I can't believe how quickly she has grown. What a handsome girl. We always loved the weird ear stage, especially when they are both pricked and meeting in the middle

Have you considered Adenia Reserve in Riverton? Bounded by Adenia Road, Duff Road and its northern prolongation to the Canning River Foreshore, the Canning River and the northern prolongation of Verdon Street. Its a fairly big grassed area and it has a BBQ with one picnic table. Its not right on the water, so you would have to walk them to the river if they are allowed a swim. There are trees along the boundary of the park, so you have shade, the road is a dead end and very quiet. Its just down from Riverton Shopping Centre

Hi MacAttack I am certainly not a puppy authority, but puppy humping can also be caused by excitement, which is a form of arousal. Does you partner play rougher than you or excites the puppy more? Either way its something best to stop immediately as it can be embaressing if they hump visitors. I would just do a a quick "ah ah" and remove your attention, pups are quick to learn that some behaviour means loss of attention

Do Your Dogs Seem To Know Their Relatives?
Swiss Girl replied to Vickie's topic in General Dog Discussion
My girl only meets her siblings a few times a year, but she definitely recognizes them, she plays very puppy with them, a lot of leaping and bounding, completely different to how she plays with other dogs, and seeing a GSD leaping and bounding is really funny. -
More Than 3 Guide Dogs A Month 'attacked By Dogs'
Swiss Girl replied to luffy4688's topic in In The News
I also found this really disturbing, I think it is important that they increase the fines for allowing a dog to attack a guide dog. They have to do something to make people more responsible. -
same here, a new vet moved into the area, and as I'm slightly PO with our other vet thought we would give this one a go, seems reasonably thorough, it was his idea to bring all our vet bills so he can track what had been done, so at least his intelligent.
-
We've saw a second vet for our pointer with allergies just yesterday, we just took our bills (so they can see what they've done, took all our medication and food. We told thet vet when making the appointment that we wanted a second opinion and there wasn't a problem at all. I wouldn't tell your other vet, if you like the new vet you probably will not be going back again.

Staffy Cross Missing After Airport Stuff Up
Swiss Girl replied to Freshstart16's topic in In The News
I agree, 3 years ago definitely no gates, and we had 3 puppies all trying to get out at once There's a lot of bushland in this area, no an easy place to find a dog that does not recognize your scent. I really hope they find her. -

No surprise that dogs keep us active and moving, but why can't retirement villages learn from this and more allow well mannered pets. http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/12/14/t...ner-man-vs-dog/

Thank you Alyosha, I may see if I can find the national average.

An akita breeder in Perth used to have a clause on her puppy contract that the dog must attend Obedience training for a minimum of 12 months, this ensures that the dog is socialized and trained. Would it be a good idea for all large or staffy types/working dogs to also enforce this? I have a GSD and feel it is essential for them. It may also stop a certain sort of people purchasing these dogs as they are the sort that never go to obedience. Could it be enforced? Would this be better than BSL?

so the PTS rate for 2009 is also 70% why is our PTS rate so much higher than UK's, does anyone know?
-
Is the rehoming rate in australia only 30% then? I thought it was much higher.

If Someone I Consider Reasonable Thinks This..
Swiss Girl replied to mr.mister's topic in General Dog Discussion
There are always people that are biased about many different things, it the holden v ford idea - you can't reason with them because they just know. My husband refused to get a GSD puppy "as they are too vicious and not trustworthy", but for some reason he was happy for me to get a white GSD!! Figure that out -

Pet Dogs To Be Put Down After Killing
Swiss Girl replied to Abigail's topic in General Dog Discussion
There are so many staffy crosses available for rehoming & I would hate to see one of these dogs get PTS so these 3 dogs get another home. Obviously, the owner is a jerk that is not aware that there is consequences to our actions (or lack of). Many dogs show dog aggression amd 3 dogs running loose is a pack, many larger dogs get excited when around scared dogs and this can escalate from rough play into attack, in fact many packs of loose running dogs show human aggression and have been known to attack us. This was such a horrible thing to have happened, and the owner of the chi's must be so devastated, but I do wonder how good his fences are, part of having fences is to keep our animals protected while we are not there. -
Or if you don't have time to fix it, lock the dog in the house until you can fix the fence, take it to your parents house, pay for boarding, lots of options rather than let it run loose & if you know there is someone out there attacking it, I don't call this loving my dog, I call this callous disregard.

Woamn Fined For Having Animals Living In Her Car.
Swiss Girl replied to Steve's topic in In The News
She would have known way before losing her house that she was in trouble, if she really loved her animals should would have been slowly rehoming them, and not being selfish. Where were her family or friends in all of this? Why is it the RSPCA's job to help her? -
There's been an update on this story, but when you read it note that the dog is STILL allowed to run free. I can not believe that he is not protecting his dog, as it is still recovering for its injuries.
