  1. BTW I got my other numbers today !
  2. Does anyone know how many entries are in group 4B? I didn't get any number for my entry and I'd like a rough idea!!
  3. Take the 6 out of the first 5 didgits and you have it.
  4. Ohh what a bugger with the car BB! One of my two legged babies is sick so we didn't make it there. Congratulations on the wins everyone!!
  5. The Aussie bulldog clubs organise rescue and rehoming, I'd personally suggest they get her desexed before she goes otherwise she will spend her life being bred until she's of no use. Too many people see the $ signs before the welfare of the dog. Aussie bitches are getting sold at 5 years with comments of "ready to come into season soon..."
  6. ohhh, you wouldn't want a wolfhound would you?? Or a bulldog?? If it helps I'm in Geelong....
  7. I've got bulldogs too, we are taking my bro' inlaws dog (we've not long become carers) to get his cherry eye removed tomorrow. I guess having entropion operated on would be similar to getting the cherry eye done  :D . The vet we are using is Rosalie @ Gladesville Vets & she was highly recommended by alot of bulldog people. If your in Sydney might pay to give her a call. But definately get something done sooner rather then later, it definately is not a very nice thing for them to go through. Good luck Moko. Entropion surgery involves the eyelid, whilst cherry eye involves the gland in the corner of the eye. They are different surgeries. I've experienced cherry eye on a few occasions and reccommend stitching it into a pocket and for the record, have never had one reoccur. Always get an experienced vet, otherwise you could have trouble. I've not had entropion in my dogs but do know what it looks like, it really irritates the dog and, if not repaired, can severely damage your dogs eye. I'd suggest getting it done asap as the sooner it's done, the less pain your dog would be in. But once again make sure the vet's done it before as it can go the other way also, and the eyelid can roll out too much. Fingers crossed for your pup, and hope it gets fixed quickly.
  8. Ohhh fish!! Schmoo's boss, that wouldn't be nice on a warm day.... OMG, TLC I read your thread and must admit, I am now thinking my girls got nothing on yours!! I just wish I knew why she did it!!! It is only her face and chin she rubs, you know those bits that a cat rubs on you..! But thankfully I'm not alone.
  9. My delightful Griffon girl has a disgusting habit of finding anything stinky and rubbing her chin and face in it. I enjoy having her inside but not when she smells of ferret poo, dead rabbit or rabbit poo, chook poo or what ever else the filthy thing can find. I don't wash her all the time, but am having to make a regular occurrence of it with the odours!!! Does anyone know why she does this? I appreciate it's like perfume but she's the only one here that does it! Is there something I can do to prevent this happening??? When we go for a walk she ALWAYS manages to find a smell and in a split second is down on her knees(??) rubbing her chin and side of her head in it..... It does make for a disgusting car ride home and repulsive lap dog... Any ideas would be apppreciated....
  10. and daughter!! When I glance at them, I can't tell them apart, BUT when I take the time to look at the white no, take the time to actually look at them, I can tell them apart!
  11. lol, Yes, a mum and daughter! If I knew how to add pictures, I would!
  12. Of two recent litters (of british bulldogs)the first litter was born at the vets, c-section and the pups were bought home and put in a "large plastic reptile enclosure" with a heat lamp in it and lots of bedding, dry bed, sheets, newspaper (scrunched up for lumpiness) etc. (in the lounge room/ kitchen) (Mum and pups are not left together.... mum's spaced out after a c-section and can squash the babies) Mum was crated beneath them, for the first 48 hours (to stay warm) in this case mum had no milk what so ever, so she stays inside for a few days and was eventually allowed back outside but I needed her healed first. (this mum was not interested in her pups either and after 5 or so days of begging her to clean them, I took over feeding and cleaning and left her alone.) The remaining pup is now 5 weeks and is still in the enclosure as it's quite cold here at the moment and no major drafts can get him. I have him out for plays and also out to feed him but he goes back in to go to bed. My other litter, also born at the vets by c-section was put on mum, ( she had milk) for the first 16 hours non stop. I sat with them, then, I topped up the pups and put them back in the enclosure, then left mum in the whelping box, she prefered to be in there and didn't want to move. Every 4 hours put the pups back in with mum and let them feed, after an hour with mum, I'd top them up and put them back in the enclosure. (This mum refused point blank to clean her babies also.) Unfortunately this litter died by day three. Sooo I can't give you any more input. In the whelping box, I have heated flooring but it's too warm for mum, so I have a heat lamp above the pups and mum is able to move away or get close. This is in the loungeroom/ kitchen, (open plan living)
  13. Maybe I'm one of few lucky bulldog owners, but my dogs only go to the vets for vaccinations. I have had one grass seed removed from the cheek of one of my boys but other than that, I've not needed to take my him to the vets. I'm certain I'm not alone there, it seems too many people are willing to harp on about the negatives and no one really promotes the positives.....
  14. Of course there are size differences, that's what happens when you throw anything together. The UABA continues to put British bulldogs to their "papered" bitches (amoungst other things, great danes were put in to get blue, Neo mastiffs are now in the mix, American bulldogs were put in to produce larger litters, staffies, boxers, bull mastiffs, etc....) whilst the ABS refuse to put anything together other than Australian bulldog to Australian bulldog, there are other groups, I think the ABC is another, and then there are "breeders" that make their own paperwork rather than give the UABA $30 to make a "pedigree". All claim they are producing 'healthier" bulldogs but none of them agree to follow the ANKC procedure to produce a new breed, if they did, the Australian Bulldog would probably be a registered breed by now. The United Aussie Bulldog Association (UABA) was founded by Noel Green and Pip Nobes. They produce Aussie Bulldogs. They differed in opinion on a few matters so, Pip started up the Australian Bulldog Society, they produce Australian Bulldogs. Then others joined up and couldn't agree with the two parties, soooo started their own clubs with similar ideas. The people that buy these pups are told they have pedigree dogs, I had a discussion with a bloke this weekend, he wants to find a home for his 'british" bulldog, it's got papers and everything, it's parents are all Austalian bulldogs and one of it's great grandparents is a british bulldog from the UK...... :D It's actually an Aussie bulldog and a mutt, but he disputed that.

  16. I agree with Lo Pan. "In 1898 the United Kennel Club was formed with the express intent of providing registration and fighting guidelines for the now officially-named American Pit Bull Terrier. Later, those who wished to distance themselves from the fighting aspect of the breed petitioned the American Kennel Club for recognition of the Pit Bull so that it would be eligible for dog shows and other performance events. The AKC conceded in 1936 but only under the stipulation that the dogs registered with them be called "Staffordshire Terriers", the name of the province in England the breed supposedly originated in. Upon acceptance of the breed, many people dual-registered their dogs with both the AKC and the UKC." Found somewhere on the world wide web, this would indicate they are the same.
  17. We always mention price to people in intial phone calls, so they are aware of the "going" rate. It doesn't mean we are going to sell them a pup (as we very rarely have any available) but it does give the person an idea on how much people charge, approximately. I don't have a problem with "How much?", being one of the first questions...... if you don't ask you will never know. In say that, IF that's the only question I really do dislike it, The callers then tend to get a rather long "lecture" on the breed, health, home requirements, training, feeding, etc.. Thus enabling them to be prepared with information should they wish to phone anyone else. What I really dislike is a phone call saying, "Have you got any puppies available, I'm after a white one with red patches on it's back or over it's left eye." No "Well do you know anyone that has?" Why not humour me and ask about the breed or inform me of your knowledge on the breed.
  18. Geelong also has show training in Pettit Park in Bell Post Hill, on Monday morning. 10.30 - 11.30 then 11.30 - 12. morning tea.
  19. The British Bulldog standard was first drawn up in 1865 by the members of the original Bulldog Club and it was known as the Philo-Kuon Standard. 10 years later the the Bulldog Club issued an improved standard. Little else has changed from that original standard drawn up 135 years ago until NOW..... Bulldogs sink, they don't really swim. AND they can live outside in 38 degree weather if looked after with fresh water, shell pools and shade. They love people and kids, and are also very sociable with other dogs. And also have a desire to sleep in weird positions.... Can't spell today!!
  20. What about a mens singlet with a dog coat over the top, if the oil soaks into the singlet, and the skin, you could just wash it and put on another singlet , whilst the outer jacket stays cleanish... ?? !! Tricky, you've got me thinking........
  21. Be careful you don't make him too hot, especially if he would be sleeping in it. Also you would want a breathable material to prevent moisture on the inside.
