  1. You could also try http://www.madmutt.com.au/dogcollars_home.htm if you don't find what you want on the other web sites, they make up to giant sizes.
  2. This place looks fantastic but did I read correct they charge $16 per dog? If yes is this for food or can you bring your own and not pay the $16. I have four dogs so it would be cheaper to not bring them if I had to pay $16 each The $16 does not include food. It's kind of like paying for the right to let your filthy, wet dog go and sleep on the bed with you. They get quite dirty running around on the farm and swimming in the river, so I guess it's to cover the extra cleaning. The rooms are pretty small. I wouldn't want to try to cram 4 dogs in. Not sure about the cabins as we've never stayed there. Thanks for clearing that up, we normally have someone stay at our house because it is hard to take four away with us.

  4. That answers my question as to why you don't have a doggy door so they can come inside when you are not home. What sort of camera did you buy? This is a great photo
  5. My only problem is the auto focus doesn't seem to work properly but its most likely the operator. ;) Also I take a lot of photos that are too dark again its most likely me. I would so love to wake up one day and just be an awesome photographer, I get confused about what lens to use and what Aperture setting I should be on. On a couple of photo web sites I go on they talk pretty highly about the A700.
  6. I was and am also a beginner and started with the Sony A350. I have since upgraded that to the Sony A700. I have done two short tafe courses and a one day work shop so have just touched on the tip of the ice burg. Unlike your experience my teacher had a Sony camera so I didn't get to bagged out about having a Sony. Most people in the class did have Canon so I was out numbered apart from the teacher. I was told Canon have image stabliser in the lenses and Sony has it in the body so the lenses are cheaper with the Sony. I have a Carl Zeiss lens as my main lens and am happy with the majority of photos I take. People always seem to stay clear of Sony and rely mainly on Canon and nikon but I am happy with my Sony. My camera is only used to take photos of my animals, grand kids and car shows. A $5000 budget is a great place to start, good luck in your search.
  7. Sorry only just saw your question, yes Ella is from a breeder and has papers as a pet only.
  8. The bridge was the one for me and a close second the stair shot, great job
  9. A while back someone put up a link to a place that you could buy fancy straps fro you DSLR camera, I cant find the post. Does anyone know where it is located? It would be much appreciated.

    Dog Attack

Who would leave a six month old baby on the floor unattended with two pit bulls or any dog for that mater
  12. I live in the same suburb as the owners of Tango do and in the six years of living here and walking four dogs everyday I have never seen a dog catcher. But I believe that Tango was picked up out on the street, please correct me if I am wrong. They obviously love the dog to spend the money they have but I don't think I would let any of my dogs spend five years in a boarding kennel. Its only a short move for them to have moved into NSW where Tango could have spent the last five years in there home not in a concrete pen.
  13. Yes Ella is very small some people think she is a mini, she was brought as a pet so its never bothered me.
  14. They are the only ones I have seen that have standards, I don't personally know anything about them or there dogs. There is another person that breeds mini's near Brisbane. Ok I just measured my two and my female is 21.5 inches tall and my male is 28 inches tall, she can nearly walk under him.
  15. I am not sure if you can mention breeders on here but StuartLea in Victoria have party standards, check out his web site.
  16. Wouldn't you think they would try and relocate the animals to another facility somewhere in the world where they would be taken care of. To let them just starve to death is unthinkable.
  17. I went to Teds camera house to buy my first DSLR and the reason I chose them is because they let me take the camera home and try it. So I took three different cameras home for two weeks each and got to play with them. I ended up with the Sony A350 and loved it but after a year I just wanted to jump to a slightly higher level. So I sold my A350 on ebay with one lens and I brought the Sony A700 from Hong Kong. It ended up costing me about $300 to get the new camera which fitted all the extra lens that I accumulated over the 12 months. I have picked up some good lens on EBay and now pretty much have all my needs covered. Good luck in your search and as a few others have said go and play around with a few different brands and see what suits you.
  18. That situation is so unfair to all parties and shame on Guide Dogs Vic. My next door neighbor has had two guide dog puppies from guide dogs QLD , the first one has gone on to be an assistance dog. The second one failed so my neighbors have chosen to keep her. I would imagine that could happen to a lot of the younger ones that fail, so if you are not the puppy minder you would be down the list. I dont know anything about the retired dogs.
  19. Fantastic photos, that second last one is brilliant
  20. I am speechless, god help her puppies if they are still alive
  21. We have been going through the same thing with our Jack Russell, he was on dog roll and dry food plus bones. He now gets half a cup of biscuits grated carrot and pumpkin. I also put a tiny bit of cooked chicken on top for flavour. He has lost weight, not sure how much but his waist goes in now instead of out. He is also happy to walk now and doesnt stop me every few steps. Good luck
  22. Years ago I used to put vaseline on my shepherds ears to stop the flys.
  23. Yes, it was when we took our four dogs to an area beside Sea World for a runaround one morning around 6am. It turned out that oval is a helicopter landing area and one was coming in to land while our dogs were of lead. We managed to get three dogs in the car but Ella my standard poodle was running straight for the blade on the back of the chopper. She couldn't hear me screaming, I have never screamed so hard or loud in my life. All I could think of was her getting chopped up in the blade. She got within what seemed like about 20 feet away and then turned and came back to me, she doesn't know how close she came to a horrible death that day.
