i have the same problem with my seven year old foxy and my 4 month old puppy, the seven year old gets jealous and growls and trys to bite the puppy. i like to give them space apart sometimes and give them seperate attention without the other one in the room. I also take them on walks together to a park so the seven year old is not in her "territory" and so they get used to each other in another environment.

you will just need to keep on with the housebreaking. taking him once he has been feed, after he has played, after he has slept etc. to get rid of the pee smell so the puppy is unable to smell it try usually vinegar and water in a spray bottle or bleach, or even a spray designed to cover these smells. try also using treats and a lead to encourage the puppy to peeing on the grass how old is the puppy?

that dog "expert" wasnt much of one. try using objects that are not absorbable to block the back of the crate off.

Pup should be still on 3 meals a day. You are probably feeding the right amount, if you are following the packet. Divide the amount you are feeding now into three meals. thanks for the advice.

it usually discloses the amount in grams on the side of the dog food packaging in regards to the weight of your dogs.

i have seen a few car wash places that have the dog washes there as well, bring all your own supplies, these are just meant to be more convienent.

Hi I am a bit confused on the amount and how frequently I should be feeding my puppy. I do not have scales at home so I have been guessing the amont of dry food it says to feed him on the side of the advance packaging. The puppy was 3.3kg last time we visited the vet and we have been feeding him twice a day. Ihave just been questioning the amount i have been feeding him due to him getting bigger around the stomach but i am unsure if this is him growing or him actually putting on extra weight?? Can someone please give me an appropriate amount in measuring cups maybe? Also I have been having problems with him being a guts and eating everything he finds. I have some young sisters at home and sometimes they leave there bowls/plates on the coffee table and the puppy scoffs whats left over before you can get over him to stop him. Solutions? Thank you.

Tassie, i really do love it when he is sleeping. He is such a precious thing. I feel in love at first sight. Ditto, That is my favourite picture, it shows just how tiny he really was. Thank you all for the advice yesterday and today he only made 2 mistakes, which were my fault for taking my eyes off of him for a few seconds. Its getting better!

Hi Emmi, I have recently finished puppy preschool with my 4 month old foxy x. The trainer instructed us to turn around and not face him when the puppy jumped and wait til he stops then turn around again and continue if he keeps on jumping. when he sits however give him a treat and praise him. You need to teach him that he should sit in these situations, the instructer also told us to get our visitors to do the same thing. It might take a bit of practice but eventually he should get it! I hope this helps

i know what you mean about growing up so fast! he was only 1kg when i first took him for his first vaccination and the last time i went he was 3.4kg already! the first photo below is him now, the second is when we first got him

The thing is i havent used a crate for at least a month with him, he sleeps outside with my other 7 year old foxie. He is inside in the afternoon and night before bed. the method i am using is just yelling at him and saying no, and i know he understands that he does something wrong coz his tail hangs between his legs and then i put him outside. Please don't yell at your puppy - he's a baby - and no, he doesn't know he's done something wrong - he just knows that you're yelling at him and he's scared - no wonder he puts his tail between his legs. All this is likely to do is to make him fearful of you, and probably more likely to pee. Unless you catch him in the act, just clean up with vinegar or a specific enzymatic cleaner, and think to yourself what you were doing that you weren't watching him. I really like the idea of having a light long line connecting you and the puppy while he's inside - that way, you'll be remembering to watch him for signs he's going to pee, and you'll remember to take him outside after he's been eating, or playing for a while, or sleeping. If you do catch him in the act, just a quiet 'No' or "Uh-uh" as you pick him up and quietly take him outside - then wait and watch and praise him when he pees in the right place. As far as the biting etc. goes - you're right - it will be worse while he's teething. Again, a quiet "Uh-uh" and give him a chew toy and encourage him to chew and then tell him what a good pup he is. So he keeps getting the message that you know he has to chew, but chewing on you is not OK. So it's good if you've got chew toys close by wherever you are in the house. ok thank you for the advice, i did not know me yelling at him would do that. I will see how it goes! thanks again

he is a little bugger! he's very smart! i will give this a go thanks. The old girl is really grumpy, its ok at the moment coz she sits on the couch and the puppies not big enough to get up there but no doubt very soon he will be able too. should i be investing in a pen or something to keep them seperate when they are outside?

What are you using to clean the pee? I used Urine Off when toilet training my dogs. Worked really well. i have been just using a general disinfectant, so should i be looking for one specially for dogs? and i will start getting him back into his training. He is still very young, so just keep at it. Unfortunately many disinfectants have amonia in them, which replicates some of the wee smell, so it can be counterproductive. Specialised spot cleaner for urine, or water and vinegar as previously mentioned. ok thanks!

The puppy has already finished his puppy preschool, i do not take them on daily walks but i do as much as i can to take them a few times a week. I am going to start doing it daily though and see how i go. Thanks

Having problems with my nearlly 4 month old fox terrier x 'Jet' when he is around my 7 year old pure breed fox terrier 'Jessie'. When Jet is playing with Jessie he bits and jumps which i know is typical for a puppy just playing. However Jessie does not like it one bit and growls and tries to bite Jet. Then they start barking and i can't seem to get the puppy away from Jessie even if i try to play with him instead. Is there something i can do to make the puppy learn that Jessie does not like it? She is old and just sleeps alot of the time and feels very protective and territoral since the puppy has arrived. ;)

I believe if the smell of pee is still there he will go back there and wee again. Is he peeing in the same spots? Because he is small, I would take him out frequently to wee and praise him a lot when he does pee outside. Yes he is in a habit of going in the same area, yet i do clean this up, is there a good product of some sort that might be better than the one i am using? he spends most of the day outside with our other dog but when he comes inside he still makes a mistake. i am trying to be consitant telling him no and sending him outside. Thank you all for the advice.

Hi, I have a 3 month old puppy who I have taken to puppy preschool and have gotten him mostly under control. He is a great and well behaved puppy. However, he still is peeing inside. He is mostly good but still slips up on this. What else can I do to help him with this? Also he is in the process of teething and even if he has some chew toys there he continues to try and bit my hands and fingers, and recommendations? Thank you all in advance for the help!
