Breeders Please Be Aware Of Bitsa Dna
Crazy Daisy replied to royalla's topic in General Dog Discussion
You should have sent them back a photo and seen what they said ;) -
Hi, We have a mozzie problem and they are driving me mad. I have found an ultrasonic mosquito repeller that I thought would be better than using a spray all the time. I'm worried about it affecting the dogs. Has anyone used an ultrasonic device in the house when you have pets?

I love the first photo. What a great job your hubby did on the cart! -

Rare Or Disqualifed Colours In Breeds.
Crazy Daisy replied to poodlefan's topic in General Dog Discussion
Maybe I just don't know what to look for but I can't see a difference? -
Have you moved from a smaller place? When my friend moved to acreage after a 600m2 suburban block her border collie went nuts trying to protect such a large area. Also, at the old place he had solid wood fences but with post and wire fencing on acreage he can see everything and was getting very over stimulated. They ended up building a dog run with a solid side facing the street for when they were out and got a containment system for when they were home. I agree that talking to a good behaviourist would be beneficial.

Looking For Some Advise On Right Type Of Dog
Crazy Daisy replied to adogisforlife's topic in General Dog Discussion
When a poodle is clipped off they are so easy to look after coat wise. I don't know if I would call them minimum grooming requirement though. I also like the recommendation of a Brittany. Nice size, friendly, easy care coat. -
I hope they get returned soon.

It's not just the burrs and grass seeds I worry about being on acerage, it's the ticks. We have kangaroos, rabbits, possums and birds and heaps of ticks. You have to be extra vigilant after a romp away from the house and go over every inch of them. I have a shih Tzu and have the ability to keep her short, much easier than a spitz breed.
-
I love the one with the Jack Russell saying "Please??"
-
I much prefer shorter walks and more often, especially when the humidity here in Brisbane kicks in. My Shih Tzu can't handle long walks and my Golden is still too young for long ones.

Their coat depends on their breeding too. Some Goldens have more coat than others, some just take longer to arrive Here is a photo of my boy from the weekend. I know it's a bit far away but you can see he is only starting to get his feathering and he just turned 6 months last week. He also has a very thick coat so some Goldens at his age wouldn't even have as much as him. Excuse his tail and my raincoat, it was pouring on the weekend.

I use comfortis after many, many months with a flea problem. It took about two months to work and I have never seen a flea on my dogs since. It has been brilliant
-
Those are some great photos, I wish you had come down to group 3. I need some good photos of my Golden.

That poor poor puppy. I would have definitely left the ring and had some choice words to say to that judge
-
Awww he's gorgeous. Good Luck with him.

Honey Has Been With Us For One Whole Year!
Crazy Daisy replied to dee lee's topic in General Dog Discussion
She is beautiful, congratulations. What a special family she has found with you. -
It takes some dogs a while to adjust to a new home. Be a kind neighbour and let them know that their dog is barking. If it's only barking when they aren't there they probably don't know it's happening.

After 13 years as a dog groomer I could be here for hours I have only been badly bitten a couple of times and they were from poor dogs who have a severe phobia of being groomed. Most of my injuries were caused by scratches. The worst was a Shepherd who thought it would be fun to jump on my back after I had been siting down on the ground cutting his nails. His claws went through my grooming cape and my shirt. There was blood everywhere and I had some wicked nail marks down my back for over a month. Needless to say my OH questioned me a lot that night about what I got up to at work :D
