Advice Please...puppy Apparently Dead After Illness
Crazy Daisy replied to Rubric's topic in General Dog Discussion
I'm not a breeder and can't help with your question but maybe you might be better asking this question in the breeders forum? You might get more of a response from people who know what they're talking about. Sorry for the loss of your puppies. -

I've just logged on to see the horrible news about Magnus Jed, my prayers are with you today for your surgery. Be strong there are many people waiting to hear that your ok. Steve - Thank you so much for posting those photos. Just looking at those beautifully looked after Cavs and Chi Chi have made it more of a reality just how much Jed loved and looked after all her animals. Lets hope for better news today -
I changed from a paracord lead to a check chain and it made a world of difference. I also started using cooked kidneys only in the ring. Just saying the word makes me want to barf and last Sunday I wore a dress with no pockets and had to carry it in my bra Bra went in the bin as soon as I got home. But Freddy did keep his head up  Things we do for our dogs

FTPO - Damn I'm probably too late, but I'm going to Durack tonight for show training. If you could email me a copy of the poster I might be able to hand them out or put them up if I'm allowed to. I'll send you a PM as well. -
My Shih Tzu Daisy is the only one of my dogs that is scared of storms. We live down the road from an army base and she hates it when they are doing live fire and morters too. She also hates fireworks. If I know there is a storm coming I put her inside when I go out or if one comes up quickly (which happens all the time in QLD) I rush home to put her inside. Once inside I ignore her and make her sleep on one of the many mats in the house. Storms are the only time she sleeps next to my bed. Once the storm is over she is more than happy to go outside with the boys. She isn't too bad compared to my old Boston terrier who hated storms with a passion. She would start drooling and try and sit on my lap or claw at my legs if I was walking around. All she wanted to do was either be as close to me as possible or hiding in a cupboard. Once when I thought a possible storm was coming I locked her in the house and she broke through a glass window to get outside and then she went next door to the neighbours border collie and slept in his kennel with him. Don't know why she thought he would protect her and my shepherd x and golden wouldn't After that we had to give her medication as she was causing harm to herself. It was so terrifying to see her so distressed. Only my small dogs have had phobias of storms, none of my big guys ever worried about them. My last Golden I would have to drag inside by his collar when there was lightening as all he wanted to do was sit out in the pouring rain.

Just logged on and have seen that this horrible tragedy has happened to a great DOLer. I am so sorry for Jed's loss and wish her a very speedy recovery. My thoughts and prayers are with you tonight Jed and I hope your little babies find peace together. May all the tears that have been shed today help soothe some of your sorrow. Please get well soon. xoxoxoxoxo -
I don't think breeders should charge more for a show quality puppy. There is no guarantee that the puppy will turn out to be a good show dog. Breeders choose puppies on experience and personal preference on what they expect will turn into a good confirmation dog, but they don't know for sure. I think price is very subjective. I know if I want a certain dog from a certain breeder I would happily pay what the breeder thinks is fair, especially if it has been a planned litter with maybe imported semen and I really wanted those lines. Price comes down to what you personally are willing to pay. I don't like breeders that bag other breeders prices. If you don't feel comfortable then run a mile.

I'm glad you got your money back. I would be very upset if my dog was so ill and they were messing around with payment. I agree they should have taken the dog in with your daughter while you were fixing the fee out the front. $300 seems like a big amount, especially as the final bill was less. I don't know who you speak to. But am sorry you and your daughter have to go through this in such a hard time.

How long have you been trying to contact your regular groomer for? Maybe she's on holidays or something? I would keep trying her if she was good. I hate grooming sedated dogs most of the time it is not needed, but I have had dogs that have been so distressed the first couple of times they have been given a very light sedation. If you can't find your groomer maybe ring around and see if you can find another one who will be happy to try grooming without sedation. Even if you have to do half one day and finish the next.

What about putting the crates side by side and locking them both in. Reward good silent behaviour and ignore the noise? Then once she is content in her own crate next to Charlie then try moving them apart slowly? Then only a bit of wire is separating them. Just a suggestion. I have only just bought my first crate for shows and have never done crate training with my dogs.

I bought a 48" crate from all pet homes. I saw it at a local show and then went and picked it up from them (not through ebay). It is great. It has two doors, folds up easily, has a sturdy carry handle and a removable plastic tray. My Golden loves it and it works well for us. I give them a big thumbs up ETA: It is not powder coated. Other places I was looking at had powder rcoated ones for an extra $40 but I didn't bother.

I love that in the first photo Asha is sticking her tongue out like Charch in your avatar. They are turning into twins. And the one under the sheet with her paws crossed is hilarious. She looks so girly. Love your photos as always Bec
