My pup has a bit of BC in him we think. Btw your pup is adorable. I feed him purina pro plan. I also heard of a trick to keep there coats clean and shiney by putting oil in there food. this can be any real sort of oil you use in cooking.

on other dogs oh my I hope he doesnt start doing that :p :p She doesn't do it often because I can usually read her mind, but from her it is definitely a "screw you" type gesture to the other dog! I can always tell when Jet is thinking of cocking his leg on something. Unfortuantly I can't supervise him 24/7

on other dogs oh my I hope he doesnt start doing that :p eww :p Does desexing a pup stop them from cocking there leg as much? Jet hasn't been desexed yet but will be.

So strange. Maybe he wants to show her he's boss!

:p thats true. we have another dog and they both have the same looking bowl each. So we are going to make sure we mark his bowl as his, after I clean it! ;)

Jet has started to pee in his food bowl :p Can anyone tell me why he is doing this? I am going to lift it up from the ground when he is not being feed from now on. He seems to lift his leg on everything!

Is it a boy or girl? I have a male and was thinking about getting one of those sticks you put in the grass that has a scent to lead them to do there business there. I am having him cock his leg on the patio too!

Hmm I might be better off just leaving it then. I will check the back of the Joint Guard this arvo and let you know about that. Cannot remember the price sorry. I don't have Jet on it anymore. But I did and I was thinking of putting him back on it.

Puppy Schools In Brisbane's South
Jetty replied to Wullie's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Hi, Welcome I am not quiet sure how far south you are thinking? I live in the Logan Area. I have been doing obedience with my boy Jet at Jimboomba. At a place called Good Dog Bad Dog, There number is (07) 5548 7988. I am very happy with them. I did puppy preschool at VIP Pet foods in Yatala as well, they weren't to bad either. -
My vet putted Jet on joint supplements. He had a legiment injury. Anyways he reccommended Joint guard and we haven't had a problem with it. jet was only young. It would of been a few months back now.

Puppy Obedience Classes In Gold Coast?
Jetty replied to MsBex's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
If you are closer to the north side of the gold coast, I took Jet to puppy preschool at yatala's vip pet foods. They were good. -
Jet has his crate in our bedroom. He likes to be in the same room. But loves his crate. He knows its bed. I even try to let him sleep on my bed sometimes but he leaves to go to his crate! It doesn't bother me as long as he's happy.

I have been so proud of Jet's progress with our obedience. We are only up to the third lesson and he is already up to a standard that is amazingly so much better than what he was at. His behaviour issues have completely disappeared. There are however a couple of things I would like advice on to assist me with improving a few things at home. Firstly, I took him for a walk down our long road yesterday. Nearlly every house has outside dogs. He used to go nuts and it would be a mission to get him to keep on walking with me. Now apart from once or twice where he barked and paid some attention towards a dog, which I will correct him. He will ignore and continue to walk with me The only thing he is doing is not loose lead walking. He seems to pull a bit until towards the end where he gets worn out. I have tried to fix this with teaching him to heel and whenever he pulls to walk in the other direction. I am just wondering is there another method or is there something I am not doing correctly? I am using a check chain if that makes any difference. Secondly, We live on acerage and next door's dogs seem to run up and down the side fence. This usually occurs in the early mornings and late afternoon/night. They have what I assume are barking collars on so they don't bark. Jet seems to get a bit worked up and will run up and down the fence barking non-stop. I have been using the "out" command and have been also using "come". It seems to work sometimes but not all the time. Is there something else I can do to make him stop and when I go outside to not continue. Should I try to distract him with toys or food, However these won't work for the whole time?

Jet loves fetch. He doesn't play tug, only fetch. He brings the ball back to me and when I say drop he lays down with the ball. It sort of came naturally the getting the ball bit. But then I just praised him whenever he brang the ball near me and he started to lay down with the ball near me and I started to use the word "drop" as he was doing this. However not all dogs like to play it.

I tried the method of continuing to walk when he shows any signs of excitment etc towards the dogs down our road. The only time he actually showed attention was the once, but when I pulled and continued to walk he ignored the dog! Worked well considering we passed 4 dogs. I am also using a check chain if that makes a difference?

It can be quiet embarrassing when they act this way, doesn't it. Jet has the same problem. Him now being 8 months old, I agree that age is one issue. I have been taking him to obedience and they have been having me train him on a long leash using the "come" comand when he is distracted. He also gets excited but then excitment seems to turn into barking and growling. The command we have been using is either the "come" or "out" command. I have also tried using food and toys as a distraction away from the other dogs. Eventually he will stop it but it is a mission to get his attention. I will be trying that advise with continuing to walk when he shows that behaviour this afternoon. I will see how it works out and let you know NAO.

Help...he Won't Come When I Call Him
Jetty replied to vellela's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
This is actually helping me alot to. I have a pup who won't come when I call him. Yesterday afternoon he was at next doors fence barking at there dogs. I had to chase him back home! I feel your pain. It can be so stressful! -
Thanks, I also found out his is going through his fear stage. So I will try to keep him away from that situation for a while.

No all dogs were on leads. Yes the other dogs were walking past while Jet was stationary. However I did take him for a stroll and he still reacted the same way as we were walking past other dogs. Yes I did, But that had been resolved. We have been there now a few more times and he is well behaved. He was only barking at some dogs not at all that time. I will be seeking professional advice on sat.

Lately he has been getting socialised weekly, we also have another dog at home too. Every time he has been off lead with other dogs, he has been friendly. I have taken him to the beach every weekend for the past month. He has been off lead and never been in this situation. We started our second time of training on saturday. Which I only just got to learn and teach him the look at me command so we are still learning. His response to dogs there were really good. He would practically ignore him. However when we first arrived he was barking a bit but I think he eventually go comfortable with the other dogs. Thanks

Jet did this when he was younger before he got the gist of walking. I got told if you have a chain lead, it can stop them from biting as they dont like it on there teeth?

I am having a problem with my pup, Jet. He is usually well natured and is not so aggressive. Yesterday we took him with us for a BBQ by the water. There are a lot of dogs there and every time Jet would see one walk past he would start barking and growling. I tried everything. Pulled him back and said a firm NO. Tried to make him stop with when he was calm and quiet with a treat. Does anyone have an idea of why he was behaving this way? It ruined the day. What can I do to make him stop? Thank you

I give Jet who is 8 months only a small treat in the morning which is usually one or two chicken necks then his main meal at night. Thats all he needs.
