OMG. What a courageous thing for her to do. I hope she pulls through. What a devstating and incomprehensible tragedy. no words, so sad that so many dogs died when she risked her own life to rescue them.

How tragic. My thoughts go to Jed and her family. RIP to the dogs lives that were lost. Stick in there Jed, healing vibes your way. I will make a donation tomorrow I wish I could do more. If any fundraising is being organized I would be more than happy to volunteer to help!

I have heard alot of people say that two Males do not get along as well as two females of one male and one female. Jet has only been around other females and I have had no problems.

I have a ford focus sedan. The dogs are only small and are usually sitting on the back seat. Jet is usually harnessed. If I don't have more then 3 people in the car with the dogs it suits fine. I can fit Jet's crate over two back seats nicely too.

Jet is a very quiet dog. Only barks when there are dogs/people walking past the house or something like that otherwise he is silent. He will sometimes make a growling noise when he is playing games but it is never violent. I would think the noises she is making are not violent. You can usually tell the difference between an agressive growl & a play growl. Well I usually can anyways.

Sorry I have been absent for a while! We have been walking about 4 days a week, on the other days we either have been doing obedience or just playing in the yard or dog park. Great Improvment I think! Going to go home this afternoon & walk the furkids again. We usually take the same boring old track for a walk so I might spice it up!

Thanks Everyone. It definately is a great feeling. There was a point where I thought it would never be fixed and nearlly gave up training him but I am glad I have stuck with it and done the hard work

Agree with showdog... also do not step back just stay where you are long enough (10 seconds to start with) then treat.... then extend the time and then you can eventually start stepping back.

Can I have a brag? Some of you may know that Jet used to have fear aggression. He is my first dog so it was something I was unsure how to handle and prevent at the time. I would do anything for him so I went and saw a behaviourist here in Brisbane to get it sorted. She then recommended for me to join an obedience club to help. ..... We have just completed level one obedience at a local club! Jet got an applause for the amount of improvement he has had! I never thought it would happen, I was getting really frustrated that it seemed so unreachable to solve his issues. The first lesson at obedience he was a nightmare! He was hiding behind me the whole night, would lunge and growl/bark at any dog that would go near him and I had no focus the whole night. By the last lesson last night, I had complete focus on me pretty much the whole night and he did everything perfectly. We could even have dogs walk close by to him and his focus would not leave me!!! :D as you can tell I am really excited.

I tried the ignoring thing but they were just to excited to see me, that I couldn't. If Jessie is out the back she will bark until I go greet her or let her in! It can get frustrating to the family. Jet on theother hand does not bark which I like but will stand at the back door wagging his tail and giving me that exciting look. Once I let them inside Jet will do zoomies around me and the house and then come for cuddles and kisses... then once he is content with that he brings me a toy to play with him. :p

My 9 year old fox terrier has been doing the same! I thought it might of been her age which I hope it isn't... she refuses to go outside unless someone is out there or you carry her out so I am needing to start toilet training and stuff all over again with her I think.

I was told that you should continue walking... do not stop and sit the dog. Put the dog into a position where it can't get in front of you and have the dog in the opposite side of your body when you walk past to the side the other people/dogs are walking treat him when you are content with it. Yes it will be a long process also when you are walking if you can teach him some focus it will help.

I have had Jet for just over a year now. I have spent about $400 on kibble & bones. Since I got him as a puppy the vet bills are high as I did desexing, vaccinations and he had to get a xray at one time so about $800ish if not a bit more for that. Then if I added his training and stuff it does add to a large amount, but I love him and do all this for him, there is no price to put on his health and companionship.

Glad that it didn't get any serious. I have learnt only recently what dogs to let my boy play with. My friend has a staffy who is nearlly double the size of Jet and is double the strength. I will only let them play to a certain extent then I will get inbetween them. She has had Jet pinned to the ground at times which I am not willing to let any dog do to him.

:nahnah: My friend has an American Stafford on the Gold Coast! She looks nothing like a pit bull to start off with! I would hope they would not destroy any dog they find wondering around which are lost! The people in the article were doing the right thing and actually registering there dog!

I do not own a purebreed but I do intend too. I have been ignorant in the past but I would still rescue dogs. Jet is a cross breed yet he is a fantastic dog. People are just not educated enough in the difference between pedigree and crosses yet. I am not even fully educated myself yet.

Oh whats also good is free ice cream containers with treats in it and she will most likely spend the day licking it.

She should grow out of it. Jet isn't as bad as he used to be. But I am making sure I wear him out everyday now and he is inside more. You give her bones and kongs and stuff when she is alone hey?
