Getting Something Out Of The Skin?
harlosmummy replied to Teebs's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
can we see a picture? im Intrigued to see what it looks like -
my OH and Harlo the first day we got her. Oh trying to carry harlo at 6 months there the only ones i could find that kind of show comparison
-
that was me it was all just a shock as i'd never raised a puppy before!
-
Harlo does the same thing she runs all the way to the end of the yard or under the decking to eat her bone, i think they just like to enjoy it and have quiet time sometimes, such as when i have a bickie and coffee sometimes i will hide away from the dogs so i dont have to look at there begging faces!
-
yer its hard when OH doesnt help out with the duties, it causes so many arguements. before we got the pup me and my OH were just chilled out and could do whatever we wanted now its "oh if we go out where will harlo stay?" "did you feed her?" "should we get puppy insurance" wake up and take her out for once you selfish je*k haha the list goes on and on!
-
oh i know how you feel!!! when my OH and i first got Harlo we were sssoooo exhausted that after 3 days i left and went and stayed with my mum for a bit of peace and quiet for the night, and as soon as i got there i sat on the couch and cryed for 3 hours saying i couldnt do it, i think its just your so mentally tired and its all a shock and your not used to thinking about someone else 24/7 and catering to there every need but now Harlo is 7 months old and the other day my OH and I were talking about how we would love another puppy i then remembered how hard it was and tried to remind him and he said "well i dont mind getting up in the middle of the night, its not that much of a big deal"! was the first time! when i was up with her every hour! dont worry by time there 5 months it gets easier, still one of the hardest most rewarding things ive done though! and looking at there beautiful faces and knowing how much they love you for it makes it a whole lot easier!
-
maybe he wants to come in the house then? my dog barks and howls when shes outside and can see us around inside, because when there puppies they just want to be with you ALL the time
-
does he need to go to the toilet i know that my puppy would wake up whinging because she wanted to go out?
-

OMGG shes is so beautiful!! more pictures! they are the cutest puppies with beautiful colourings, i can imagine they would be alot of work though! thats good that shes 3 dry nights not much longer now. Harlo is getting her desexing stitches out tomorrow thank god the last 2 weeks trying to keep her contained have seen broken blinds, broken dog kennels, poo flinged all over the house, and her learnign how to scream haha here are some pictures of her, i think she looks like an Amstaff even though shes supposed to be a bull terrier cross boxer Harlo about to jump on the couch when shes not allowed!

hows everything going raffikki? any cute new pictures :D
-
dont worry about it to much, its probably just all the stress from her having to be crated and learning new behaviors and perhaps weeing helps the vaginitis feel better because apparently urine is an antiseptic. for now just do what your doing stick it out, it would only be another week now yes? and then once shes out of the crate and things are back to normal if theres still a problem deal with it then. :D
-
raffikki i was thinking about this last night (sad i know) haha and i thought what do you do with her after shes peed in the crate, does she get to come out? she could be peeing in the crate on purpose because she relises she gets to be let out of it when she pees in there?
-
yer just buy the normal fake grass and you can just pick up the poo or hose it down. dont want to spend $300-$500 if he decideds he doesnt want to use it. you can get the fake grass from bunnings, i remember seeing it the other day
-
maybe he likes the feel of the grass to do his business, perhaps you could get some fake grass and put it out on the balcony, and after meals and playtime put him on the grass and say "go wees" or something like that if you keep him on there he will eventually go it may take 20 mins or something the first time but after he wees on the grass and you congratulate him he will eventually get the hint. also when out walking and he goes to the toilet say the word "go wees" or alternative whilst he is doing his business he will eventually assosiate this word with going to the toilet
-
Does he have somewhere to poop, like newspaper or puppy pads? or do you only give him a chance to poop on your walks?
-
arghhhhhh raffikki irony is a funny thing! harlo tore her stitches at the vet the other day after her operation she now has to be contained for 2 weeks and shes not crate trained! help!!!
-
leave him in the laundry during the day and crate at night?
-
oh yes the joys! our little boxer x puppy did the exact same thing we set everything up for her in the laundry but she kept jumping over the gate etc! she would SCREAM the house down and wouldnt stop ALL night. we gave in and let her sleep in a box that she couldnt get out of in our room, we said it would just be for the first week but guess whos got her own little bed in our room now! :D Crating and keeping somewhere warm in the house is a good idea. If he still crys being away from you start him of in your bedroom and slowly move him out...He'll need to be somewhere close so you can hear him if he wakes up during the night and wants to go to the bathroom. how long have you had him? perhaps hes still getting used to being away from his littermates. p.s. dont give him the run of the house you'll wake up to lots of little messes EVERYWHERE!
-
oh you poor thing i wish i had some ideas to help, but theres not much you can do. my girl is going in this thursday to be desexed and im already stressing how im going to keep her calm for 3 days, whilst stitches heal! first thing that came to mind though is that rescue remedy can be used for humans too good luck and hopefully when shes better and running about soon it will all be a distant memory!
-
oh you poor thing its really tough when they wont stop crying the first couple days i got Harlo she just constantly cried and screamed, she would just follow me around crying and then i was so exhausted i would end up crying and we would both sit togther and cry, the pathetic things we were! it will get better, they are just getting used to a different routine. stick it out another 3 days and it should all be ok. just try and keep rhino distracted with kongs etc.
-
sorry, that didnt come out right i meant that we worry over all the other little things such as cold etc and then they go and do something totally unexpected that you wouldnt have even thought of happening! Glad she is home, shes a beautiful puppy
