I have tried to mentor this person and its like Health testing, WORMING, not letting pups leave until 8 weeks, explaining about limited register... it is startng to do my head in.

We have breeders and we have ETHICAL breeders.....

This morning a friend who is a breeder rang me after one of her pups was picked up by a transport company. The Breeder placed the dog in the crate and then looked again and it was full of vomit and poo. The driver explained that the person responsible for the cleaning was only new in the job and was really slow. He then asked if the breeder had a hose to clean it out, no cleaning agents, just a hose! The breeder then refused the let the driver place the pup in the cage and suggested that the pup sit on the front seat with him. The driver drove off with the pup in the front of the van. The pup was being transported from the western suburbs to the city. The new owner wasn't able to pick up the pup due to sickness and wanted the pup soon as it was now nearly 10 weeks old. This is disgusting, and people are wondering why pups are getting sick from the transport companies. The pup was picked up at 8am, which means this probably may have been the first run of the morning, so that was still sitting in their from a trip yesterday. The breeder rang the new owner and explained everything to her and she was going to make a complaint. This is not good enough. Has anyone else seen this before?

No ticks here, only use flea treatment when my boy has been exposed to fleas from dogs at training or at someone's house. Usually only in the warmer months.

That is why the original owner should have desexed her before rehoming.

She can't contact the breeders, as she mentioned she bought him from a petshop. hshen - Ask someone in rescue if they can place him on Petrescue for you for free, then you make a donation to that rescue group. Your job now is to sell your dog, talk him up, eg he is house trained, doesn't bark, went to puppy school, does obedience, walks well on the lead, is dog and cat friendly. Would make someone a fantastic pet, due to reasons beyond our control we are unable to keep him.... yadadadada

Your dogs are pretty smart though, they understand complete sentences.

A bit OT, but when I was a kid of about 8 we had a nieghbour who was Polish. He had about 4 dogs and I was amazed that they understood Polish.... I know of someone whos ridgy understands English and Spanish. Im interested that there are a number of people who actually train using a language other than English! Ive never really considered it! Rat The majority of the Schutzhund trained dogs are bilingual.

That statement is just wrong! The ranger was only doing their job taking away that animal. Why did it take the owners 5 months to construct the dog pen? And there is no comments from the owners to say that they had fixed it over the weekend after the dog got impounded and were about to pick up their dog. Sad, but did someone really stuff up? What was in the original documentation when the dog was declared a DD? Was there a time frame and at what time would the dog would be impounded and destroyed? Was the dog just running around the back yard without the collar and muzzle on? Big fines if that was the case!

Sit back and put yourself in this person's shoes. How do you not know that they are not military and are posted out of Australia for 2 years, and due to living and working on a base you can not have any types of pets. Oversea's posting onto a airforce base you are NOT allowed pets for the runway safety, exactly what happened to someones 2 dogs this week. It is that time of year that postings are coming out and people are given 1-6 months notice to sell up everything including homes and cars and find homes for animals.

If he is doing that much damage to the bathroom, I would not try a crate as he may hurt himself trying to get out of it.

Thanks nickojoy....I'm really interested in considering all options and what normally happens because I haven't dealt with it before. I want to make sure I do the right thing by the breeder as much as I want to by me. I just didn't know what the expectation or ethical thing to do is - dangerous ground I know because everyone is different....... Listen to exactly what Sandra said, make sure you both sign some sort of aggreement and have a witness sign also.

What about half upfront and the remainder once the bitch is confirmed pregnant via ultrasound? You still have to sign the documents and supply certificates so the bitches owner can register the litter. So its not like they can do a runner...well you wouldn't think they would.

Get a black thick pen and cover the registration number prior to sending it also.

My dog doesn't go to the toilet on his walk/run, even if we are on a long drive he waits until he is in a yard to go and only that is offlead. We drove Brisbane to Sydney at Christmas time 9 hours with nothing.

I tried explaining to a friend that it is a $10k fine if busted breeding animals that are cross bred or without any type of pedigree papers. One good thing I saw yesterday was there are a number of stafford breeders now selling their pups main registered but desexed. Fantastic idea, the pups can still do everything except bred from. Pups are leaving at 12 weeks and these breeders are not having problems rehoming at all. At least you are rehoming to genuine pet homes.
