In addition to the completely offensive act of not allowing this man and his guide dog into a restaurant even when a Guide Dogs Welcome sign is on the front, I would like to know who the hell cares if a damn dog is gay?! And what exact impact does that have on the restaurant?! And are these people completely subintelligent?! How do you desex a dog to make it gay?! And HOW exactly can you tell if a dog is gay if there are no other dogs around!? I am dumbfounded by this!

You replied in OT Cockerlover, sorry I know it's silly to have doubled up posts but no one replied for awhile to my OT one so I assumed I'd postedin the wrong section! My only thought is that those Bunnings compost things are like $25 a pack, that's a very very very expensive fence! -

Thanks GT! That'd be awesome! -
Woohoo yep that is pretty far out of town for sure! I am thinking of leaving pretty early on Monday morning from Brisbane so I can get back at a reasonable hour to go to the shows.

Oh my goodness that is so sad, he sounds like he was a wonderful man, that is just brutally unfair ;)

He must have been before my time. Poor man, his poor family, what a horrendous thing to happen ;) RIP and may his killers be brought to justice.

Metal fence panels? -
So I've been half-heartedly looking for somewhere for Luuka and I to live, I say half-heartedly because living with my mums is pretty cool, lots of space for both of us, and lots of the sharehouses have been dodgy. So I had a really awesome chat with my dad tonight about moving in with him. He's such a great guy and we get along really well these days. He is also happy to let me just live my own little life and we don't get in each others face anymore at all. Plus we both like good food and wine :D And he loves dogs but knows he doesn't have time for one of his own when he lives alone. So, he lives on an acre block in a suburban area but none of it is fenced. I want to look into fencing off a grassed area at the back of his place which is in the middle of the block (therefore far away from the road). If I had to estimate right now, I'd put it at about 30m x 20m, partly shaded, then we'd fence off a path that leads into the garage so Luuka can get in and out of the nice cool cement area and out to run around on the grass and play. Has anyone got any temporary or at least semi-easy to remove fencing ideas? I could just do star pickets and chickenwire I suppose but other ideas would be really appreciated

Me too. This. Well said on all counts.

First show for Luuka and I on Saturday I'm pretty nervous and Luuka's struggling with 'stand', she thinks her bum belongs to the ground I think!
-
Sam you should come to the Caves show and say hi! Must be close to where you are surely? Fran, I won't be there and I am not sure if Sandy and Co will be either as they are currently in Sydney for the Dally nationals. Rob (my OH) will be though. Yep I'm going with Sandra P, I phoned her last week and asked if she would babysit me Also the lady who's grooming Luuka shows her poodles so she said she'd give me some pointers- er, tips - too. I am frantically working on "stand" but Luuka is determined that her bum belongs on the ground

I wish I was going, 5 shows in one weekend would have been fantastic show training for me :D But I will be in Bris picking up my new car unfortunately ;) I am going to the Caves Show this Saturday, may need to scrounge a couple of square cms in someone's gazebo :D I have the most gorgeous, soft, light crate now courtesy of conztruct and Luuka is getting all spiffied-up by Margaret in Gracemere on Thursday so I am really really really excited ;)

Same, Comfortis got rid of the fleas on Atlas and in the house/garden too. It's good stuff, I've never seen a flea on Luuka and I do try to check very thoroughly.
-
Oh cool thanks for that, yeah I checked her diet with the vet and the vet says it's perfect.

Bit of an update for those interested Was quite a strange vet visit, the vet had never heard of dogs vomiting when hungry before She said it was really puzzling and couldn't explain why she'd be doing it 4-5 times a week. I did tell her that since I'd been giving Luuka a handful of bikkies before bedtime (10pm or so) she hadn't been vomiting and she couldn't explain that either ......... iiiinteresting. Anyway, she said that clinically she's perfect and that there were no oesophageal or intestinal issues that she could feel on palpation. I just have to keep an eye on the issue for awhile.

I only said "my breeder" because if it wasn't for her I'd have no clue how to pronounce it either so don't worry Esky I feel like when I say it I almost "drop" the 'h' a little bit. My ex used to call Luuka a "lappin' dog" and suggested we take her "lappin'" as that was clearly her natural habitat Sorry that's a bit Bottom line though Esky, lappies rule. Luuka's cleverness and ability to pick up new things blows my mind constantly. And her pigginess. She would eat until she passed out I reckon!
-
Haha, slappies and flappies, I love it!

Mmmm yes but a very short "oo", not drawn out; "hoond" but very short. Lol. Sorry. Haha I know! It all happened faster than I ever imagined ;)
