  1. Take a look here and see when the next show is on at Durack, http://www.dogsqueensland.org.au/Durack-Info.aspx If you click up the top where its says Durack All breeds standard Ring Plan you should find the Saints on ring 16 and sometimes ring 5 Also do what SoL said, unless you brought the puppy on main register you cant show. Go along to a few shows and watch the people showing the saints and have a chat to them. I might get to see you one day when I eventually get my Newfoundland show dog, we will be at the same ring Good luck and we love photos of puppies.
  2. I am so sorry for your loss, and agree you shouldn't be alone maybe you have a friend or a co worker you could call. Have you brought any new plants, a friend of mine lost a dog because the plants he brought had fertiliser on them and his dog ate it. If you do find a bait I would report it to the police, if someone threw it in your yard he could do it again. Big hugs to you
  3. Just love your photos and could never get enough of them, Lukey looks pretty settled now. What a great spot to go for a walk, they look like they are having a ball
  4. I have named my cat after a dog I had about 20 years ago but apart from that I wouldn't do it.
  5. I have two standards a toy and a Jack russell and think the exercise needs depend more on the individual dog and not always the breed. My nine year old female standard never stops and pesters us to throw the ball constantly. Our eight year old male who is nearly twice the size of Ella would sleep his life away. The toy will sleep all day as well but take her to the park and she would out run a rabbit. I walk them all for an hour every morning and in the afternoons we play ball in our yard. If you do your own grooming you are way ahead, good luck with what ever you decide. :D
  6. I too will be checking labels from now on, that was so sad but so beautiful all at the same time
  7. Amazing how well they adapted to the new wheels, thanks for the video
  8. I can relate to that my daughter lives an hour from Toronto and we have been over in February, -40 wind chill and -20 deg I nearly died.
  9. Just a thought, we have been lucky to find vet nurses that are happy to stay at our house for a small fee. That way our house is safe and I know the animals have the best of care. The first vet nurse and her partner were our pet sitters for nearly three years(they now have there own house and pets). We have just found a new sitter and have found this has worked for us very well. I have four dogs and a cat so its way cheaper then putting them into a kennel.
  10. I will be watching this thread very closely as I too have the same issues but mine are compounded by the fact I walk four dogs on my own. I have one a 30 plus kilo standard poodle that is not dog friendly so we have the odd dog behind the fence problem and having to cross the street if another dog is approaching. I walk at 5am in the morning so we don't come across to many dogs, this past week i have filled my pocket with Liver treats. Every time I get close to the fence barkers I try and redirect there attention to me. So far it is helping but I will be interested in what other people advice you to do. Walking one at a time is not an option for me it would take four hours to give them all a one hour walk. Good luck in working with your dogs.
  11. Really? That's great news. Now.... do you have a link to the news report that tells us that? lol No but apparently the dog followed a lady home from a park it had no collar or tag so she didn't know who owned it. I didn't see if she checked for a microchip but anyway she saw the story on the news ( a week later) and realised it was the same dog.

    My New Girl..

Love the photos, your puppy is very cute and looks like that kitten has made herself at home.
  13. I thought that as well but at the end of the segment a man from an assistance dog organisation came on and was pleading for them to get it back so maybe it is genuine. I tried to find a link to the story but lucked out
  14. They are so cute, the people next door to me are puppy raisers so I have had lots of puppy cuddles.
  15. I have a dog park five house away from me but its not fenced. The council refuse to fence it because all dogs off leash should be under the owners control. I take my dogs down about 5.30 in the morning after we have been for a walk. I have four dogs so it is easier to go when no one else is there.
  16. Very cheap to feed
  17. I am another one that walks four dogs on my own, so we go at 5am for an hour every morning.I don't do afternoons too many dogs around and I have one that is not dog friendly. My OH plays ball with them in our back yard every afternoon.
  18. I just finished reading this story on ninemsn, I only wish the same fate on people that did this. I hope that dog goes to a special home and is loved and spoilt for the rest of his life.
  19. I find Barf very expensive, I have four dogs and have tried to give them Barf but its out of my price range. Homemade BARF not the patties isn't too bad. How do you make your home made Barf? If you don't mind me asking
  20. I could not sleep at night with my dog outside. When we have taken our dogs with us they sleep inside the camper with us. I currently have two friends traveling around Australia with two cattle dogs so it can be done. They have had to kennel them a couple of times. If they just want to go scuba diving or into a national park they have been paying back packers to mind the dogs. They put a notice up at the local back packers and have been over whelmed with the response. Back packers are always short of cash so its a win win situation. I am not sure it is something I would do but it is working for them.
