I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your dog Rozzie. Horrible news to come home too. -

I thought you just had to tell council if you were having another dog on a casual basis. For Logan council I'm pretty sure it's ok if it's less than 3 months.

Western Sydney Church Selling Dd's

I think your right Fifi. There probably aren't any large kennels of dogs to make it look like a backyard breeder. They are probably breeding them in their homes so they can say they have been home reared. I don't know the conditions of the dogs and how they are being homed. I'm concerned that this is being done for profit and was hoping someone else had heard of it and could give a few more reasons why they would think this is acceptable. Most of us that have been on this forum for long enough will know that done correctly breeding dogs does not turn a large profit, if at all. -

From what I could gather they give the bitches to other parishioners to raise until they are old enough to be bred from and then sell the puppies from the litters. I really felt too sick to ask too many questions. Sometimes the more questions you ask the more interested you seem and the more people take it that you are condoning what is being done. I was more interested in getting across why I thought it was wrong. -

Well, I went to Sydney and kept forgetting my camera at home!! I have a memory like a sieve sometimes. Anyway here are two of my little girl and one of my mum's chilli plant which I love. Any hints how I can get rid of the background in Lightroom? -

I don't really want to name the church. I'll leave today tonight to name and shame (but let's say I believe it should be called a cult not a church) I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks this is wrong and am over-reacting. -

I think these people are just a bit misguided in the way they go about this. There are plenty of other ways to raise money without it being at the expense of another living creature. I think a well drafted letter to their pastor is in order. -

But I don't know who they're selling them too. If they just want profits who's to say they are just not selling them out of the back of a van at a local market or school yard? It's the fact that they are looking at it from a profit point of view that really gets me. -

This is the part that bugs me the most. The reason they are breeding x breeds is they believe they get the higher price. -
Hi all, I just got back from Sydney and something I heard is really bugging me. My Aunty is part of a christian church in western Sydney and we were talking about dogs and I mentioned we were getting a new puppy in a couple of months. She said "Our church is now breeding puppies." Me "What!!!" Aunty " Yes, they are maltese X ummmm I think Shih Tzu. They're really cute" Me "Why are they breeding cross breeds?" Aunty " Because they are easy to sell and they get really good money for them. And they are so cute and fluffy" Me "Who breeds them?" Aunty "I don't know exactly how it started but we had the first litter and then all the females went to member's of the church and when they were old enough they bred them and then sell the puppies." Ok, by this stage I am feeling physically sick. My aunty isn't involved in the breeding of these dogs but she condones it and said it was a great way to raise money. Argggh. She asked me why I thought it was so bad and I think I did a pretty good job of telling her why I would only buy purebreds or adopt pound dogs. I talked about health testing and breeding for temperment, etc. Talking to people from this church group is like talking to yourself, but I really am upset by this (shaking as I type) but what else can I do??? Thanks

Well I'm off to Sydney for a couple of days and I'm staying with my Grandma who doesn't own a computer So I am going to have to fail this challenge. And I've been so good at making sure I post at least one a day. Hopefully I will have lots of good ones to show you when I get back. I'm not leaving on a high note. Here's a photo of a green tree frog that sits on my doorstep every night waiting for the sensor light and all the bugs that comes with it. -

I love seeing old houses SBT. I'm in a new estate and I really miss all the old buildings where I used to live in Sydney. They have such character. -

Thanks Tlc, they are the before shots. Before they decided to become theives. Daisy stole a red plastic thingy that goes on the cubby house and chewed it up in 2 minutes and Ruff took a huge stick out of my bonfire pile. Don't know why I bother cleaning up the yard with Ruff around. Caught in the act. -

I have two today. Not great quality but I couldn't get the dogs to come out of the shade Daisy hiding in the kids cubby house. And Ruff and Daisy under the trampoline. Ruff is such a boof head, he kept standing up and getting jumped on by my son. -
Happy Birthday Poodlefan and Kendall.

Your ant photos aren't as gross as mine SB I love watching ice melt JS, it is so cool how the bottom flattens and spreads out while the top stays solid. OK I've watched my fair share of ice melt on different surfaces. I love your clock Shell, it is so pretty. -

I got lightroom today but haven't had a play with it yet. maybe tomorrow. I also do not want to miss a photo a day I took the camera out while I fed the chickens and within 20 seconds they scraps had been convered in ants. Yuck. I'm lucky my big one likes to eat them. Sorry I know it's gross -
I recently was looking at JRT's as well. They are an amazing breed. My main concern was we live on acerage and have a lot of cane toads, snakes, monitor lizards etc and they are a hunting breed that will seek out these nasties which can have devastating consequences. We were at a dog show last month and one little girl fell asleep in my 4 year olds arms while she patted her. So they are definately up for a cuddle. Also being a small dog and a bit of an escape artist you have to make sure you have small dog proof fencing. That's all I can help you with, like I said I haven;t owned them but would love to one day.

Wow, thanks for that. It is only about 45 mins from my place and I have been looking for somewhere to take the dogs that's close enough that if I've had enough I can go home quickly. I'm only new to camping I lasted one night last time and left OH and the kids at the camp ground for another three nights.
