Are Our Breeds Changing As Our Needs Are Changing?
Crazy Daisy replied to RufusTheDoofus's topic in General Dog Discussion
With either of these cases, a Lhasa Apso or a Havanese are perfect purebred alternatives. :D Sure Hav availability is low but no excuses when it comes to Lhasas. I totally agree. A lot of people love my Shih Tzu but don't like her squishy face. I say easy, go and have a look at a Lhasa. They are robust, come in lots of colours, don't shed. The ones I've met have been similar to my Daisy, a big dog in a small package. I don't know much about Hav's so I can't comment on them. But I would much rather tell someone to enquire about either of these purebreds before suggesting a Shih Tzu x or an oodle. -
To All You Fellow Dog Owners - Do You Also Own A Cat?
Crazy Daisy replied to Abigail's topic in General Dog Discussion
I have an 8 year old pure white DSH named Angel but has been renamed Mao since my eldest son learnt to talk :D . He used to come to my grooming salon with me and none of the dogs ever hassled him as they seemed to know he was boss. He loved my old Golden Ronin and since he passed away a couple of years ago he has never been the same, bit aloof. Although he does tolerate my Shih Tzu Daisy he is not a fan of the other two big dogs and will run and hide when he sees them. -
Are Our Breeds Changing As Our Needs Are Changing?

I agree with this totally. It is much easier to go to a pet shop and grab a puppy on the spot then it is to research a breed, find a breeder and be prepared to wait for the right puppy to come along. I know this is not a pet shop debate but I think if you got rid of the easily accessible fluffy x breeds out of pet shops you would probably find there would be much fewer of them around. -
A Golden Retriever.

How exciting for you. I have been waiting for the right puppy for aaaaaaages (well it seems that way) and I would find it really hard if a puppy came along right now that was perfect for us. I heard last week that the bitch from the litter I'm interested in is Pregnant, hopefully only three more weeks to go till their born. :D Then another 8-10 weeks till their ready to come home. You'll know if she is right for you. Good-Luck and drive safely.

I'd wait before having an unnecessary operation. If she's not desexed she'll come into season sometime

Your Favourite "doggie Stars"?
Crazy Daisy replied to lovemesideways's topic in General Dog Discussion
I loved the Saluki from Cats vs Dogs. She was soooo pretty. -
That is great news about Charlie. I hope he continues to get stronger and stronger.

I got my pick of the litter, main registered, health tested, show quality Shih Tzu from a breeder for $750 four and a half years ago. It would have cost me around $895 to have a malt x Shih Tzu from a pet shop Yes I did have to wait for her and I did have to fly her from Townsville to Brisbane but for me it was a no brainer, registered breeder all the way for me

Goldies Behaviour When Husband Comes Home?
Crazy Daisy replied to Snowball's topic in General Dog Discussion
Are you kidding? Is that the latest "ban" ??? So ..... "Baa Baa visual-impression-experienced-when-no-visible-light-reaches-the-eye sheep, have you any wool? ...... ". It's actually baa baa rainbow sheep now. Just another urban myth trotted out by those who constantly decry political correctness ... It's not an urban myth ;) I have three kids and this is what they started singing at daycare. I was singing baa baa black sheep and my son said they don't sing it that way it's baa baa rainbow sheep. Who knows if they are being politically correct or they just like to sing it differently. :D To us it's still just a song. -

Ideas For Ways To Bond More With My Dog
Crazy Daisy replied to FranVT's topic in General Dog Discussion
Ruff isn't very affectionate at all and I thought it was something I had done wrong too. One night I was sitting outside on the phone and he came and lay right at my feet. Something he never normally does. I had just finished my conversation but thought I would take advantage of him sitting with me so stayed there. I was being eaten by mozzies but still didn't want to disturb him 1/2 hour later and my OH came looking for me and as soon as he opened the door Ruff jumped up. OH "what are you doing out here there are heaps of mozzies?" ME " Cuddles training" OH "Oh, is that a dog thing?" (he has no idea) ME " Yep" -

Awwww poor little puggers. I would be upset if someone forced me to wear grey too. -
I'm loving all the puppy photos. There is nothing cuter.

Very tempting this week when they are on school holidays

I like the puppy stage but could easily send them away for their teenage stage. Having said that I have a 10 month old staying with me at the moment and he is just gorgeous. We will be getting another puppy around June so I am already mentally preparing myself. I don't know how people get a puppy on a whim. I need at least 6 months to psych myself up for it. Pretty much like having skin kids Ruffy on his first day home Little older Daisy

Grooming Advice Required
Crazy Daisy replied to muffinmclay's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
That won't work if the dog has dew claws also. Many people forget that these can cause heaps of problems like growing into the pad if not trimmed. They seem to get forgotten on fluffy dogs as they aren't seen all the time when the dogs hair is longer. -
Skin Problem Maybe Due To Our Yard?
Crazy Daisy replied to Zojambra's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I used to use blueo but found a good horse one. It's by Equinade and is called Showsilk - Glo-white shampoo. Don't use too much. I turned my Golden purple the first time I used it and had to wash him three times to get it all out. Because he is such a light cream it actually made him too white, so now I just use it on his feet, tummy and chest to stop that lovely red dirt stain he gets from lying in his favourite digging spot. -
I've never heard of cat poo poisoning. My dogs love going on a scavenger hunt to see where the cat has gone to the bathroom. It's disgusting when they find it and eat it, but I never thought it could be doing them harm. What are the signs of them being poisoned from it?

Great photo Erin. She looks gorgeous. Suppose you don't need show training after a weekend like that.

Kcc Park - Tampering With Dog Float
Crazy Daisy replied to Starkehre's topic in General Dog Discussion
Some kids I see at shows look so bored and are just slumped in a chair next to Mum or Dad waiting for it all to be over and then you see the ones running around between all the cars looking like they are up to no good. I'm with you Dyzney and really try to think people wouldn't stoop to that sort of stupidity. At least if you make it known what has happened and suggest it may have just been some bored kids then others may look out when they are walking around people's cars and trailers. Let's hope it doesn't happen again. -

Crazy Daisy replied to Starkehre's topic in General Dog Discussion
Wow Dyzney, lucky you checked. What is going on in someone's mind that they would do that? People baffle me sometimes. Do you think it could be kids just being bored at a show and looking for stuff to amuse themselves? I'd hope so, I'd hate to think an adult would be that stupid. -
Yay Erin and Abby!!! Well done. That is excellent news. Abby is such a special little girl and you are doing so well with her. I hope you enjoyed your time in Sydney.

Clipping My Keeshond Due To Infection

I hope it works for you. I'm not a fan of the rotating teeth combs, I much prefer a solid steel poodle comb.
