Showing Breeds In Different Groups?
Crazy Daisy replied to Crazy Daisy's topic in General Dog Discussion
Bummer The only other small dog in group 3 are cockers and I don't really want one of those. Maybe we will have to just do one breed one weekend and another breed another weekend. I can't give up the socialising as that's the best part for me. :D Actually that is a good idea, then I can still have my child free show weekends. Looks like two different groups may work out. -
I only have to say the word 'dog show' and all three of my dogs run to the garage spinning in circles wanting to be the first on the table. Archer will jump on any table we walk past thinking he is going to get groomed

Hi all, My son is very excited that as of next year he can start junior handlers. The problem is he is quite petite and when he stacks up my goldens he puts one hand under their chin but can't reach their tails. They are also very strong and fast for him. My daughter will be 7 a the end of next year as well and can start junior handlers so we got talking about smaller breeds in another group that would suit them. We all seem to like breeds in groups other than group 3. This got me to thinking about the logistics of showing a breed in another group. At Durack we have groups 3, 5 and 6 in one area and the other groups in a totally different area. Do people showing in different groups find it difficult? Is it possible to show both breeds on the same day? Is it stressful having to watch two rings? I know junior handlers is normally on in the break but I would be interested in showing the dog as well. Thanks

The only difference I can see between the QLD ones and the NSW ones is that QLD asks for your email address.

I think it means the area code of your phone number. It is referring to the ^ symbol next to phone.

I've just entered.

Well done. Do you have a photo from the day?

I've had some of my best times showing when it is pouring rain. My Goldens love nothing better than sloshing around in the mud. A quick towel dry and a brush and dirt just falls off. My friends and I have had competitions of who could stay upright running around the ring. Having said that I get asked now if I'm coming to away shows where we camp, because every time I come it pours.

Yay, he's arrived!! I hope your first night was peaceful :D

Tethering Dogs In The Rear Of A Wagon.
Crazy Daisy replied to Bundyburger's topic in General Dog Discussion
I have my two Goldens on a flat collar with their leads tied to the tether points but for my Shih Tzu (who doesn't lie nice and still) I have her in a harness with the lead a bit shorter. She can still sit up and look out the window and turn around but not reach the back seats and try and hang herself by jumping over the seat! -
It should darken up in the warmer months. I think I read in the last thread on here that it has something to do with less sun in the winter months. My retrievers went dark for a couple of months but is getting better now.

Pick Up After Your Dogs Show People!
Crazy Daisy replied to woodbyne's topic in General Dog Discussion
I hate that! I had the corner of my crate just sticking past the edge of my gazebo one time and a lady let her dog cocked his leg on it. All she said was "Sorry, it's a boy thing" No it's not! It's a stupid owner thing! -
I love how the dogs look so proud of their handiwork.

I was looking at getting a Tibbie before I got another Golden. I met lots of them at dog shows and loved everyone I saw. They are lovely little dogs. I have a 7, 5 and nearly 3 year old and the tibbies were great with them. In the end I couldn't go past having another golden.

We had a Boston Terrier who could scale a 6 foot straight up cliff no hassle at all. I would take my GSD x Kelpie and our Golden hiking and Jemica would out run us all. She was a goat and would happily jump from rock to rock and was completely fearless about running around a blind corner and jumping off a ledge not knowing what was beneath it. We had to have her on a lead for new tracks as she would get so excited running around I was scared she would hurt herself, but she never did. I know my Shih Tzu is no good, we get 5 mins in the bush behind our place and she turns around to go home She can't handle gaps in the rocks as her body is long and her legs are short.

Boarding Kennels And Dog Parks Brisbane Area
Crazy Daisy replied to a topic in General Dog Discussion
The only dog park I know of that has separate areas is the one on Middle Road, Boronia Heights (I think?). It has a small dog and big dog section. -
I know in Goldens their noses can go lighter in winter. Archer is 13 months old and from about 10-12 months his nose went lighter, it is now darkening up again. Don't really know why as nothing was different over those two months

Wow, that's a huge job to steal those gates! The caretaker doesn't live too far away from the front entrance, I wonder if they checked they weren't at home or else they would have had to be very quiet. And the gates are just off a very busy road?? I can't believe that no-one would have stopped them. It will be fun at the show tomorrow to hear all the theories.

My GR's all love soft toys. They love to carry them around in their mouth. They don't mind if they squeak or not or what size they are.

I bought Daisy (Shih Tzu) for $750 as a potential show puppy on main register. She will be 6 in September so I don't know if the price has changed.

Opinions On Experience Before Breeding Dogs
Crazy Daisy replied to tobie's topic in General Dog Discussion
That is an excellent post SoL. Thank you. I am interested in maybe breeding in a few years so this is all very interesting. I think the best advice I have been given so far is 'you can't keep everything'. It is a very hard thing to do but if a dog doesn't work out, for any reason, it is better to find them a loving pet home than to breed from them and start your breeding program off badly.
