Have you done Puppy preschool yet or do you intend to? I recommend this to teach the basic obeidence for him eg, sit, recall etc I was taught to use treats and call him in a hppy voice and if he jumps just turn around and ignore him for a few seconds then try again and if he sits then he gets a treat. This will teach him that sittingwhen he is called etc is what he has to do.

Hi, I have been feeding my puppy dry dog feed every since I have gotten him, he is now 17 weeks old. I have been having a look on Dol and have noticed alot of people have been doing there own receipes and premade receipes of meats, veggies and eggs. I would just like to know the appropriate diet I should be feeding him on. He is a fox terrier cross. THANKS

every puppy is different so if you would like to do the crate trainingthe pup could succeed or not. its worth a shot though.

My pup has recently finished getting vaccinated. He had three visits to the Vet all up for vaccinations. One to start off with, two the next time and his final C5 vaccine was two needles. Then he is ok for a year.

my pup loves pig ear, deer ears. anything like that. I also have biscuit treats that help out his teeth.

I agree with the puppy having a pen. Instead of newpaper you could also use puppy pads which you can get from pet shops. these are scented. These were great with my puppy when i had him in the laundry. Also the basic rules of takinghim outside after he eats, sleeps or plays.

I had him lying in my lap the last time and he still did it. but we do go off the highway and through a few curvy roads. The next trip i will try the highway and see how it goes and try ways where there are longer and straighter roads. I will not use the car harness either and see what happens. Thank you all.

Maybe try the obeidence part with food to teach him not to do these things? Like if you are laying down and he comes at you tell him to sit and reward him? just a thought.

This is very strange. Is this before he has eaten breakfast?

ok great thanks for the advice. I will try and see what works best for him. I dont want to use any medications or anything really unless I have too. Thanks again.

I really hope he doesnt take that long to grow out of it. Did you take him out much while he had the car sickness??
-
Thank you for all of the advice. Hopefully he will grow out of it as he is only 4 months old. Shel72, I will try the no feeding before travel first and see how he goes. When I had him in the car yesterday on my lap he tried to put his head out of the window so I am glad it makes him feel a bit better. I was using a car harness for when he was in the car but I think I would prefer to have someone in the car with me holding him just in case he is sick again. Every time he has been in the car he has usually been in there for 20 minutes minimum, so I will see what I can do to make the drives better for him. I have a new car so hopefully it wont happen again.

Hi, I have come to the conclusion that my puppy has been getting car sickness. He has been sick three times now. The first two times it was on the way home from the vet so I orginally thought that him getting his needles were making him sick. However, this morning my partner and I took him to my partner's parents place to play with there dog and he was sick in the car. This is a half an hour drive and to the vet it is an 20 minute drive. Is there anything out there which can fix car sickness for dogs?? Thanks

Hi Ash, I have a 16 week old puppy. When I first brought him home at 8 weeks I had him in the laundry while i was at work and i was using a crate to start off with and instead of news paper i was using Puppy Pads from the pet shop but i beleive newpaper works just as well. I woke up during the night whenever he started to whinge which would usually be when he needed to do his business. The crate i found not as great as people make it out to be, but that was my experience. He ended up just sleeping on anything soft eg a blanket. I have had experience with this definately he has been a little bugger and pulled a few pieces of clothing off the line and ruined a few things, so it is a good idea to make sure the washing is dangling low enough for him to grab. Also i have had the experience of my puppy chewing so far 3 power cords off things so definately puppy proof the backyard! I hope this helps.

i think it is fine to worm him tomorrow. i just did some reseach on the below link. every fortnight until he is 3 months then every month until he is 6 months then its every 3 months. http://www.drkatrina.com/archiesdiary/8-12...gyourpuppy.aspx

when i first got my pup and took him to the vet they said they need to be wormed every 2 weeks and then after 12 weeks every month until 6 months of age or something. i could be wrong about that last part. i am taking him back this friday so if i get more information i will let u know.

LOL if his poo isn't runny i am not sure what that would be.

so gorgeous. i love the jumper! :D

My pup is 16 weeks as well and I can say pepper definitely doesn't work, Winston licks it up!! Then gives me a foul look when he sneezes from it :D My yard is covered in pepper at the moment, due to all the little holes everywhere lol. Perhaps vinegar will work.... I've also heard lemon juice in a spray bottle??? i have heard vinegar in the bottle works to so i will try both thanks.

i am up on the gold coast however i have been told not to do puppy preschool through a vet. i did my puppy preschool through VIP pet foods. Maybe have a look if there is one of them in your area. they were excellent.

Thank you all. i will try all of your suggestions and see what works best for him. my partner play with the puppy but not as much as i do. thats why when i was away last week, i think he was alot more bored. I am trying to start a routine of me either walking him or doing a bit of obedience practice before work.

Hi Everyone. My 16 week old puppy is teething at the moment and I was recently away for a week up in Cairns and left him with my partner. I think he might of gotten a bit bored without me there and chewed the plug and cords off the stereo, bar fridge and the bug zapper outside. Can I please have some suggestions on what to do? eg. toys that would help him not get so bored during the day when I am at work? And things that will help the teething process for him? Also he has dug numerous holes in the back yard. Why does he do this? And what can I do to stop this from happening?? Thank you.

i have a 4 month old border collie x foxy and he is the exact same. he has already ran into the wall! they are very energetic dogs. i have realised that they like to tug on things. so maybe a rope or toy tied to something stable that wont move might be a solution? or even maybe cutting him off into a certain area so he cant move out of that area?
