  1. She is so pretty SBT123. I love how you've captured the shine on her coat.
  2. So you think it is ok to bring food into dog parks but not squeaky toys? If dog owners are expected to call their dogs away from food, shouldn't they be able to call them away from toys as well? Food is something you control and normally a reward that is given and eaten right then and there. Not something that is thrown away from you and into a mix of dogs that you have no idea of their drive. And I did say it should be Ok but that I won't bring food into an off lead dog park anymore due to past experiences. I don't expect anyone elses dog to do anything. I have a certain level of behaviour I expect from my own dogs but I can't be certain of how other owners have trained their own dogs in a public park, so why take the risk?
  3. Yes, that's my Shih Tzu Daisy when she's in her longer winter coat and after a blow dry. Here's one of her from last week when I clip her a lot shorter for summer.
  4. I'd say GSD x Lab too. The mal x's I've seen have a lot more volume in their coat. Especially around the ruff of the neck.
  5. I'm with Poocow. If I go to a dog park (very rarely) I don't normally take the treats with me. I've had a bad experience with doing a recall and rewarding my dog only to have some idiots dog run and jump at my hand for the food. Didn't get me but was bloody close. I know you should be OK to treat train your dog when your there but it really is a risk to you and your dog. I am also frustrated with people that bring squeaky toys and balls and then yell at everyone when they throw the ball and then there is a fight over the toy. It is just asking for trouble. Leave it for home or if your the only one there. Some of the many reasons I get frustrated with dog parks, especially the tiny ones we have near us.
  6. I haven't had a chance to play with the bunny today on a black background. So I went to my trusting smiley dog Ruff. He's so handsome.
  7. Thanks for the tip. I will give that a go today. I never really think too well about the background as long as it's a plain colour but it does make sense that the colours would stand out more. Thanks
  8. I love your doll Two Spirit. You have inspired me to put up a photo of my beautiful Bunny from "Katherine's Collection". I paid quite a bit of money for him and he is a collectable. You should have seen the look I got from my OH when I told him how much I paid for a "doll".
  9. Why don't you ask them exactly what they like about a cocker x poodle? And why they don't want the purebred version of either breed. There has to be reasons for them not liking the purebred versions. If it's just a haircut then google some photos or show them ones on here (I love that white standard in the terrier clip). Personally I love cocker spaniels and I had a beautiful gold one named Bonnie when I was growing up. Here is a photo of an american cocker with his hair grown out.
  10. We went to North Stradbroke Island today. I was a beautiful day. I couldn't choose just one Straddie A great walk we went on And Layla crashed out.
  11. The main one I keep forgetting and have to remind myself about with each puppy I get is that adolescents is a stage. After each dog passes I look back and think they were brilliant all the time until my OH reminds me about all the times when they were younger when they pulled clothes off the line, stole and ate clothes, dug huge holes to China etc. But they all grew out of it. I don't stress about it as much and realise that it is just a stage and I have to be persistant with my training and they will grow up to be great members of the family for many years to come.
  12. Having been a groomer for 12 years I can tell you that "spoodles" and "cavoodles" NEVER have the same coat type. Some cute fluffy puppies end up with horribly sparse patchy fur. Some of them never grow hair on their muzzle and will end up looking like a cocker with a shaved face. Normally the one comment I had from DD owners was they didn't like the shaved face of the poodle or pure cocker. This is easily fixed, don't get the groomer to shave their faces. They can have a pure bred cocker and let it grow out in a teddy bear clip. Most people end up getting their DD shaved off anyway then it just looks like a shaved cocker or a shaved poodle, why not start out with a purebred then? Good Luck
  13. I miss grooming standard poodles!! They are so rewarding after a great blowdry. Great photos.
  14. I'll join too. I'm slack, I go to the gym most days and then come home and think "I've already done my exercise for the day". So I shut the front gate and let the dogs have a run around the acre. I know they need stimulation and to go to more places than around the block or dog training. I did take Ruff and Daisy for an hour walk yesterday but after 45mins I had to carry Daisy home up a large hill as she was pooped. So I vow to work on her fitness and get rid of the few extra pounds that have crept on her.
  15. Wow, that is one good looking dog!!! Happy Birthday Sexy Rexy.
  16. I like that lines from the wood, so is it out the back or somewhere else? Out the back. We're on 1 1/2 acres and I am still burning the 12 trees we had chopped down in June 09. It is about 6 x 6m in size, so it's going to be a great fire once I can get it going.
  17. Do you have to have a yahoo account to join Flickr? I really don't want another email as I have four already.
  18. I'm very upset. My camera broke today. It's a common fault with the Kodaks. Oh well back to my crappy Olympus until I can save for a good one. Here is a shot I took before it broke. My bonfire It has been sitting there for over a week, hopefully it will dry out soon so I can light it. Bring on the marshmellows.
  19. Yes it does sounds like that. I'm not sure about that. When I was looking at papillon pups at PP here in NSW they wouldn't reveal the source of the pups, assuring me that they came from breeders that they had checked. They want to protect their sources so customers don't go straight to the breeder. If you get to see the parents papers you would know where they come from...which I think could be against the chain's policy. That's because they came from a puppy farm... Not nessecarily. I worked at a PP 10 years ago and a registered breeder was going away and couldn't find homes for two of her puppies and asked us to sell them. She showed us copies of the parents papers and photos. We never got/gave out copies of the parents papers though.
  20. I love everyones photos. This thread is great. I think my OH is under the impression I've gone mad. Every now and then I get inspired and say "Oh" and jump up and run and get the camera and bolt outside or to another room in the house or pull out everything out in my pantry. Keep them coming, I'm determined to pull off a great shot by the end of the month and you guys are so inspiring.
  21. That is so lovely. Buddy has a new girlfriend Congratulations on your new little girl. I love it when dogs just click.
  22. I've never had a problem with Petedge. I've spent thousands over the years buying things for my grooming salons. If something isn't in stock they let me know and then post it free of charge when it comes in. The best thing when buying from OS is to get a recommendation for good sites like the OP is doing. There are some things you can't bring in because they don't pass Aus standards, like food and some pet medicine. Also be aware that it normally comes repackaged if coming from a dog site as the sniffer dogs will target it most times. Happens all the time when I used to buy dog bows from one lady in the US.
  23. In a way I can understand how this person feels. A friend of mine also "did all the right things", registered breeder ect only to end up with a dog that has cost them a fortune in the first year - no amount of talk will convince her to get a pedigree dog ever again. I can think of a few crossbred owners that might change her mind for her. I'd be one. I've owned three crossbreeds and have had nothing but health problems with all of them. I know there are great crossbreeds out there and mine had/have the most beautiful personalities but their unknown inherited health problems have ended up costing me lots of money and heartache over the years. You really take a gamble with any dog but I think you can narrow down the possibility for heartache with a bit of research.
  24. Oh My God that photo of Ralph with the duck mask on is priceless
