Thank you for all the camera and shooting information, I first tried a cannon on trial then a Pantax. A friend had a Sony at the time and talked me into going down that path which I regret now. I now have a Sony A850 full frame camera with a Carl Zeiss 24-70 lens and I am never really happy with the shots I take. It doesn't have all the different modes and even thou I have done a few courses I am never quite sure what settings to put it on. eg Aperture or S,P . Its true an expensive camera doesn't make a great photographer.

Just stunning, your photos have made my day especially the very first photo of the koala and the komoda dragons. I have a real fascination for komodo dragons. I had lots of camera questions but they seem to have already been asked, especially do you shoot in raw and do you alter the photos? I have a very expensive camera and lens but never get shots anywhere near as good as these,

I have a hydro bath on my back verandah and got sick of waiting for the heater to heat the water so we put a hot water tap outside. The wall wasn't far from my ensuite so he just rand a pipe along the wall and added a new hot and cold water outlet. I think from memory it cost about $400 but with five dogs I do lots of grooming so it has been so worth it.

Can I just say the waterproof backiing might be a bit hot for these big guys in our climate

Storm I have a two year old Newfoundland and I would not feed super coat nor would I feed puppy food. Eagle pack as suggested is a great food so Giant breed adult or proplan adult. They are not cheap but you need to feed a quality product. High dose Easter C has been used to correct leg issues and chicken necks and frames (raw) are good to help put weight on. Feed at least twice a day or more small meals if possible. Bloat is an issue with the breed so wait at least an hour before and after feeding before any form of exercise. If you go to dogzonline breeders look up Planhaven or Opalbay, Opalbay is in Brisbane and Planhaven are now on the Gold Coast. Frances from Planhaven has been the longest breeder of this breed in Australia and Sue from Oplaybay has been involved in the breed for over ten years. I am sure both of them would be only to happy to talk to you and offer advice where needed. Good luck with your girl, they are a beautiful breed to share our lives with. :D

Anyone Using The Anivac Cleaning System?

Thank you for your suggestion, I bath the Newfoundland first, then the poodles and last the Jack Russell. I blow dry him first because he is quick then the toy poodle, two standards then the Newf. I do have one of those fans so will give that a go, I also put what is called a Towel Tog on the Newf and it dries him off quite a bit. I never bath then dry individually it would take me way to long. I did forget I brought the towel tog so have only just started using it, it has cut his drying time in half. -

I have five so three would be a breeze  Maybe the breeder would let you have her on a trail basis first. That way you can see if she fits in with your other dogs and guage how much extra work it would be.

I have four dogs and a cat on pro plan and they also get chicken/ wings, necks and sardines and no problems here

Anyone Using The Anivac Cleaning System?
mish13 replied to mish13's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I already have a hydrobath with plumbed hot water beside it, its pretty old now so was looking at what to buy next. I show the Newfoundland so when we are showing he gets bathed every week. All the other dogs get done once every two weeks. The one in my link is reduced quite a bit and they say it was made for Newfoundlands. I thought someone would be using it but I guess price does make it out of most peoples reach. -

Thank you, I think it sounds like a Hydro bath is still the best way to go -

50 views not one reply, I guess that means no one uses this system ??? -
I have been reading up and watching videos on using the Anivac system to bath your dog, I was just wondering how does this compare to using a hydrobath? I have five dogs of different sizes and various coat types so was not sure if this would be any good. This is the one I was looking at which it says was made with a Newfoundand in mind. My main interest is how well does it clean and the time factor, it currently takes me 8 hours to groom all my dogs and this is done every fortnight. Its the drying time that takes me the longest and I use an Oldfield dryer. http://horseandhound.net.au/shop/anivac-proheat-bathing-system-ex-demo-systems/

We also have a Kia, heaps of room and it has dual fuel so cheap to run. Great dog show car IMO. I would love the dual fuel, I use mind every day for work so its not cheap on petrol. I guess thats the pice you pay for having a lot of power under the bonnet. Where is your tank located?
-
I have a Kia grand carnival and love it, it has eight seats if I need to take all my family out then I can drop the back seat into the floor and have a huge area. I can fit a crate big enough for my Newfoundland plus it has dual air-conditioning which he needs. The middle row of seats can be removed individually, so if I am sleeping at a show I take them all out ( takes two minutes). Heaps of room to cart my gear then I can fit an air bed in the back for me to sleep in. I fit the crate plus a huge show cage that I slide on top plus two gazebos, fridge, generator, grooming table, chair, mats and all my grooming gear no worries. Not sure if its in your price range thou

I am divided on this, I don't mind a small amount of creative grooming but I think this is going to far. These dogs would have had to spend hours standing still on a table while this was done. I noticed one with a huge coat was panting a lot. Oscar my standard poodle loves nothing more then being on the grooming table, but I am sure even he would have a cut off time when he had had enough.

If you look here you will see the designated camping area and camping policy. They also only have one shower so get in early http://www.cccq.org.au/Durack-Info.aspx

If this is Alsonville show ground you have really good toilets and showers when you first drive in plus some more toilets further in. If its raining be well prepared for RED MUD, take gum boots and garbage bags to throw gear in when it gets muddy. If it doesn't rain then its fine. Last year it poured and everything I had was coated in red mud. Lucky I have a black dog but felt sorry for the people with white dogs. We even showed in gum boots and gave a pair to one of the judges It can also be a bit of a walk carting gear to the ring so take a trolly for the crates if you use them. Its not easy to get power so get in early, some people set up days before especially the ones that camp in the big shed.
