Not sure if you are handy but after spending over $200 on a table and now finding it is to small for my Newfoundland we are making our own. I am using all the measurements and details from a friend that has already made one for her Newf. Table is 700 wide x 1300 long x 600 high We brought a sheet of 17mm ply from Bunnings. cut to size and round off the corners Also from Bunnings Pyramid matting to flu on the table top ( we brought Blue) but comes in different colours Qucik qrip sealer to glue matting onto table top We brought a set of folding legs also from Bunnings they hold over 100 kilos, if they are to high you can cut them down. The last thing we are yet to get is some Aluminium angle that needs to be put around the edge of the table so it doesn't get knocked around. You can get this in Bunnings but we haven't brought it yet

Do You Have Both Eyes Open When You Shoot?
mish13 replied to redangel's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
They say you should have both eyes open so you don't miss something that could be happening outside the view of your eye piece. I can't do it I always shut one eye. ;) -
I brought a 28 inch one from www.classicshowsupplies.com.au, this size wasn't on the web site but I contacted Janelle and she had what I wanted. You must have one very big dog

Great idea but how much do you put into this account each week? I don't want hubby to know what our six cost, he would have heart failure

I am showing my Newfoundland and didn't start him in the ring until he was over six months old. He has just finished in minor and will move into puppy at his next show in February. He is by no means trained like some of the other dogs in the ring but as Havasneeze said I would rather he was having fun then behave like a robot. Last Saturday I saw a young girl ( under 20) hit her dog and not treat it very well at all and the poor dog wasn't do anything wrong that I could see. Her robot dog beat me in class in group. I didn't care except I wish she didn't win just because she was a nasty nasty person.

Fenced Dog Parks And Tips For Long Car Trips?
mish13 replied to PoppyDog's topic in General Dog Discussion
Thanks! Thanks for the hint... just found two places. But I don't think either are fenced which worries me. May need to buy a super long leash. My pup has this things with going toilet on a leash... she's never done it for me before so I'm worried about this hence the need for a fenced dog park or two along the way. I brought a horse lunge lead which I am currently using for my Newf, now that he thinks its fun to play chase the leader ( except he wants to be the leader) Or you can get a retractable lead which is a bit easier to carry -
Great photos and the foster is very cute

Grooming Set Up For Medium To Large Dogs
mish13 replied to Zug Zug's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Hi Zug Zug, here is a couple of shots I took a while ago of my grooming set up. I have had back surgery twice so its important that its as easy for me as possible. I have plumbed hot water just around the corner from the hydro bath, the table is a solid metal outdoor table that my husband made a cover for. I put rubber matting on the floor and I also use a chair to sit when I am doing the standards feet and my smaller dogs. In the bottom left corner of one of the photo's you can see a lower table, my standard and Newf jump onto that table then up onto the higher table. The only ones I lift are my toy and the Jack. Whoops hope the photos are not to big -
You cant use a check chain here at Southport but you can at a couple of other obedience places on the Gold Coast.

Not sure what part of Qld you are in but if you do want to consult a Dermatologist I recommend Mike Shipstone http://www.qldvetspecialists.com.au/dermatology -
Jarvis is just so cute, glad to hear he is settling in.

I have got my six month old Newfoundland on this and he is doing well, I do also add something different each day. Like an egg yolk, sardines, tuna, mince, natural yoghurt it's just for a bit of taste really. He also gets a few added vitamins and I don't have any trouble with runny poo's, I hope you find what works for you

Which stall is yours? I will make sure we drop by. If you come up to pat Grizzly please tell me you are from the dogzonline thread, it will be fun to meet some of you. I am meeting someone at lunch time other wise I would have gone early because I think its going to be pretty hot.. Minxy a breeder that breeds Akitas used to show a Newfoundland at Durack when I used to go there.

Thanks for sharing this, I also buy large breed puppy we started with Proplan but have now gone to Eagle Pack. I think I now pay more for a smaller bag but its what his breeder likes so I will keep him on it while he is growing. I will go and take a look at their web site to see if they have this product and how much it is
-
Oh will you be taking 1 or more of your dogs? I will have to look out for you. Especially if you take the Newfie pup :D If I am on my own I will only take Grizzly, if my hubby comes we will bring Ella as well. I should be there around midday I should be pretty easy to spot

One of our dogs Oscar reacts to storms our smoke detector and god knows what else. We recently brought a 47inch crate for our new Newfoundland puppy and most of the time its Oscar thats in it. He is much better when there are any noises if he can be in there with a blanket just covering the top and two sides. So maybe if the vet says nothing is wrong you might think about giving her somewhere where she feels secure.

I will be going on Saturday, I sure hope the parking situation has improved

Need Advice For New Doggy Door For Giant Breed
mish13 replied to mish13's topic in General Dog Discussion
My partner made our Great Dane doggy door (not for security obviously....a person could get through it but as you know whenyou have big dogs security isn't really a problem LOL). It is perspex with hinges and holds up well. It took a while to teach the old girl how to use it, but the younger ones just bash it open. The sticker you see on it was to teach the puppy to target it to open the door. Thanks everyone for your suggestions, rainy this wouldn't work for us because we still want to be able to lock the security door even thou a person could get through the bottom. I do like this idea MEH because the man that built our other dog door said the hinges wont last with a bigger door. He was talking about the door hinging at the top but with bigger hinges and on the side he just might do it for us.I will show him this photo
