Storm Phobias- At What Point Do You Consider It A Problem?
Crazy Daisy replied to Cosmolo's topic in General Dog Discussion
My Boston X was always phobic of storms but used to just hide in our closet and pant until it was over. As she got older she got worse, much worse. One day she jumped through a glass window to get OUT of the house, she was cut very badly right next to her eye and it took us hours to find her. We found her hidden in the neighbours yard in their Border Collie's kennel. This became a habit, hurting herself trying to escape, with medication she was only slightly better. Eventually we had to try and pre-empt a storm and make arrangements to either be home or have someone go to the house and stay with her. When they start self harming and storm season is ruling your life, that's when it's a problem. -

Dog Grooming Scholarship
Crazy Daisy replied to australian dog centr's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
You get back problems being a groomer too, but it is a great life long skill to have. Good Luck to the lucky person who gets accepted. -
I buy mine through ebay. It has been the cheapest place by far. Just check the expiry date with the seller.

Your Experience With Registered Breeders
Crazy Daisy replied to aussielover's topic in General Dog Discussion
I still need to receive emails for my business. I'm just saying that sometimes they can get lost in the pile and mistakes happen. If people are upset that a breeder hasn't returned an email maybe they should call them to follow up than whinge that they were ignored. -
Your Experience With Registered Breeders
Crazy Daisy replied to aussielover's topic in General Dog Discussion
After reading all the replies it seems Golden and Aussie breeders seem to be getting the best reviews. I wonder why that is? I personally believe a phone call is much better than an email, unless the breeder has stated otherwise. My friends that are breeders get so many enquiries everyday, one had over 100 in one day I don't think people should be offended that the're emails didn't get a reply. You don't know if they had already gone through 20 emails and yours was 21 when the phone rang and they got distracted and forgot where they were up to. I'm not saying I condone it but I understand how it happens. I used to get around 20 emails a day for my grooming salon with only "how much?" written in the subject line. I had a stock answer for that question that I could cut and paste but sometimes I would forget where I was up to and then get an angry email saying I never replied. I'm only human and a phone call is always nicer. I can say what I need to in 30 secs than spend 10 mins trying to compile an email response. -
Your Experience With Registered Breeders
Crazy Daisy replied to aussielover's topic in General Dog Discussion
Mostly my experience has been really positive. I don't do cold emails unless they specify on their website that that's the way they like to be contacted. I call them up, ask if this is a good time to have a chat about their breed and most have been really, really lovely. I have been showing for a year and there are some breeders I see that look really scary in the ring until I have phoned them and found that outside of the show ring they are truly lovely. :D I made a time to go to a show and meet people. Most showies know roughly when they're dogs will be on and will be able to give you a time that would be suitable to come over and have a chat. When I was looking for my first show dog, my Shih Tzu, I found some people were really lovely about my interests in showing and some it just turned off, so that can also make a difference when looking for a dog. -
That's great to hear. I hope your happy with this new vet. I only recently found a great vet that mostly looks after breeders and showies. She does a fantastic thorough check of my dogs and was a great first experience when Archer was having his puppy vaccs. Just because some vets are cheaper, doesn't mean they skip on their services. I say ring around and go and see some vets, there are some great ones out there that also charge reasonable prices.

Most Effective For Flea Treatment?!?
Crazy Daisy replied to rivergem's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Comfortis here too. I had a huge problem and spent heaps of money having the house and yard professionally sprayed, but nothing worked. Comfortis took about 2 months to work completely (not a flea in sight), but I will never go back now. -
She's lovely. Great photos too

Silver cars don't blind people. My Grandma has been driving her silver toyota corolla for 15 years and never had an accident. I would love to do mine a light silver with sky blue stripes like my car. I'm still looking for the perfect Golden retriever sticker to go on the side too

I totally agree with this. I too have been showing for a year and was very lucky to meet some really lovely people in my breed. I listen to all advice given. Free advice is priceless. At the end of the day I really love my dog. I know his faults and I know his strengths and I am happy he is the one I take home, win or lose. I decided to start showing as a hobby to meet new people, have adult time away from my three young children and be able to spend quality time with my dog. I think it's a great sport.

What's Wrong About Giving Dogs Human Names?
Crazy Daisy replied to W Sibs's topic in General Dog Discussion
There's nothing wrong with human names on animals. I have a Daisy, Archer and Angel (boy, I was a big buffy fan when he was a kitten). My son has two girl's called Angel and xena in his class. I personally wouldn't call my kids those names but I would never comment on it to their parents face. :D -
I was thinking of having mine sprayed too and was thinking a light silver would be nice. Not too hot a colour and would complement my car.
