  1. Hey guys I have a question.. I decided not to show Luuka in Mackay this weekend past because she had tender mouth still from having some teeth out but I didn't notify the show co-ordinators (I was advised that I didn't have to). However, I just realised that I did not receive numbers or a catalogue or anything. That's a bit strange isn't it? I paid my entry fees...
  2. Sort of like this! Thank you very much that's a fantastic start
  3. Hey guys, I can't seem to find the collar/lead that I want online, I think I'm just not looking properly but I've been through some big sites and I can't find them dangit. It was a lovely soft purple martingale collar/lead combination and it was perfect for Luuka. I realise it'll probably get to be too small soon anyway so I don't mind buying a new one really. This collar was perfect for showing as well. Can anyone help? Thanks!
  4. EDIT: Ahh you know what, I prob better not comment. Suffice to say, what a horrible person Also should add, this was the front page of the paper today, but there was also a really great article about a boy who wouldn't give up looking for his beloved dog and eventually FOUND him in Brisbane after getting a train ticket and going to find him! Then the RSPCA (hmph) sponsored Dogtainers to get him back to Rockhampton.
  5. I could actually crate her, that's not a bad idea when she's upstairs, I guess the only real point to her being up there is to run around with the other dogs though so maybe it's pointless. It is my preference that she stays downstairs, she has a MASSIVE amount of room to run around, I'll try to think up some stuff for her to do to keep her brain occupied. I bought her a treat ball and Cuz toy today, and I want to start taking her just for a 20 min walk in the morning instead of just in the afternoon. Hopefully that'll entertain/tire her out for a part of the morning at least while the other dogs are still in bed (I start earlier than the mums). Thanks heaps for the advice everyone I totally take all responsibility for her, this has been one crazy week it'll be great when things go back to 'normal' (no more big shocks please) and I can spend the usual amount of time with her She'll be sick of me by the end of this weekend, day off and a vet visit tomorrow then taking her to a show (not entered just looking) on Sat/Sun.
  6. I totally agree, that is a really good way of putting it! I think she has a bit of a cry if she's down there alone but that probably means I need to give her more stimulating things to do.
  7. Okay so at the moment I'm at my mum's house in between moving out from the place I had with my ex and moving out by myself somewhere (probably mid-year). There are some little issues with Luuka, my mums are pretty reasonable people so they're not like throwing a tanty or anything but it is their house and I am desperate to not be a hassle for them and I especially don't want Luuka to be a pain in the bum to them as they already have 2 dogs (a collie (escape artist) and a toy poodle (general pain in the arse)). So Luuka has decided that it is okay to wee upstairs on the polished wood floors because no one ever corrects her up there. I live downstairs on tiles (they are blinding white tiles I literally mop twice a day and it is a huge area, wtf were they thinking!) and when I first moved in I made sure I kept her toilet training consistent and took her outside for wees on the grass (about 2m or less from each entrance (there are 4 entrances into the lower level of the house) all the time, especially in the morning and after food and after a big drink etc but just generally as often as I thought about it with lots and lots of praise when she wees outside. The result is that she has not weed inside downstairs once apart from right at the beginning (late January). So I told mum that the solution I can see is simply that Luuka is not allowed upstairs if they're not prepared to take her downstairs to wee on the grass (I said this in the nicest, most deferential way possible). They say that that's mean of them because the other dogs are upstairs and they feel mean locking her out (poor Luuka, huuuuge backyard, lovely cool tiles to lie on, lots of toys to chew lol but I do understand what mum is saying). I don't want Luuka to feel that she's being punished and often mum will put Jack and Ruby out with Luuka as well but Ruby jumps the fence (not my problem, and I don't feel right preaching to them but I still don't understand why they won't get an electric fence collar system thingy) so they don't like to do this a lot. Ruby runs up and down the street getting the other dogs barking If the kids across the road didn't call her and whistle to her so often it'd be better. Am I right to be just banning her from being upstairs unless I'm there to watch her? I would also like to get some good ideas for keeping her entertained (and not digging holes which she has just started doing!) in the yard and downstairs. I'm thinking a treat ball, frozen iceblocks with sardines in them, a kong with peanut butter etc ... any other (preferably cheap) entertainment ideas? Thanks DOL
  8. Thanks KHM! And Julie I will try not to interrupt BBQ duty for too long but bully cuddles are essential I'm afraid there's nothing to be done about it! I'll take the list of dates in the first post to my friend and see if any of those weekends suit her :p
  9. Going to try to time my Adelaide visits for wedding related stuff to coincide with one of these Would love to meet you Adelaide folks and pooches especially Pele
  10. Okay I'll try ignoring her, she goes completely mental barking until I acknowledge her (honestly I think it's just her way, she is barking excitedly not annoyingly) but I will try to make her greeting times a calmer time. Thanks!
  11. When I get home from work and sometimes when someone 'exciting' comes over or whatever Luuka has a little wee Not like a big proper wee but enough to puddle on the floor. It's not the biggest deal ever I always greet her in the front yard and make sure we are on the grass. Should I be worried or should I be trying to discourage this somehow? It hasn't always happened, it seems to be a fairly recent thing.
  12. Plus Wire Haired Foxies are just kick-ass dogs
  13. Site looks fantastic Steve! Must try to control my spending..
  14. Mmmmm I could go a shiatsu right now actually!
  15. Hi guys, just a few questions... I am going to Mackay for a Sat/Sun show (leaving after work on Friday prob) on the 13th and 14th of March. I could camp, because conztruct has offered to lend me his tent, but I will confess now and say that I hate, hate hate hate camping. I don't like sleeping in tents. I'm a huge sook. ;) My friend has offered me the use of his 4wd which is one of those dual-cab canopied Holden Rodeos. So I could put a board down in the back of that and a mattress and just suck up the discomfort and lack of space. But I'm wondering, do any motels (just generally I mean not specifically in Mackay, I'm happy to do some ringing around if anyone thinks it's worth it) let you bring toilet trained dogs with you if they're kept crated or in the bathroom or anything? Or caravan parks or something? I might be completely off base and you guys will probably just laugh at my silliness but this would be the best option for my pansy self Thanks!
  16. Luuka is an underwear lover too, especially my lacy ones
  17. It is approximately 67million times better than the last one that's for sure. More info areas would be better, for example "Interested in showing? Here's a 'getting started' guide". To be honest though I haven't really had a thorough look around the site maybe they do have that stuff.
  18. Yep, I entered Luuka in baby puppy for 2 championship shows and 1 open show all on the same weekend in the same envelope, so I just made out 1 cheque to "mackay kennel club inc". So I'm sure if you were entering her in baby puppy and sweepstakes you can put the amount on one cheque but you just need separate forms which you already said you're doing. Other showies feel free to correct me but that's what I was told by lovely ellz (that and many, many other things!).
  19. I can answer the first bit because I asked that too! As long as both cheques are made out to the same person / club then it's fine (especially as they're for the same show). Sorry I can't help with the second bit but I am watching with interest.
  20. She was licking herself quite abit down there, that could be what it was, no more blood at all though so I think I'm safe ;)
  21. No and yes. Catalogues rarely have times in them. Not sure what other stuff you mean. Generally the catalogue is a listing of dogs entered divided by group, breed and class. Also includes dogs entered in the sweepstakes. EG. Group 4 Hounds Afghan Hounds. Class 1 Baby Puppy Dog. 123 B Paintain Tianze Warlock 14/10/2009 81000234 Gr Ch Tianze Power of Magik x Ch Quidam Cirque of Jhanzi (Imp NZ) Class 2 Minor Puppy Dog 124 j Bloggs bloggsaffies blogger 26/2/2009 12345678 sires name x dams name. and so on for the rest of the breed and group. (me neither ;) ) That's awesome thanks heaps! Ahh okay. That all makes sense. Wow. There's so much to learn! I have a feeling I'm going to annoy the living sh*t out of the people I'm hanging around on the 6th and 7th of March here in Rockhampton But I am excited anyway, and excited to meet some more Rocky DOLers (Pointers Rule for example)
  22. Wow.. that would suck.. Also I have a question! Surprise surprise..... I phoned the show organiser person this morning and she said that sending my application last Friday by express post was fine (I did already ask another person last week but they told me to ring this person on Monday because she's doing the catalogues) so that is awesome As long as it gets there! So the 'catalogue', is that the handbook thingy that has all the times and stuff in it? And does it also have what other dogs are in your breed and group?
