Jinta has issues with nail trimming too....why are some dogs so protective of their nails??? Ok I admit I screwed up slightly when she was a pup and went too short on 1 nail, but 3 yrs later, if I pick up the clipers, she runs off, or growls at me( this is the ONE time she will or has shown agression towards me) I doubt a vibrating tool will be any less stressful...i rely on vet visits to keep her nails trim, and walks on concrete help a little but not much. Id invest in a dremmel if I thought she would let me use it.

why guess?? about medicine?? ekkk. Handy to sedate a dog...bit wrong though, if it was ok, ive had sedated Jinta for her silly puppy era...2 yrs worth. ask a vet and only give doggy valium(not human), under vets instructions. I know of a pappilion who had an OD of human valium.(accident, it ate about 10) IMO medication is a little overboard for grooming purposes. I wouldnt even consider it, unless prescribed. Most dogs arent THAT crazed... Jinta is a freak about her nails with me, but my vet doesnt sedate her to cut them. Mums SWF is a great dog to groom, she can stand still for up to an hr(after bath..) while I trim her perfectly! Please get Vets advise, not forum. At a guess, id say the weight of the dog affects the amount needed to sedate.

Minty Is Sick - At Vets On Drip
Jintanut replied to Animal House's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
:D im SO happy to see lil Minty is home and well. When Jinta was a pup she had a bout of gastro( although not as badly as minty) and vets advise for food was small meals of chicken and rice about 4 times a day. They get used to it, i will still feed jinta chicken and rice if shes not well, its her comfort food. I recall getting up at 6am and boiling rice and chicken, and feeding Jinta... bf laughed so hard, because theres no way id be up at 6am for ANYONE else!! princess Jinta had me wrapped around her pinky from day 1. YAY Minty. :p -

Im praying for lil minty. Hope all goes well, and shes back chewing shoes in no time. :p -
Thanks again everyone, As some of you know I fought hard for her life, I took her from bad people, shed been to hell and back at age 5 wks, she was 7 wks when she passed. i really wanted to ensure her safety in her furture, and look what happend. i feel responsible somehow, i promised that puppy safety and a good life with me. I know i did everything right, she didnt go out on footpaths, she never left my home except for the vets and the one occasion she was taken, she was gone for 6 hrs, the thug i rescued her from came and snatched her. Then like magic, after i went off the richter he bought her back. Its been a battle since day 1. I missed work a few times to be with her when she 1st arrived, she was too young to be alone too long. I dont know 2 nights on no sleep, my eyes are so dry, yet tears seem to be unlimited. Im an emotional wreak, probably a good time for bed. I know in my heart my Trudy has met her and is taking care of pup, they are together waiting for me.

I KNOW exactly how you feel today, its a grieving day for me too. Im sorry you lost 2 so close. I only had pup a short while, but they do wiggle into your heart so quickly. My thoughts are with you.

Jintas not happy at all. Shes waiting for pup. The vet gave Jinta a booster and a good look over, she seems 100% healthy. Thank god. I have cleaned and disinfected EVERYTHING. Thanks again, we will be ok, just not yet. missing little Jazza like crazy.
-
Thank-you, from me and Jinta, this sucks.its hard. Jazza was so needy and i gave her my all. She came to me at maybe 5 wks of age. She came from a bad person, in bad conditions. I fed her well, gave her love, warmth, and she was looking SO healthy. The vets says she was probably weaker because she missed feeds on her mum, immunity wasnt as strong as what it would have been?. thanks for yr thoughts everyone.

hi. yesterday pup became sick, about 4 days after her shots. chip. rego... she went to the vets and i just got the call earlier am. She didnt make it. she passed to the bridge at about 2am last night. They said she died fast, apparently it went to her heart.. I dont know much about parvo, but her blood tests were showing abnormal white cell count, and they tell me it was parvo. I do know she was on a very healthy diet, she was getting nothing but the best. I never took her out...i did everything right. She came to me in a wierd way, I wanted to save her from people who knew too much, or nothing about dogs. She was taken from my home (without permission) by these people about 10 days ago, before she was returned, i have no idea where she was taken. Im sure she picked it up at that time. Jinta seems to know, and shes whimpering, and searching for pup, and looking at me for an explaination. Shes really fretting for her new friend. Jinta is having a booster shot in about an hr, we are going to go pick up Jazza. Im going to bury her next to Trudy, at mums. Goodbye Jazza you touched my heart little one. Trudy Blue is already up there waiting for you sweetheart. Go run with the butterflies, my baby JazzaD. rest easy Jazza one last goodbye picture for those who didnt meet the 'special' one.

OK K9 thanks again, I think its time I do make a booking, even if it is for Feb,06. I think a consult will be beneficial for both Jinta and myself, as we had lessons of basic obiedience at puppy age, with Hanrob guy, Steve someone...?Cant recall his name ATM. Time for more private lessons....this time,...with K9! I am guessing that after the initial consult we see what needs to be worked on, and go from there? How do I book in, do I have to go through your site?? I think its valuable spending some 'time and $$' on Jinta, to me, its priceless to gain a good understanding of my dog- its time and money well spent on a furkid I share my life with. ;) K9 my diary is also mapped out a bit, but I have Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays free. Have yet to buy an 06 diary!! Ok...so we are 1/2 way there...im 'motivated' to come see you, now got to get Jinta feeling the same. I cant wait to see you work K9.

;) Thanks k9 .. Here I was thinking she had "some" protective nature barking away those dogs..putting on a show.... Is there a way to improve her guard drive?? for when im out? Yes she goes wild when anyone arrives and im here.....but I doubt shes got it when im out, I suppose the only way to tell, is to send a stranger, neighbour to the door when im out??? Reading your thread on "drives" and trying to get my head around it,( its complex and I dont know what a drive toy is...) have you ever published a book, or dvd?might go to your site and try to learn something.... I WANT to understand all this. She loves to play, so could I use her 'play drive' to train her??? I have retreive, i have recall, I have tricks, I have response to my commands, I have control in almost every way except her protective side. How can I stop her from being 'loving' towards everyone, without turning her nasty. I just want her to have indifference/curious nature towards strangers NOT her bathing them with kisses. Thanks for sharing your wisdom, K9 I know how valuable it is.

Anyone Else Give Their Dog Greenies?
Jintanut replied to greentea's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Ohhh dear.....Jinta LOVES Denta Stix.....are they a similar product??? my vet sells them..?? They are her absolute favorite, and she INHALES them while chewing - no matter what size I give her. Anyone know if denta stix are smae as greenies???? BTW i have yet to discover greenies, and will give them a miss. Another lesson learned thanks to DOL. -
Thank you for so many replies. K9 Jinta is protective at home, she is alert to noises, and i had 2 guys come and take an old wardrobe this morning, and she puts on a big barking show, growling etc. After a sniff, and knowing im ok I suppose she calmed, and let them in. She is not a nuisance barker, but my new neighbours tell me she whimpers, or squeaks. Staffy noises, not barking. I d like to send a stranger to the door when im out to see what her reaction is. She has protected me against dogs on another occasion, 2 larger dogs were getting too close and she was VERY vocal and put herself between us. She doesnt like to see me recieve a hug.....always barks. At an of lead park she will be social, but passive towards most other dogs. When on a lead she is social. I think her recent move turned her sooky for a while, I hope she regains her confidence soon. I am watching her mature in many ways. I would not consider buying a 'ready trained dog', thats not any sort of way to own a pet, its just a machine...with a purpose, and yes I would be afraid of a dog I didnt know from puppyhood. I like to try to understand my dog.dogs (one day) I know I can put my hand in Jintas mouth, anytime, and she wont bite, its about knowing your dog, maybe im wrong? I do plan on owning a Rotti in the future, not right now, I will wait for what I need - time to train and money to train, and my own home, as I dont plan to be living in rentals for too mucher longer. Those Rotti kisses look goood.. and I agree just the BARK is enough to make you jump outta your skin!! I avoided near death by a Rotti chained up in a front yard, I stood too close in chains reach and this poor dog LIVED on that chain. Never walked, etc. Yes I reported it and RSPCA did nothing.
