Urgent Help Required For Puppy With Parvo
Crazy Daisy replied to bella_bear's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Yes it is a horrible horrible thing. About 15 years ago I worked in a pet shop (yes, don't flog me. I have reformed) We had many cases of parvo over the two years I was there and the best and only thing the vet could do was keep the puppies on fluids until they had been fine for at least 48 hours. Many did seem to get better before they got worse. Most pulled through but it doesn't have a quick fix. Lets hope you got your puppy to the vet quick enough. Just keep on top of your vet and insist they keep up the fluids. Make sure you also speak to your vet about disinfecting your house and everywhere the puppy has been (like car etc) I don't know what the vets use now but I'm sure they can recommend something. Also remember not to have any dogs over that haven't been vaccinated. My fingers are crossed for you and I really hope your puppy pulls through. -

Clipping The Designer Dogs
Crazy Daisy replied to alpha bet's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
In 12 years of grooming I have called the council rangers twice to come and collect a neglect case. I should have done it more. In both cases I called the owner to say I was reporting them and in both times the owner said they didn't want the dog back and I rehomed them. I agree that with experience comes the "I just can't take it anymore" attitude. I was in tears every second day with how people treat their animals. I am always happy to explain to new dog owners how to manage a dogs coat but it's the repeat offenders that really make me mad. I made all my clients sign a contract when they came to me and part of that is I will do what I see fit to make the dog feel comfortable. I never shaved for shaving sake. Dogs that were happy to put up with the pulling got 1/2 hr of dematting anything more than that is cruel. It's not the dogs fault they are in that mess. Clip them off, educate the owners and start again. Always take photos before, during and after!!! If you can, have a contract for people to sign. It cost me $100 for a lawyer to draft me one, only one page and easy to read. I would love to do a sign up of before and after shots of DD's and give it to all the young people working in pet shops so they can tell the new prospective owners what they will have to deal with. I'm sure a lot of the staff don't know the problems of these little fluff balls they are selling. My rant over -
They look like the best of friends. I love when the white one lays down in the snow you can hardly see him!!

December Photo Challenge - Launched!
Crazy Daisy replied to Ashanali's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
Oh my God Rocco, your photos are great. Your Ralph is the one who has inspired me to look into the Dachshund breed. He is gorgeous. I hope we get to see many more photos of your two this month. -
Thanks Lizandel. We spend a lot of time outside so they will get plenty of excercise with us!!
-
I'm concerned about their spine. We don't have stairs but are on acerage and it is quite uneven and hilly in areas. Do you think they are prone to run and not look and hurt themselves? I have heard that they can be aloof with strangers? We have three kids under 6 who like to have friends over. I never leave the kids unattended with our current dogs but will they be overly snappy and yappy with strange kids?
-
I think they are still popular but not as popular as poodle x's since people became brainwashed that crossing any dog with a poodle gives you an allergy free dog.

So if I don't use the flash I should get one without green eyes? Although it is really fitting, she is a jealous little thing.
-
Oh I also took one of Ruff with his dummy in his mouth. He has eaten the ring at the end. I took it from the bathroom window as everytime I go outside he drops it.
-
I took this one of Daisy the other day, but all of my photos of her she has green eyes? Is it just that the flash is on?
-
It's probably the most common mix of dogs that I groom. I have heaps on my clients list, and for the most part they are nice little dogs. Of course, in my biased opinion that is the Shih Tzu coming through, if they ever snap then I blame that on the Maltese parentage
-
They're a crossbreed. What is wrong with a pure Shih Tzu??? I have one and she is brilliant. I would have many more over a cross any day.

Hahahahahahah That is the BEST shot I have seen for ages Dieseldog. Got to love those sharpei muzzles!!

Yeah, get back in line Ceilidh! .... cant ya see how busy Poddlefan is! I'm hoping if we harrass her enough she will sell us one of her pups. Isn't that how it works?? Bombard with emails till the breeder gives in?
-
My friend has just got one of these but I'm not into cats. Can you make me a dog version?
-
Dear Deshoko kennels, I can't decide on a breed and were hoping you could help me. I have looked at your website and like too many of your dogs, can you mix a couple together and make me something really spesh? I really want one with a cool name that no one else has so I can be cool at the dog park and talk about my amazing new designer dog with no health problems. You better throw in some poodle as I want the name to have oodle at the end. I don't really care what it's crossed with as long as the name sounds like a pure bread. Thanks
