'Morning Everyone, I was going to post this in the Labrador thread but I'm not allowed to post a new topic - not up with all the forum rules yet ! My 18 month old yellow Lab boy - Jangels, nose pad has gone from pitch black to pinky/brown colour over the past couple of months. I made a couple of enquiries re zinc defiency (which I'm confident it isn't) & was told that is there such a thing as winter nose on a Lab ? Or is this an old wives tale? Will the colour of his nose pad return to black again? Thank you in advance for your replys & opinions. JJ

Love this thread I'm very lucky too as Mr Jakeyjangels loves our boys as much as I do. Doesn't care how much money we spend on them & is always the first to suggest a visit to the vet if either of them look the slightest bit off colour. He has always had a special bond with Jangels to the point that I used it in my quest to get another. I would say "Jangels is your boy I want my own" - Just my excuse to get my way to have 2 dogs After pestering for nearly a year, I mentioned it again on a Friday night after he had beers. My winning line was " Jangels would really love a mate " (This time didn't mention anything about me !) By the following Monday I had found the right breeder & we were on the waiting list for a black Lab boy. Louis is 16 weeks old & his absolutely gorgeous. Jangels loves him & so does hubby but he is a real mummys boy. :D

From my experiences, they cough anytime, day & night. My old Lab's cough used to sound like he had something caught in his throat was choking. It was awful.

Sort of nothing really to do with comparing size of breeds, but my Jangels (Labrador) best mate, Zorro who is also 3 , is a Ridgey who we see frequently at our local park. I had never had anything to do with your breed until we met Zorro. They have so much fun together but what I love about Zorro along with his placid nature, is he has the biggest smile. Thinking about it though, Zorro being such a tall boy does make Jangels look short ;)

Why? They are breeding stock. The term hasn't got any negative connotations for most people knowledgeable about breeding. Would you prefer to see them referred to as "pets"? Why? Because I find the description/term of dogs used to breed, as stock, personally off putting. Don't these dogs mean & or have anything else to offer to the breeders than just being stock ? I say this from a puppy purchasers prespective, which I have been twice, in the last 18 months. So to the average 'joe blow' puppy purchaser like myself. who wants a pet from a caring breeder/environment & who doesn't have a whole lot of knowledge on breeding, it does have negative connotations. So yes, I would prefer "pets" instead of "stock" .
