Donations --asking For Help
rebelsquest replied to a topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
I'm not involved with rescue, but try and donate when I can. It is hard to know who is reputable, and there can be worry that my donation is not going to the animals. I think what you do is great, and would give me much confidence and peace of mind if donating to you . -
I disagree with this point. Not a dog but I had a car stolen one month after the policy was renewed and the insurance company paid out on the policy in full with no further payments required. If someone has life insurance and dies you do not have to continue paying the year out in order to claim. I think this is just a scam to try and get money from you. I would be asking the Dept of Fair Trading (Name varies from state to state) or get in touch with the insurance industry ombudsman. Did you pay the policy in full when it was renewed? The (car) insurance companies I have worked for, if you are paying monthly and your car is written off, the remaining monthly payments are taken out of your payout. I would expect in the OP's case, they would do the same. OP, was the policy renewal date in October? It will be somewhere in your paperwork that the policy has to be paid in full. I would ask them if they can just take the remaining monthly premiums out of any payment before they send it to you. Makes sense from a business point of view if you think about it, if the policy is renewed in October, you have only paid one months worth of premiums. I *think* (could be wrong), when I was looking at pet insurance, all the policies say that if you make a claim, and then wanted to change companies/cancel your policy etc, there is no refund on whatever part of the policy is remaining. If a claim hadn't been made, a refund would be owing (assuming policy paid in full up front).

The known show results, and a link to the show results, have been posted in this thread. Also, people can only post the results they know, less DOL people there (presumably due to the heat), less people to post results .

Congratulations on your BoB win Jbea, glad to hear you had a nice day. I agree with the people in this thread who have said that each person needs to make the decision that is right for both them and their dog/s. Some people live close by, they and their dogs cope well in the heat etc. and I can understand their reasoning for showing in the heat. I hate the heat, so had a nice day relaxing in air conditioned comfort :D.

Congratulations kirst_goldens!! Piccies? :D RallyValley Zora is beautiful

O yes it was, 44 degrees in Mentone where I work Gee narky much, obviously the heat gets to you !!!!!!!!!! You said it was 44 in Mentone, not where you live 10min from KCC. I have been using the 4 links I posted on page two. Please learn to read, i said it was still 44 degrees at home. Wow, rude much? Your original post said you work in Mentone and it was 44 degrees there, such a shame we are not all mindreaders and didn't know where you lived.

Have you reported the ad to Gumtree, as suggested by GG85? -
+1. If you have been reading this forum for the past two years, and were researching buying a dog for 6 months prior to purchasing this pup, I would have expected you would be more well aware of the pitfalls of backyard breeders, however the wording of your post leads me to believe you think BYBs are ok . This is somewhat irrelevant now, as you have already purchased your puppy from a pet shop, but please do some more research into pet shops and BYBs, as these are certainly not the best place to be sourcing a puppy from. I hope things work out for you and your dogs.

But you never have to prove it for entire. Exactly! Doesn't make any sense to me

The OP may not be in the position to take the dog, and what's to stop the owners then getting another dog and the cycle repeating itself. Also, my lease states I cannot hang washing on my balcony. I assume its all about maintaining the visual image of the area.

Something like this perhaps? http://www.dealsdirect.com.au/p/plush-pet-steps-30-5cm-35-5cm-46cm/ though it may be too small for your needs.

Go the Greyhounds!! Good to see them doing so well!

:D. I feel better now, I thought I was the only cynical one on here . OP, I agree with the advice everyone else has given. You need to have a good hard think about if you want another dog, and have time for another dog. If there is any doubt, I believe you need to return the pup, as it is not fair on ANY of you (two and four legged).

Rescue Lumping Breederswith Byb And Pet Shops
rebelsquest replied to Kavik's topic in General Dog Discussion
I think Kitt's post is very relevant and one that has been largely ignored in this thread. So what - that's the whole point. Some people especially breeders understand what pet quality means and that it isn't an inferior dog to any other dog in a litter they use it as a guide and they are not offended by it but unless you do know that and you have been exposed to it as breeders are then its possible - some would argue even probable that this is creating a negative view of purebred dog breeders and their dogs to the general public and as has been pointed out already it was one of the things used by you know who to tell the public they were only getting our dregs. No one is ordering anyone to change what they do its only a discussion about a potential issue which is good to talk about and consider especially as its not something that many breeders have considered before because they didn't know some people were offended by it. If its just here on this forum that's good but unless we do some research we wont know and if we don't we will simply bury our heads and says its not true. Its not about whether you need to market your pups its about a general perception of purebred dogs and their breeders. Where is the harm in considering it - what is it exactly we stand to loose if at the end of the day it turns out its better for our PR if we don't use it? Gawd, have you even read Kitt's post? She/he has posted, in their own words, as a member of the public, and they are not offended by the use of the term pet quality. The people in this thread complaining about the term pet quality don't seem to be general members of the public. I will again state that I have NEVER heard a breeder use the term pet quality in a way that sounds as if the pup is second class. No one in this thread has said they use the term in this manner. People in this thread are implying that breeders are looking down their noses and acting all snobby about the puppies that are "only" pet quality. However, there has been no evidence from the many breeders who have posted in this thread that any of them do this. This thread is getting out of hand and turning into what I see as an unnecessary argument about one of many terms that are used in the dog world. *Exits thread somewhat gracefully ;)* -

Rescue Lumping Breederswith Byb And Pet Shops
rebelsquest replied to Kavik's topic in General Dog Discussion
Most of the breeders I know would never say their puppies are "only" pet quality. If the prospective puppy buyer was asking if the puppy was suitable to show, they would say no due to xyz. They still make sure the puppy is the right fit for that particular family/person. The breeders I am lucky enough to have spent time with put a lot of love, time and effort into raising their puppies, and finding the right home for each puppy - pet only or pet + competition. They do not believe their puppies are less deserving or less important because they are pet quality. What other term do you want people to use? To imply breeders say, oh they're "only" pet quality, as if the dog is a failure, is a pretty poor indication of the breeders you must be speaking with to use such a casual attitude with their pet home puppies. -

I agree with this. Luckily our breed has no colour/marking disqualifications. SOundeness of body and mind is of the utmost importance Yes and whippets are in a great state compared to a lot of other breeds. What do you mean by this? Genuine question. -
