog)
  7. Fantastic result !!!!!!! well done and well deserved =]
  8. WOW that is fantastic. Crossing fingers and toes for you!!!!
  9. I love Maverick's colour :D Looks like quite a family you have, I bet they provide plenty of entertainment. Hope those cats are keeping little Hector in line ;p
  10. what a lovely boy. I agree the first picture is lovely, defiantly my fav. The rest are lovely to. =]
  11. Thanks goodness. Glad it came in early and under budjet
  12. Posted them here http://picasaweb.google.com/altheau/CanberraShow2010# (easier then e-mailing them etc) For his first big trial he was really well composed and defiantly looked like the best dog of the guys doing the jumps and tunnels. You should be proud, job well done! Very true on the Pepe front, although I got clear shots, most of them where of him leaving rather then arriving at the feature ;p
  13. FHRP: I have some more of your guy (weaving and stuff) if you would like them nikivds: Thanks for the names (I will update the original post) your little Pepe is gorgeous, but darn hard to take photos of . . . so fast. I got a couple of photos of Nossi as well, but they where not as good as the tunnel one. Well done on the result! It was good to see such lovely dogs having a great time with their owners.
  14. Haha yeah I love the real superman jumping dogs, they were so funny to watch
  15. Kristin I really like the format of your personal blog, it looks lovely well done with it !
  16. Flyball Sorry some of the photos are not great, I am trying to get better. Unfortunately it was hard to find a good spot to take photos for the fly ball. More photos here Canberra Shoe 2010 - Agility and Flyball
  17. I headed down to Canberra show today to try and grab some reference photos for my drawing etc, thought I might share some of them. I unfortunately do not know who any of the lovely doggies belong to, but they all looked think they where having a great time, it was really nice to see! Agility
  18. I think the changes always come when an animal makes the change from a necessity to an indulgence. It has happened with horses as well (lots go to the doggers) but the only blessing there is that horses only have one foal at a time and not a litter. There are of course still working dogs and horses but I would think the majority are for pleasure now and not for hunting/farming/guarding etc.
  19. I think this picture is great, it has alot of feeling.
