  1. I've purchased all my natural products from http://www.animalhealthstore.com.au for the past 2 years. Excellent prices, service & located near Samford Brisbane north.
  2. I have fed both ways - BARF Patties & homemade with my 2 Labs. Definitely cheaper making your own. It is a bit of work so you will need time, freezer space & to be able to source human grade meat at reasonable prices. I didn't use a grinder as I used beef mince, all ready minced up chicken frames, cut up organ meat, whole fresh sardines or any small fish & over ripe fruit & veg from the discount section at the local fruit & veg shop or markets that i put in a domestic food processor. To this I added eggs - shells & all, kelp, brewers yeast, fresh herbs from the garden, flaxseed oil or cod liver oil. I made enough for about a month's supply for evening meals. I always ensured I froze all meat for at least 12 hrs to kill any bacteria before making the mix. I froze in portions enough for a couple of days in ice-cream containers. I also fed RMB's daily - breakfast - chicken or turkey necks, chicken wings or legs. Easy (& very rewarding) once you get into a routine :)
  3. Can't offer any advice on pricing more a brand recommendation. We have a SolvIt ramp (we were very lucky & given it) for our 2 Labs & it is fantastic. Happy to send you photo's if you're interested.
  4. Beautiful ..... where can I find this to print ?
  5. Thinking of you & Mojo. Fully understand the love between you. I wouldn't be able to function if anything happened to one of my boys either. Hope all goes well with his surgery today
  6. If you can source those old chennile bedspreads, I can recommend them for floor coverings. Because they are cotton, hair doesn't stick to them, they don't get too smelly too quickly being a natural fibre & are cool to lie on. Quick shake daily & they wash easily. I have lots of them that I find at the local op shops.
  7. My housemate - my husband of 19 years is in love with our boys as much as I am .. I am so lucky
  8. I have never owned a GSD but have 2 Labs. Jake, our Lab who has passed, used to shed terribly. We have polished timber floors & I had to vacuum daily. Change of season it came out in clumps but daily he still shed. Jangels & Louis are completely different. They still shed but no where near as much & no clumps. I just run the Enjo dusting floor cleaner over the floors daily & vacuum twice a week. We have a Meile with a power head which does an excellent job. I don't know if it has anything to do with their diets - Jake was fed dry food & Jangels & Louis I feed raw. Maybe different dogs, different coats but I'm guessing it is diet related ?
  9. Such an interesting thread. I've always wondered why these beautiful dogs were so expensive..... Now I understand
  10. I feed it to both mine for breakfast every morning with a dollop of natural yoghurt & livarmol mixed in. My older boy's breeder started feeding VAN so I have continued. Both my Labs do really well on it.
  11. My hubby just said after he finished reading this in the paper "I would like to take whoever did that, for a drive out to the desert & throw them out of the car in the middle of summer"
  12. As becks post said. My vet says "if a no 2 is kickable thats good "
  13. Such a nice story & pleased she is feeling better
  14. I tend to agree with this there are idiot owners out there that dont know a thing so if you take your dogs they will encounter wild out of control dogs - its not right but its part and parcel of dog parks So true. I am dealing with an idiot owner at our local park at the moment whose dog is just a menace and the owner is in total denial. If wasn't that my boys love going for the exercise & socialisation & because I have a leg injury & can't walk them ATM, I would have given the park a miss by now. I choose my times & am very, very vigilant.
  15. My $300+ reading glasses One of the lenses was never found !
  16. Same as Bubbity's reply. I don't use it the winter months.
  17. I have the collars that have their name & phone no embroided on them. Happy with the quality. Not cheap but I got sick of tags.
  18. We were having similar issues with my youngest Lab puppy Louis, humping our older Lab boy Jangels. We tried all sorts of discipline. It was driving us but more importantly, Jangels, crazy. So as much as I wanted to keep Louis entire for development reasons, we gave in & had him desexed 2 weeks ago. Instant fix. Hasn't tried once that we are aware of It was just to hard with 2 males. It was the right decision. But having said that, there is a 7 yr desexed male GR who comes to our local park & the minute he arrives he starts humping the first dog he can get to. Just my experience with the humping thing ! :D
  19. Couldn't agree more deltoid ! Immediate success with my two boys. Love ours too.
  20. The Vet Shed website are advertising a new tablet or chew product on the market that protects against everything - all intestinal worms, heartworm & fleas. Not sure if it covers ticks ?
