Yay, im sooo glad to see im NOT the only dog showerer.. If all I had was a flimsy curtain to keep her in it, that idea would be a goner, i can picture that soo clearly!!! :D :D I have the glass sliding doors as well, its a big wet prison!! The hose rates up there with the vaccuum cleaner for Jinta too... something to be very wary of, and launch the occasional attack at. :p Id lover to hose her on hot days, but I get filthy looks for pouring water on her to keep her cool... -

Ummm now i Know im a tad wierder than I had thought.... Jinta is a pain to bath, she HATES it, the word BATH is enough to send her off to hide...Cant bath her in a bath tub(try wresleing with a wet staffy determined to get out), she climbs out of the laundry sink(same thing as bath but easier), if I hosed her outside shed hate me forever, Soooooo, when its bath time, i take a shower, and then call her in. she gets her shampoo, a good rinse, and sits happliy with her skin shampoo on for 10 minutes!!! then, I get her out, towel her off, and wash myself, and clean shower out with domestos! its a pain in the butt. so I have now decided, I WANT A "dogs" HYDROBATH!!!!!!! My ensuite is MINE! then again she thinks my bed is hers...whats mine these days??? -

Thats ok anne, i can see how I was easily missunderstood. I wasnt being nasty at all, not for 1 second. Anne weve been chatting in the dogs forums for ages, you have been giving me advise since I 1st got Jinta, in another forum, I KNOW your a dog lover, and also quite knowledgeable. Your advise has helped me so much in the past. :D I have a bad habit of typing what id actually say, and it reads differently to the voice., and lacks body lanuage....we all are missunderstood sometimes. -

So the peroxide isnt even diluted?? just a spoon full/weight? Yep im sure that would make anything throw up. Id be asking a vet to do that though, what are the side effects? (any news Jentil?) -

Anne i didnt mean to sound like i was trashing you, im sure you wouldnt hurt a dog. It was more suprise, that peroxide would be an option. I think I might have even read of it before somewhere. If you could have seen my face, you would know what i mean. I hate how written word can easily be confused. Ive been doing cleaning all day, and my hands smell of domestos, the thought of drinking peroxide freaks me out. I doubt i could get Jinta to drink even the most diluted solution of that. I think id prefer to use a stomache pump, at the vets. Im no vet and of course have no idea. -

Peroxide???? wouldnt that induce death as well???? sheeeeeeet, imagine drinking peroxide. Id be more inclined to do the milk and vinegar..or milk and OJ, or just go to the vet. Peroxide?? are you serious? -

Call the nearest animal hospital and ask for advise, ASAP. Jinta once ate almost a whole family block of chocie and she was ok. I did however call vet hospital at strathfield, and they said if she showed signs to bring her in. IM not saying all will be well, but it may not be as disasterous as your thinking? Call the vet, and they can help you with how to induce vomiting. Goodluck. Jinta was a pup when she did that,(under 6 months, weighed approx, 9kgs. so I dont go into a full scale panic unless its more than a large size block of dove chocolate. (id be alot more concerned if theyed eaten a mud cake....FULL of the dangerous cooking chocolate, it has the highest concerntration of the bad chemicals.) -
Gee I hope Middie is ok, this is a BAD week for some dol people..... Pay no attention to what others think of your worrying, no-one at my work understands why I have to be at home when my Jintas sick. Im GA paranoid now, my sisters dog died recently and it was GA related. He was a big mastiff, 3 yr old boy who died because of too much anestetic, he was just having a few lumps removed from his leg. Im afraid of Jinta going under now, how do you know if your vets got a good reputation regarding animals and gen.anestetics?? she might need a knee operation soonish... Im really arfaid of the GA now.

Warning: Annual Vaccinations & Border Collies
Jintanut replied to westielover's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
My staffy has her annual vaccinations last week, or the week before,? she didnt seem too well afterwards , at 1st I was worried, she got the shivers, and was very listless, she vomited once, and had dioreah. I was in a panic by then. I Called the vet, and he said if shes not ok in the morning, to bring her in, at one stage in the night I wasnt even sure she'd be alive in the morning. So this worried mummy sat up and watched her, made her show me she could walk every few hrs... When I spoke to my vet the following day, and Jinta HAD recovered, he said that its being discussed atm, re: how often do we NEED to vaccinate, He even went so far as to say by this time next year yearly vacc. will be phased out, and only the 1st , and 2nd being the most important, and yearly heartworm. he is quite cynical about the actual protection vaccinations give, and the fact that some vets are beggining to see this, and agree. He told me he'd know more by the time we visit next, so Im thinking they WILL SOON phase out annual vaccinations. I hope so, because I wouldnt put a baby through vaccinations yearly, and ive done some reaserch myself about the dangers of vaccinations, and the lack of protection they give. Also I read that Parvo was a man made virus.. ;) There is info on the web about dangers of vaccinating, although I have never seen it as being breed specific. -
Glad all is ok, staffies with dioreah omg, its full on isnt it!!! Jinta get the runs sometimes, but it usually clears up pretty quick, as a pup she had the same thing , and I was given same advise as You got. Use that advise whenever they get the runs..or sprays..

new pup is actually a little person!!! a baby sis is about 5 months pregnant. Its a boy, and he's going to be named Max. She found out it was a boy about 5 minutes before Max died. They went straight from hospital to pick up the dog after her sex test -ultra- sound thingy.
-
Big fella Max, 3 years old, went for a small operation and died during surgury on a small lump on his leg....suddenly taken from Kylyn and Jon, and the rest of the dog family, Max will be missed, but a baby soon to be born now has a name chosen, Max. He was a creamy yellow mastiff type dog, absolutly beautiful nature big sooky eyes, and slobery wet kisses. RIP Max.

Most Staffies have to work alot harder at floating, because of muscle to fat ratios. Dogs that are not a 'ball of muscle' will float easier than a brick on legs. Ive had Jinta in the ocean she only does little swims at this stage, shes quite wary of the whole deep water thing. We swim together so I dont worry she will go out to sea. Id like to be sure that people are aware that a life vest IS not a guarentee that your dog or child cant/wont drown while wearing a floatation aid. They can still drown, so keep watch same as if they didnt have one on. happy swimming!! ;) (says the swim instructor...) oh those underwater scratches are bad news, Ive had another dog, a strangers dog scratch me badly as it swam past me one day.OUCH. So far Jintas carefull not to hurt me.
-
I was told do it at 6 months, so true to my word at age 6 months exactly, i booked Jinta in for desexing. Shes female .. anyway she seemed to come into heat the very morning of the operation, she seemed to have a slight period!!!! ;) I took her to the vets and he decided it was ok to do the op anyway. I was later told this was wrong of the vet to do this. She came through her op with no complications at all, and is fine. was she just an early developer?? i thought that doing it at age 6 months was before the 1st season, or whatever you call a dog period?.
