  1. A friend of mine had the most beautiful golden for ten years then one day out of the blue did just what this one did. He attacked both my friends parents and did quite a bit of damage to their arms and hands. They believed the dog had a brain hemorrhage but never really found out as the dog was put to sleep that day. Very sad to all those involved
  2. Looks like Eddie has landed himself in doggie heaven, what a cutie
  3. Brilliant photos and looks like you were all having lots of fun
  4. I already have two standard poodles a toy poodle and a Jack Russell, if I could I would love to own a Newfoundland
  5. I couldn't agree more that photo should be blown up and put on a wall, it is priceless.
  6. This might help answer some questions http://www.police.qld.gov.au/aboutUs/facilities/dogSquad/
  7. Yes I think more like September so you have a while to wait http://www.goldcoastpetexpo.com.au/
  8. Thats funny you should say that I would have avoided both of those kennels, Labrador especially. I put my dogs in there once and had to take them all to the vet as soon as I picked them. They were all sick with kennel cough
  9. We have four dogs two large and two small, normally we have a house sitter but last year I had to board them. They are all aged between 7 and 9, I requested that they all go in a big pen together. Normally the small ones would go to another section. I asked that our Jack Russell be feed on his own and I also took some of my own food so no upset tummies. I shouldn't have worried because the dogs were all fine when we went back a week later to pick them up. I am sure if you find a good boarding kennel and tell them about your concerns they will do what ever it takes to make your dogs comfortable.
  10. I have four dogs and highly recommend Alida's http://www.alidas.com.au/ I am not sure what end of the coast you are but I have a vet nurse that stays at our house and she is pretty cheap. I have used Alida's when I cant get my pet sitter. There are a couple that I wouldn't go near and am happy to give you the names via PM.
  11. Amazing web site, I spent Sunday at Westlake feeding the troops and got to go into a number of the riverfront homes. It was heart breaking to see the damage and the possessions just thrown onto the streets.
  12. My OH was helping me walk our four dogs just before Xmas, which he doesn't normally do so on this day I was glad he was with me. A male Dalmation came running down the road and started trying to jump all around my dogs. One of my males hates other dogs so he was trying to attack while one of my others dogs was trying to get out of her halti. It didn't take long to realise the dog was just trying to be friendly but wasn't going to leave us alone. So we decided to head for home with the dog joining us, OH had to try and keep it of the road because it nearly got run over. We didn't have a spare lead. By the time we got home my male had settled down and even let him come inside and eat his food. It was the weekend so we waited three hours until the animal welfare league opened, I called them and gave them the tag number. They took my details and they rang the owner who rang me back straight away. Ten minutes later she was reunited with her dog, it turned out he didn't live far from me and had escaped in the storm the night before. They live on acreage and had just spent thousands on fencing to keep him in. It was a happy ending for Spot, I hope someone would do the same for me. This was the second time we had rescued a dog but the ending to this tale still haunts me.When the owner came to get there dog the dog cowered down behind my husband. I didn't see that because I was out the front talking to the other owner, if I did I might have been reluctant to give them back the dog. :D
  13. I believe this incident happened in Nimbin, have any of you been to Nimbin? I do have some very normal friends that lives there but the place is full of very feral people. The kids run around dirty with no shoes and very little supervision. (parents are too stoned) The animals are even worse so I cant see any dog training going on or teaching kids to respect animals. I would be very surprised if it was a pure breed Labrador I do hope the little girl is ok
  14. What a magnificent horse, its not been a good month for you loosing two animals so close together. Big hugs to you at this tough time.
  15. Great shots considering they say you cant take pictures of fire works without a tripod.
  16. My seven year old standard poodle Oscar is terrified of any strange noises, he even freaks when a smoke detector goes off. One thing is I never pat him or try to console him when he is in a panicked state. Everything I have read says that would reinforce his need to panic.I find the best thing is to give him somewhere that he can hide, he especially loves my walk in wardrobe. He gets in under the cloths and hides. I have even thrown a sheet over my ironing board and he sits in there like a cubby. As long as he can hide he seems to settle better, I did try drugging him but found it quite cruel to see him struggling to walk. Thank god the fire works are mainly once a year or we would never be able to go out.
  17. Fantastic photos, I have a Sony A850 and a very expensive Zeiss lens and I would say the quality of your photos is better. What lenses came with the camera? Don't you love digital when you can just snap away and it doesn't cost anything, have fun.
  18. I thought the same thing, put him out in the middle and run him over with a jet ski and then see who is laughing. Mongrel
