Urgent - Bearded Collie Missing In Camira Brisbane
Crazy Daisy replied to bordacollies4me's topic in General Dog Discussion
Oh yay!! I'm so glad to hear that he has been found safe and sound. Was he found far from where he went missing? -
Shows are on rain, hail or shine :D . Although I'm glad I'm not showing this weekend as I hate showing in the rain. There is also the Queensland Kennel Council show at Durack next weekend. Sat 5th June and Sunday 6th. If you didn't want to slip around in the mud today.

I had to eventually make the same decision with our Boston Terrier X. She had always been scared of storms and we would race home to be with her or take the day off work to be with her. I even started working from home and it didn't make a difference. The older she got the worse she got. Her hearing was going as was her eye sight and she was breaking OUT of the house, through glass windows, trying to escape the thunder. She was heavily sedated and it didn't make a difference. She ended up at the vets many times with stitches from the insane things she would do to herself, including chewing her back leg till she was nearly at bone on the one occasion I wasn't at home. Storm scared dogs take up a huge amount of time and effort. Some just get worse and worse. By the age of 12 we had to say enough is enough. Not just for us but for her. PLease don't judge others decision unless you've walked in their shoes and had to live with it.

Urgent - Bearded Collie Missing In Camira Brisbane

It does say in the OP that they have ads on the radio as well as the papers. There is a big Fete today at St Augustine's College so it may be worth having someone down there handing out flyers if anyone has seen this dog? -
Dying A Dogs Coat Pink
Crazy Daisy replied to spoilt lab lives here's topic in General Dog Discussion
The sprays are good but they can rub off on other fabrics so you have to be careful. After Ronin was coloured and we had been at the event all day I just washed him in warm water and it all came out. It didn't leave a mark at all on his coat and he was a very light cream. I love my Shih Tzu's ears and tail and have never dyed them as they take too long to grow out. Here is a photo of some of the Pet Este colours. -
Introducing Myself And My Kelpies
Crazy Daisy replied to jazzygirl's topic in General Dog Discussion
What beautiful dogs you have! Welcome to DOL. My golden Freddy has a girlfriend who is a kelpie. Everytime he sees one he strains to go over and see if it's her. They are great dogs. Good Luck with the babies too. -
He still looks very cute. I love his jumper. I love that it's getting colder in Brisbane and I can get Daisy's wardrobe out.

Dying A Dogs Coat Pink
Crazy Daisy replied to spoilt lab lives here's topic in General Dog Discussion
I use the Pet Este dyes and they are great, but they are permanent and will have to grow out and on a lab that will take ages. The pink also fades to a funny orangey pink colour so maybe not a good look after a while. If you don't want it permanent I would just use coloured hair spray from the reject shop. I've used that on my golden before when raising money for the shave or colour for a cure. Now I've given you hints you'll have to post photos -
I have a Shih Tzu and a Golden Retriever. I chose the Shih Tzu as I love their squishy faces and beautiful temperament. They are a big dog in a small body, don't shed or smell and are very robust little dogs (If purchased from a good breeder). I tried to keep Daisy in her full coat but it was too much work as she loves to play in the mud, go to the beach and go bushwalking with us. She is much happier clipped off. She is obsessed with balls and will play fetch for hours. She really is the best little dog I could have asked for. We had our first retriever 11 years ago and after he passed away I thought I would never get another one as it would be too much to ask to have another perfect large dog. I was wrong, retrievers are great dogs. As soon as Freddy arrived I knew what my heart was missing and it was a retriever in the house. Sure the hair goes everywhere and they love to be dirty all the time but I wouldn't miss their smiling face and amazing cuddles for anything in the world. I think these are the two breeds I will always have at least one of in my house. They are very different but I wouldn't be without either one of them. And welcome to the forum

Thank God Dogs Doesn't Hold Grudges Because...
Crazy Daisy replied to W Sibs's topic in General Dog Discussion
I forget how many times I yell at the dogs to stop playing in the laundry and bashing themselves against the wall only to walk down the hall and see my kids are the ones making all the noise. I stood on the back verandah yesterday yelling and yelling for Daisy to come inside only to turn around and see her siting patiently right behind me looking up at me like I was an idiot. I have stepped on, run into, banged heads with and fallen over my dogs numerous times. I have a huge house and over an acre of land yet they are still always under my feet. I too will put up my hand for forgetting to feed the dogs, especially if I've been out and thought my OH had done it and then he thought I had fed them before I've left. Only to wake up in the morning and me ask "Did you feed the dogs last night?" " No, I thought you did it?" Whoops If they could only talk...... -
One Of My Worst Nightmares Has Happened.

I'm so sorry for your loss. R.I.P Phoebe -
I think membership is low because you don't really get much for your registration unless you are showing or trialling. When I bought my first main registered dog I became a member of CCCQ. We lasted two shows and my dog hated it and I had no idea what I was doing and no one to ask (breeder was no help). So after my years registration finished I didn't renew it. There was not much in the magazine that interested me and there were no other benefits as I wasn't showing anymore. Four years later, now that I have decided to try showing again with a different breed I am a member again. Only because I got another show dog did I become a member. I think there needs to be more benefits for people who don't show or trial. Although I don't know what that could be.

How To Tidy Up The Endless Supply Of Doggy Stuff ...
Crazy Daisy replied to Tilly's topic in General Dog Discussion
I have those huge plastic tubs on shelves in the garage. One for Jumpers and coats, grooming equipment, old and new collars and leads and toys. Then all the leads and collars are hung up on a men's tie holder. Then in the Kitchen in a top cupboard are all the medications. In the laundry is all their food, bowls, dog towels and blankets. In my Bedroom is the 'show bag' with everything in it that I take to a show so I know where it all is. My dogs have just as much stuff as my kids have and seem to have something in nearly every room. -
I missed this thread the first time too. Thanks for finding it Steve and bringing it back. I need Jed to come back, I love her posts. Get well soon Jed.

I love Tibetan Mastiffs!!! One day....... "sigh" -
Yep enter him in your name. Suggestion from Show sec, highlite your name and email them so that they change the database. Oh I didn't think of that, thanks I will do.
-
Wow, they are some beautiful collars. All the leather ones I've always bought have gone hard and cracked. Maybe the quality wasn't as good. Some of those look girly enough to put on my Shih Tzu
-
Thanks for that. The owner is in NSW. She is sending up the signed papers today so I should receive them in the next day or two. So I guess if I'm entering shows for the end of June then that would be fine to start putting them in my name as he will be transferred by then?
-
Does anyone know how long it takes to transfer papers into someone else's name? I'm only allowed to show Freddy for three months in his breeders name but as the right puppy still hasn't come along for me I have decided to keep him for longer and keep showing. My time runs out 14th June and I want to enter more shows but don't know if the rego papers will be changed in time if I start entering shows in my name now for the end of June. Thanks
