  1. It also works for us, we use the word "off" or "enough".....And I think dogs are better seeing things. if they only hear they will bark more. And if the builders are friendly, how about an intro. We did that with our builders.
  2. My Annabelle does that....She also tells off the dogs for doing the wrong things, she is our "perfect" girl
  3. This site might help too http://www.marvistavet.com/html/pharmacy_center.html
  4. ;) :D I have a well trained newf...will sit forever, very obedient. doesn't bark though. have a golden cross Border collie who is very obedient too and "smiles" and "speaks'' on command, even says "hello". Probably too far away
  5. Tobias went to our favorite vet yesterday..........we went at the end of his day, so that we would have plenty of time. The girls went for their vaccinations and heartworm checks. Everyone was so good and well behaved. All the people were awed at our team coming in and being so good. But the news for Toby is not good....... Toby has lymphoma....he has at least two very large lumps that will possible affect his walking and or bowel movements. Our vet tells us it could be two weeks or three month. But if the lumps do not increase in size, maybe longer. Mike was devastated (so am I) He has just walked in and taken our hearts. But we decided that no we would not put him down, which was offered. We are going to give him a happy short life, until he has pain or cannot move freely.....Some of you have seen him in the video's he runs and bounces and barks away, he is joyful, he is going to have a joyful time. I am crying as I post this, BUT.....We will now get on with living. This is Toby time Toby is thew barking oneAs an add on, the poor guy has a broken lower jaw...........Quite recent and it has healed, sort of, out of alignment. His cherry eye now has drops to reduce the inflammation. the jaw will stay as is. The neutering is not happening and neither is the cherry eye repair. So today he is going to the river and tomorrow maybe the lake again. because he loves to go out on trips. He gained some more weight and is happily snoring here in the lounge room. Katy and Annabelle had a good play session with him this morning and Tessa even allows him to smell her now. So here is to Toby being happy
  6. That is just great....I love the pic of him with his new owner, adorable pic
  7. Good for you for taking on a rescue....I am glad he is improving
  8. That's fantastic Newfsie. What a sweet boy - he couldn't have gone to a better home. What do he and the girls think of each other? Are you coming down to the fun day in October so we can meet him? We would love to come, but mike is working and I am not sure how I would manage the four on my own Tobias is such a friendly social guy he would have a blast, he is however not too well trained and we are working at that. He has no idea what "sit" mans or loose lead walking means
  9. We were at the Lake to introduce our new rescue to the Lake and I took this picture of Katy, just after she pulled all of this stuff up from the bottom And Katy and Tobias with Mike.....His first trip out with us, A newfie scared of water
  10. Very lucky "Kodak moments" great and they made me smile
  11. Balcon from Quenbeyan pound has found a forever home with us, he is a very quiet boy, who is like velcro attached to my hubby. He now listens to his new name, because he loves all the treats that come with it. balcon means nothing to him. He doesn't even blink He has a lot of health issues and is very thin. i realised in the first day of feeding him that he cannot eat out of a bowl, due to ?? stroke or Bell's Palsy. So now we feed him raw meat balls with grain ( rolled oats and barley) and blended lupins, fish, oils, egg, Vit C, kelp and Glucosamine. he loves them and is fed four times a day. His stools have improved in one day from cow patty to soft formed. He has had a wash and smells much sweeter So here is Toby, with his little "sister" Katy Toby had a wash.....Six towels later and hair everywhere, here is the result. he panicked a little initially, but settled wel and tolerated the two hours quite well.......OMG he was dirty. Quite handsome really......In our front yard Would not recognize him as the same dog at the pound He is kinda HUGE.....Katy is 65kg's and he weighs about the same, but is reed thin The fur is hiding a lot of bad stuff I am setting myself up for sadness i think. He has quite a few lumps, but he is adoring and we love him already.......Now onto those smelly ears. Vet visit for the cherry eye
  12. Get well soon Yogi, glad to hear you are home, newfsie
  13. Let me know, if I am not commited to anything else i will be there................
  14. I could possibly help with big dogs but my guys would overwhelm such little guys and our fencing is only suitable for larger dogs..........I hope you can find someone to help
  15. Love it pictures of a perfectly happy dog.........Makes me smile
  16. We use the sit/stay on our three and Katy is just a 12month old giant breed. we have always made the doorways a very important part of our training. We are in charge at the door. they wait. Be it when someone arrives or when we want to go through the door. it gets back to basic obedience, sit/stay and you could use a mat. initially when we brought our rescue newf home we did a lot of door knocking and having friends visit. the dogs were rewarded for good behaviour and the door never opened when the barking continued, hence we used different friends initially. Annabelle our rescue was terrible when we got her at fourteen month. Bur basic obedience with positive reinforcement has made her very polite at the door. And yes they do bark initially and yes we allow it. but we say "off" and everyone is quiet and waiting for the door to open. having three large dogs rush at people would not be acceptable
  17. I never give anything made in China to my dogs........... We stick with bones..........My dogs get a bone almost everyday, they all have the most beautiful teeth and we have had no problems since 1979. beef spines cut up are our favourite. And our breeder starts giving pups brisket bones (mostly cartilage) from very early
  18. Mine love banana's, especially the horrible brown ones
