Beautiful photos, they look like were having a great time together

Its interesting reading this thread and I usually hide under the carpet on this topic as it is usually meet with lots of criticism. I would never even thought of debarking except one of my dogs breeders has had quite a few of her dogs done. They were all fine just sounded like they had a cold. I have four dogs and three are debarked, and this is the ONLY reason I still have four dogs with the council and all my neighbors blessings. My dogs bark all they want and don't upset anyone, if they had not been done I would have had to re home or PTS some of them. Oscar is not a barker so he has not been done. I had a great vet perform the operation and my husband and I just went away for a few hours then went back and picked them all up. I am sure they were sore for a little while but it was the last choice I had. My dogs get walked everyday and they live inside but they still love to bark at all the native birds and any other dog that barks in our area. (now it doesn't mater) The only problem I have is Coco my toy poodle has NO sound at all, so I am always conscious of where she is when I take her out. If she is off lead I watch her all the time, I have a fear she will fall down a hole or something similar and I wont be able to find her.

Its a pity we cant name and shame the owners so we could try and prevent them from buying another dog. I couldn't imagine giving up my dogs in there old age, some people do not have a heart.

Look at Spottychicks post it shows him with his new owner

What a way to start the day, crying my eyes out. My question is why was he just left to suffer in the kennel, don't they have vets that could have been treating him? The photo of him with his new owners is amazing to see how far he has come, I wish him the best life ever for all the years he has left.

I just placed an order for over $200 with Vet N pet direct so I hope they are OK. They were so much cheaper then the pet shop for Advantage around $20 a box so that's a huge saving for me, I buy four different ones.

Ella my standard poodle used to come sailing out to sea when she was younger. I put a harness on her and then a line that I attached to the boat. She was funny when the boat healed over she would shove her butt against the bulk head to stabilise herself. When I have four on board I would not take them off until they went to the toilet, that way they know its ok to toilet on deck. Sometimes you just cant get off so they have to go on board. You can get some artificial grass and put it up the bow so they know that's where they need to go. I take my four down below as soon as it gets dark and they stay down until the sun is up. I never left them on deck when it was dark, and I also made sure they had shelter when it was hot on deck during the day. We have friends that have traveled extensively with there dog and I know of one funny occasion. She was up the bow of the boat watching some dolphins when she fell over board. They were lucky their dingy was on davits so it didn't take long to put it into the water and go and rescue her. Hence the reason for putting a life jacket and a harness on so this doesn't happen. You will most likely not be able to go into a number of marinas with the dog, but if you were not planning on doing that its not a problem.

Can I say bl**dy hell I have never seen a dog do that before, wouldn't it be bad for his back?

I can relate to this thread, I walk my four dogs most days on my own, and I have had many people look at me like I am missing some marbles. I am sure having multiple dogs must = crazy

Fantastic photos, I have a macro lens you have inspired me to get it out and take some shots thankyou

I am like you, I walk 4 dogs by myself so they have to stay beside me at all times. My pack was also out of control so I have tried to follow Cesar's rule that says I am the pack leader and they cant pass me. I walk the two big ones on one lead on my left and the two little dogs together on my right. I only have to manage two leads and have also managed to run occasionally and they will all stay in that position. It has helped me heaps to work my way back up to the top of the ladder

My 7 year old male Standard poodle, Oscar is petrified of thunder storms and is getting worse as he gets older. He starts shaking and panting long before we know the storm is coming. I have drugged him a couple of times but don't really like doing that to him. He has always had problems with his ears so I thought that may be part of the reason why. He likes to be in my walk in wardrobe hiding under all the cloths. I have been told to buy a DVD that plays storm sounds and play it so he gets used to the sounds, I haven't tried this yet but will when I can find the DVD. My friends give me a hard time because I wont cuddle him, I keep telling them that will make him worse. Glad to see others think the same.

My fingers are crossed for you that its just an ear infection that can be treated. Are you double dosing your dog with Frontline & Advocate flea treatments? I would be asking the vet about that, I would be worried I was hurting my dog.

I can only speak about Sony because that is what I brought, I started with the A350 and have now upgraded to the A700. I am very happy with my camera but if I had my time again I would go with Canon or Nikon just due to the lens choice. Once yu start with one brand its very expensive if you want to change to a different one. I was just looking at some photos a friend of mine took with his D90 and they were incredible and the colour was way better then mine. I went to Teds camera house when I brought mine and they let me take home three cameras for a week each to try out. If you cant do that go and handle different ones in a store so you can see what feels right for you. Good luck
