Chronic Skinny Dog - I Sure Could Use Some Help Pls!
bullyfan replied to Stitch's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I'm also struggling to get weight on an otherwise very healthy dog, I'm trying premium puppy dry food with minced chicken or beef or lamb etc, and trying her with pasta dishes, eg spag bol, and porridge with her breakfast, roast chicken appeals one day and not the next.. She's a fussy bugger and also runs around a lot. I've decided to treat her like a pup and see if it makes a difference, more fatty food and small varied meals more often. So far she's eating a lot more than she was, and I think.... (if I squint..) she's put on more weight. I've never pandered to fussy dogs but this girl eats like a sparrow and has gone 4 days without eating in the past. I look forward to some eplies to see if anything makes a difference, she doesn't mind a slice of toast with butter and vegimite for breaky either.. ?? -
Griffon Bruxellois, I am smitten. I wanted a small dog without the hair issues. That did NOT bark at everything. I also wanted a confident but not noisy small breed that was hardy. They are very affectionate toward their owners and reserved with strangers. They are VERY intelligent and don't require a lot of exercise or if you prefer, they will take a lot of exercise. I also wanted a cat but found I don't need one with a griffon, they are small enough to curl up on your lap and not break a knee.. The coat on the smooths is easy to look after and on a rough is much easier to handle that a cavalier, with silky fine hair, or a pug, that sheds constantly or a maltese also with silky fine hair that knots. The rough can stay long and you brush them every now and then, I think they look lovely shaggy. I have had and groomed the other breeds for family and friends and also the shihtzu's..... much prefer the ease of a Griff.

What Exactly Are The "papers" Puppies Come With?
bullyfan replied to RiverStar-Aura's topic in General Dog Discussion
I'll quote from Victoria's information...... Registration with Dogs Victoria(NSW/Tas/WA/SA etc...) is different to council registration, which is required by law. Please register your new dog with the Council in which you reside. Any dog can be registered with Dogs Victoria. The differences between the Purebred Register and the Associate Register is that to be on the Purebred Register your dog has to be of known, recognised and registered parentage of the same breed. (This was what was refered to when people mentioned "papers") A pedigreed purebred dog can be listed on either the Main Register (blue certificate in Victoria) or Limited Register (Orange certificate in Victoria) A dog on the main register (blue certificate) has full rights. The dogs on this register can be shown in confirmation shows in order to gain titles and may be bred from to other Main register dogs of the same breed and have their progeny registered as purebreds. The Limited register (Orange certificate) indicated that a dog is pedigreed but cannot be shown at confirmation shows nor can the dog be bred with and have the progeny registered as pedigreed puppies. To be on the Associated register a dog does not need to have known parentage. Dogs on any of these Registers are eligible to compete in Obedience, agility and many other trials and dog sports. Dogs must be desexed to be included on the Associate Register. Hopethat answers your question! I dont know the limited reg colours in NSW but I believe Main register is also blue. -
good find! I'll keep checking this one!

Congratulations on your win. Does someone want to take my griff out, she needs 15 points and I am soooooo unmotivated!! -
Definately a vet, our boy got one and we didn't see it until it was in his cheek heading towards his eye. We then had it surgically removed, but the poor boy would have been uncomfortable.
