Hi BF Glad Zoe is ok. Have you thought of maybe trying some raw fresh food like chicken necks if you can source them where you are? Just a thought. ;) Bet you will sleep tonight after your big day. Fingers crossed your baby will too. -

Hi everyone Thought it was about time to post again. Jangels is 13 weeks old and absolutely gorgeous. We are having so much fun with him. He is thriving on his raw diet putting on about a kg a week. His biting is getting much better and he is nearly house trained. Just the odd accident! Having lots and lots of toys has really helped with his typical destructive Labrador nature. Only casualities so far are a pair of thongs and a few plants. We took him to friends yesterday for a BBQ who have 2 Bull Terriers which was a bit stressful at first but he ended up bossy them around. He is just wonderful!! Here is one the latest photos taken yesterday. Congratulations to everyone on their new babies and hope you have all had a great Easter. -

Hi CruiseNRoxy, Hemi is gorgeous. Congratulations. I know exactly what you are going through with loosing your Cruise this year. We lost our 14 year old Labrador Jake on 31 December. Started looking at puppies on DOL the next week just to see where all the breeders were located. One thing lead to another and we found our gorgeous Jangels (J for Jake and angel = Jakes angel + an s) and put the deposit down. We both weren't sure if we were ready but went ahead anyway as was the exact colour we wanted and that Jake was. My poor husband has been grieving terribly over our darling Jake almost to the point of depression I suspect. We have had Jangels for nearly 2 weeks & has been wonderful for us both. As you too said he is helping mend 2 very broken hearts and helping us move forward. We are in love again. Jangels has so many of Jake's traits which is amazing and makes us smile. Can I ask what happened to Cruise? Best wishes to you & Hemi -

Blue Fairy - Not much going on here . Although I should be looking at it as it is 1 day closer to my pup! The only thing I really have going for me at the moment is that I am going to meet up with the breeder in about 2 weeks. That should be good! I've had to change my signature date aswell. I read the email again, and the pups won't be born until Aug/Sep, so I think it's safe to say November is when I will get my pup. Happy Birthday aswell! I hope you and your husband have a great dinner :) jakeyjangels - Jangles is adorable! Little fat thing he is! Costa's mum - :D I've used JetPets before.....what a bad experience THAT was! Thanks MAD Yes he loves his food & is doing really, really well on his raw diet. -

Aww, how sweet ;) James has discovered the art of licking, so I've been slobbered to death today. When he's not trying to chew the buttons of my shirt, that is. Poppyx, I'm sorry to hear about the delay Have you picked a name for your girl yet? Jangels is such a squishy little guy! Happy 9 weeks to him! We considered going for a yellow lab at one point, but black was the original idea so we decided not to waver. Yellow labs have the most expressive faces though! Our breeder sent out a slideshow of piccies from the pups' first 8 weeks and all the photos of the yellow puppies are just wonderful. James too, turns 9 weeks old today! We finally got around to weighing him and freaked out that he was underweight until some googling was done, and apparently he's spot on He's finishing most of his meals now and I think is actually chubbing up a little. Must keep an eye on that. Has anyone's puppy seen the vet yet? James' next vaccination isn't until the end of the month and we've been tossing up whether or not to give him a general checkup beforehand. Niques Yes he is a squishy little guy. We are 'one eyed' yellow or we call cream as we always pick the lightest. As I am writing this I can hear another argument downstairs between Jangels and hubby. He must be telling him to stop biting or something and Jangels has to have to have the last say. Very hard to be serious as it is so funny. Jangels has his next vaccination (2nd of 3) next Friday 12th. My opinion on a checkup unless you are worried about something it's not really necessary. Just my thoughts. No worries here on Jangels finishing his meals Typical lab!! Happy 9 weeks to James too! -

Hi Everyone, And I'm sorry for the delay with this post. We picked up our new baby Labrador Jangels on Saturday @ 8am. He is everything and more than we expected. He is adorable and we are in love again. He is boisterous, loves his food & water and doesn't have a shy bone in his body! Toilet training isn't going so well but he has been very quiet during the night. Our breeder is awesome and made our 8 week journey a pleasure. Jax: Badger and his bottle is so cute Love the corgi photos. Congrats to everyone on their new babies. Love the updates & photos Here is Jangels the day we got home -

I know exactly what you are going through littlehoot.... 7.30 am Saturday for us..... Name tag today and we are done -
My 14 year old beautiful Labrador had his yearly vaccination on 12 December (we have never missed a year) last year because that is when it was due and as we were going on holidays to a caravan park for a week, a week later, and thought this was the right/responsible thing to do. We had to put him to sleep on the 31 December. I too questioned if this vaccination was necessary, especially at his age and with his ongoing health problems. I was told yes by our vet who we had used for 11 years. Angry and dissappointed are just two feelings I have towards this vet. We trusted his opinions and advice. We are going to find a new vet for our new 8 week old Labrador puppy that we pick up on Saturday.

For the good quality chicken frames you could try Jack Purcell Meats @ Virginia? He had heaps there on Friday in 1kg bags that were very meaty and a bargain buy 1 bag and get 2nd free.

Saturday for us too littlehoot for our lab baby boy - about an 8 hour drive! -
Hi yellowgirl. I love this forum. Thank you so much for this link. Dr Ian Billinghurst virtually says exactly the same in "Give Your Dog a Bone" . We fed our old Lab, Jake, on this Science Diet rubbish for the last 5 years of his life because our vet recommended such. His health gradually declined to the point and this is just one example, he ate his own faeces and the neighbours cats faeces on a daily basis. This frustrated us so much as he was an inside boy. When I asked our vet why he would be doing this he wouldn't answer. The anwer is very simple. His diet was lacking in vitamins and nutrients because of the dry commercial rubbish we were feeding him and so Jake knew in himself this. He died a horrible very painful death (he was taking very strong human pain killers in the end that didn't even work) and we are both having a hard time living with the fact we could have done so much better for him diet wise. Ever since I have been obsessed with researching & learning as much as I can about nutrition for our new baby Lab, Jangels that we bring home next Saturday. We will never buy commercial dog food again and we won't be taking any vets word as gospel. (And we will be changing vets after 11 years.) Thank you and every one else for all your diet suggestions and your thoughts.

Raw Food /non Kibble Feeders
jakeyjangels replied to all that glitters's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
No go ahead! I dont mind cos I get to learn more You had carrot peels for morning tea? LMAO -------------------------- OK another question! In terms of the mince the only mince I've found so far (apart from commercial human mince which isn't great) is minced chicken frames.. but I give Shyla whole chicken frames raw anyway, so don't need that mince! Where would I find pet mince with offal in it? For the veggie part of the diet I think I'll start with the Vets All Natural mix (cos its easier and I'll see how she does on that first) I didn't know you can give them eggs whole! Woah! So gonna try that I hessisantly spent the $75 on 2 of the 3 Dr Billinghurst books following my breeders recommendation. Worth every cent. Easy reading and we learnt so much. (try your local library) We thought we were doing the very best with our old lab who is in heaven now by following our vets advice of feeding him Hills Science diet. Will never touch commercial food again, We have a freezer full of raw food for our next Lab who we pick up next Saturday.
