I hope you have had some good news this morning.

I've just ordered comfortis as my vet said I could split it between the dogs. I have a 10 kg Shih Tzu and a (currently 10kg) Golden puppy who will be vastly different sizes when grown. I bought the 18-27kg one from Ebay for $51.50 for six tablets which means it's just over $8 per month for flea control.

Ear Infection In 6 Month Old Puppy
Crazy Daisy replied to cj-b's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
If you have a dog with very hairy ears you need to pluck just enough that it can let air down in there. Dogs with floppy ears are a dark, hot breeding ground for bacteria so if you can at least have enough hair out that there is air going down then that should help. Over plucking is a definite no no. -
This Dog Should Win The Nobel Peace Prize!

I love when he licks the rabbit, then the guinea pig then looks at the cat, and it's like........"Eh, do it yourself" and then back to sleep -
I'm another one that had a bottle fed babe. I was really lucky that my breeder saw the fight in my little boys eyes and kept trying and trying to make him eat. He turned out to be the most handsome out of all the litter (maybe I'm a little biased ) and was normal size when fully grown. My love affair with Golden Retrievers and obedience was due to him. Some little angels are here for a reason. I know your little one is not out of the woods but you are doing a remarkable job. My best wishes for his continuing improvement.

Wow they sound like a great family to be so understanding about all her problems and to be happy to have play dates and not take her immediately. I say go with your gut instinct.

Is There A Limit On The Number Of Dogs I Can Own?
Crazy Daisy replied to Steve's topic in General Dog Discussion
Mine has 3 year rego with Logan. Beaudesert canned the 3 year deal - but Logan brought it back in. Not according to info on their website about the 2010/2011 budget. Here's the link http://www.logan.qld.gov.au/lcc/logan/news...trationfees.htm And this is the bit about it now being yearly As announced in last year's Budget, triennial registration will no longer be available to pet owners from July 1, 2010. -
Just a bit! But look -- https://www.oo.com.au/Collapsible_Pet_Trave...e_wi_P37263.cfm A floating head! :D Oh My God that's priceless.

After the amalgamation I am now in Logan Council and am really happy they have reduced the cost of registration for DogsQLD members now to $50 instead of $90 and desexed dogs down to $20 from $40. But you have to pay yearly, we can't pay for three years anymore. I wish we were able to do lifetime regos like NSW as well. -

I am on the Gold Coast and was granted a permit to have my four dogs and we have a quarter acre block. Have you applied to have your four where you currently live? I currently have two but I hate that I would have to buy a puppy first before they can give approval. I can't imagine saying to my three kids "Sorry the council says no to 'puppy' so we either have to sell our family home and move or take 'puppy' back to the breeder. It's such a horrible thought, but could happen. Daisy might just be our 2nd cat -
I'd be concerned they were going home at 7 weeks at all. How young would they have been when they were desesxed? If they are ready to go I would hope they had at least had their stitches removed and most vets leave them in for at least 10 days so they would have been 5 weeks when they were done? Too many questions.

If you check out the link I just posted have a look at the 1/2 shepherd Photo shopped or what?

I just got one of these from 00. https://www.oo.com.au/Collapsible_Pet_Trave...P37268C1591.cfm It folds up really small which is a bonus. The other one on top buy didn't fold up as small. I find my wire one too heavy and big to carry to shows. Can't wait for it to arrive. I have been wanting one for ages and thought I would treat myself

I'm glad it has all worked out. She looks great. Well done for asking for advice before it got really bad.

I like my Lawrence slicker as I find it not too hard. It doesn't bother Daisy even when she is in her very short summer clip.

Such a touching story. I hope they will be life long friends together. Well done

This is why I'm trying to convince OH to move to just over the border. I hate that now my council says that even though I have 1 1/2 acres I am only allowed two dogs. We bought this place because I could have four dogs and now they've gone and changed the rules. Off to look at NSW properties again -
Not at the moment................I am currently going through it all right now. This is Archer my new Golden Retriever puppy. He was 12 weeks on Saturday.

There should be no need to clip the coat. If there are any dreads that are way way too matted they could possibly be cut out with scissors (but I think you would have noticed them). It may be nicer to your dog if you get the groomer to do it in two sessions so she doesn't stress too much. Make sure once she is knot free that you brush her everytime before a bath. If you can get a poodle comb (metal comb with long teeth) this is the best way to make sure her back end stays tangle free. I hope all goes well.

Is She Pure Or What Does She Have In Her?
Crazy Daisy replied to Sunnyflower's topic in General Dog Discussion
Very sad you don't like the name Daisy I chose Daisy for my Shih Tzu as she was such a blond bimbo when she was a puppy and dukes of Hazard with Jessica Simpson had recently come out. Whatever name you call her and whatever breed she is, she is gorgeous. -
Thank you all for your help. I have now spoken with Dogs QLD and they said if I send in the transfer papers, limited registered agreement and a letter from the breeder asking him to be down graded then I only have to pay the one off transfer fee of $23. Thanks Ready Set Go, I didn't think about neuter classes. Thanks TeamSnag, I can sign the pedigree papers as he is currently in my name. I just needed a letter from the breeder to down grade him. Thanks again

Where do I get the limited register agreement from? Can I download it from their website?

I have been showing and looking after a beautiful Golden who is now going to a pet home. Rather than him going on a long trip back to his breeder in Sydney she found a great family down the road in Brisbane. Now what do I do with his papers? He has been transferred into my name so I could show him so is currently registered with Dogs Qld. Do I need to fill out the new owners details on the back and write somewhere that he has gone to a pet home? Do I have to pay the transfer fee again to put the dog in the new owners name? Thanks

A Good Enough Reason Not To Feed Dogs A Commercial Diet ?
Crazy Daisy replied to Moselle's topic in General Dog Discussion
+1 Orbit has only ever had his puppy vaccines and minimal flea treatments etc and is on a raw diet. Yet he's still very allergic. Yes, he gets cortisone and other immune drugs, but only because they are the only thing that bring him relief. To say this is an absolute 'no no'?! How can you say this about a drug which provides comfort and quality of life for an animal? The RAW vs Kibble will always be an ongoing argument, but I think the subject is like religion - do your own research and make your own decision, but don't preach to other people. Not all dogs will do well on raw. Those who improved on raw were not 'cured' of their allergy, but merely relieved of their symptoms when the culprit allergen was no longer being fed in the dry food, eg a grain, storage mites etc. I know of one particular dog who was fed a raw diet all her life, only puppy vacc'd, never given oral treatments/chemicals/drugs, yet died at 2yo from cancer. My own family Golden Retriever was fed supermarket dry most of her life, had cortisone for flea allergy dermatitis here and there, vaccinated at times yet lived till till she was 16yo and was only pts because of joint disease. Dogs are all different - like people. Their digestive systems function the same but are not all the same, as with their bodies. If one dog thrives being fed a raw diet, then that's great, but I don't think it's fair to tell people something what they're doing is 'not the best' for their dog. x2 I've done it all with an allergy prone dog and really you have to do what's best for your individual dog, what you can afford financially and what you have the time for. -
Does anyone know if the order they post on Dogs Queenslands website is the order they run the judging in? Goldens are listed at number 8, will they still be half way through the day?
